I never said they were only sent there to pickup trash. They were also sent to stand around and harass people.

Did they help reduce crime?  Maybe? If so temporarily.  They're not investigating crimes or making arrests.  It's really just a show.

I had replied earlier to strike when he made the same claim.  The crime rate was lower during the previous period yoy before the fed surge.

Again, small sample size.

Look if the military actually reduces carjackings, great.  What happens when they leave?  What happens if they stay and the people in these neighborhoods have military patrolling their streets forever?  Do Americans want a police state?
