Honestly, I wasn't a fan of him or the Reds and Phillies (Expos in '84 wasn't even thinking about), so I don't have a story...

My favorite story, is that he had more hits in baseball than any one.   Now that’s a great story.

Nolan Ryan appeared on the Ed Sullivan show with the 69 Mets and the players sang “You Gotta Have Heart” from the broadway show “Damn Yankees”.

Will Clark hit a HR off Nolan Ryan in his first MLB at-bat. It was a shot that went over the centerfield wall at the Astrodome. A fan with a broken arm caught the ball. After the game, Clark was fined by the team’s kangaroo court because a fan with a broken arm caught his best line drive.

I was watching the game when Ryan beat the pizz out of Robin Ventura.

My favorite headline ever from the Austin American Statesman:

Furious Ryan Throws Seven Hitter, complete with that iconic photo of having Ventura in a headlock.

Twelve one hitters to along with his seven no hitters.

38% of plate appearances against Ryan ended without the ball being put into play.

If Ichiro's Japanese stats are included, there's no reason not to include Rose's 400+ minor league hits, which would put him back on top.

The Japanese league was the top league in Japan, the minor league hits wouldn't count because they aren't the top league in the US...

Yes, Rose was technically a "professional" then, but definitely not against the best in the US, unlike Ichiro...
