Reoccurring Dreams or Random People in Your Dream

Recommended Posts

I have dreams of being late for work or school? School? Really. Several times I drive my car off a bridge into water and instead of arranging to get the car out of the water, I fight to get to work. I've worked from home they sent us there because of the virus. And I'm signed in a half hour before my shift begins. When I went to the office I was usually a half hour or so early, so I don't know why my brain thinks this is an issue.

Another is random celebs showing up in my dream, like one time it was Phil Hartman. There's nothing wrong with Phil, but I couldn't tell you anything he's been in, so it's nhot like I'm a big fan or anything.

I'm not looking for answers LOL. I'm just curious what kind of things others have dreamed that made them say WTF was that?

So many about being back in HS. A hotel where I can nerve find the way out and people are shooting bullets that are in slow motion. I fly high into the sky and get as far as I can get and begin my way back and land safely. Walking nekkid in strange public places. The one that gets me, my dad shows up after six months out of the blue at our office with his concealed look. I saw him pass, did all the business, and know he has passed. Yet I ask him, where the hell have you been for six months.Cwazzy

Walking on those golden roads in Heaven, it brings peace and comfort knowing I’m on the right team, it’s a great dream.  Good night.

This thread needs your input about as much as TV needs a reboot of the 6 Million Dollar Man staring Patton Oswalt.

I tend to have a few recurring themes, similar to yours in fact.  The most common is to be some variation of late for something, or lost.  It could be a house, casino, airport.  I turn corners knowing it is the right way, but something has changed and it no longer works or is blocked off, and I have a growing sense of panic that I'm not going to get to my destination in time.

Similarly, sometimes I'm just in a building, say a house, and I discover that it is much larger than I thought, with hidden rooms, a second kitchen, hidden patios, etc.  Those are more fun.

The next most common involves college.  I'm back at school for some graduate type degree, but I haven't been going to classes, and I'm worried that I'm going to fail.  Usually within these I recognize that I've had similar dreams before, but this time it's real!

The people... sometimes there are background people who seem random.  If the people are more involved in the story, they tend to be variations of people I know or met/saw that day.  Not exactly them, though.

It is this last part which makes me think that dreams are us waking up when our brain is trying to figure out what to put into long-term memory, and where.  Just a theory.

In my youth I had a couple different reoccurring dreams.

In adulthood I read Living Your Dreams by Gayle Delaney and I taught myself how to recognize it's a dream and how to control what you dream about. One of the coolest is learning to fly in your dreams. So yeah, a reoccurring dream where I practice flying around, it's really trippy and cool.  But one of the requirements is to go to sleep completely sober, so I don't do it as much anymore.

I just reread that chapter of the book. Other dimensions, out of body experiences and star-trekking.   I might have to get back into it.  I stopped at flying.

I read one of her books or a peers of hers in college about out of body experiences and reincarnation. I believe in both.

I want to smother you with a bag of dIcks you pompous fake Christian. You hide behind your fake faith to act like you're better than others to try to make your self not feel so pathic. When you face Jesus you are going to one of the unlucky ones that he tells, "I never knew you." You're the Benny Hinn of the board.

Hey, @HTH Do want to see this little idiot lose his mind? Peenie the "Hey Weepaws" thread.

Seems like at least once a month, I have a dream about my job. I worked in the quality assurance lab for about a year. It was 12 hours (6 AM - 6 PM) & you had to do 2 sets of checks.

If any of those were out of specification, I had to make sure the technicians on the floor were aware of/addressing it. The dream is always the same. Something prevents me from getting the checks done. Eventually, it's after 1 PM & I'm beginning to panic because I still haven't completed the 1st set.

I have a recurring dream where I’m down to my last course before graduating and realize I never went to class and have to pass an exam. I wake up in a panic, but soon realize that while I did drink an ocean of liquor and snort a Latin country gdp worth of coke, I did graduate from Miami University. (The real Miami that was a school before Florida was a state)

I just remembered a crazy dream where my wife's parents had volunteered me to play the lead in a church production of Bye Bye Birdie. They told me this and the curtain was going up in an hour. Plus the production was in Portuguese or something. So not only did I have to learn my lines in hour, it had to be in Portuguese.
