Maybe, but it's not a War crime

Cool, so there is no war, we're just murdering boaters.  Fine by me.  Charge him and execute him.

Pentagon announces it has killed four men in another boat strike in Pacific

The Pentagon announced on Thursday that the US military had conducted another deadly strike on a boat suspected of carrying illegal narcotics, killing four men in the eastern Pacific, as questions mount over the legality of the attacks.

Video of the new strike was posted on social media by the US southern command, based in Florida, with a statement saying that, at the direction of Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, “Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel in international waters operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization”.

Opiods kill far more people than cocaine.  Are we gonna start blowing up drug stores?

Why are we releasing cocaine kingpins from prison but blowing up boats?

The right thing is following the law, not murdering people because we want to distract from Epstein.

Let's blow up some boats but still cover up a child pedo ring.  Release the drug kingpin from prison, but blow up some boats.  Any survivors, blow them up too.

The guy who ripped people off for millions, put him back on the streets.  Blow up another boat.

Exclusive: Survivors clinging to capsized boat didn’t radio for backup, admiral overseeing double-tap strike tells lawmakers

The two men killed as they floated holding onto their capsized boat in a secondary strike against a suspected drug vessel in early September did not appear to have radio or other communications devices, the top military official overseeing the strike told lawmakers on Thursday, according to three sources with direct knowledge of his congressional briefings.

As far back as September, defense officials have been quietly pushing back on criticism that killing the two survivors amounted to a war crime by arguing, in part, that they were legitimate targets because they appeared to be radioing for help or backup — reinforcements that, if they had received it, could have theoretically allowed them to continue to traffic the drugs aboard their sinking ship.

The initial hit on the vessel, believed to be carrying cocaine, killed nine people immediately and split the boat in half, capsizing it and sending a massive smoke plume into the sky, the sources who viewed the video as part of the briefings said. Part of the surveillance video was a zoomed-in, higher-definition view of the two survivors clinging to a still-floating, capsized portion, they said.

For a little under an hour — 41 minutes, according to a separate US official — Bradley and the rest of the US military command center discussed what to do as they watched the men struggle to overturn what was left of their boat, the sources said.

Ultimately, Bradley told lawmakers, he ordered a second strike to destroy the remains of the vessel, killing the two survivors, on the grounds that it appeared that part of the vessel remained afloat because it still held cocaine, according to one of the sources. The survivors could hypothetically have floated to safety, been rescued, and carried on with trafficking the drugs, the logic went.

The other source with direct knowledge of the briefing called that rationale “f**king insane.”

So he had them killed because if they lived they "hypothetically" would be trafficking drugs again.

Yeah, I agree that rationale is “f**king insane.”

Here are some facts about Venezuela and narcotics:

Quote
Before anyone talks about “bombing fishing boats” or “stopping fentanyl from Venezuela,” here are the actual facts:
🔹 Distance:
The closest point between Venezuela and the United States is 1,073 miles.
That’s over a thousand miles of open ocean.
🔹 Fishing boats:
A typical fishing boat would need 6–12 full tanks of fuel to even attempt that trip.
It’s not a realistic trafficking route — it’s not even physically practical.
🔹 How much fentanyl comes from Venezuela?
Virtually none.
Venezuela is not a source country for fentanyl going into the United States.
🔹 Where U.S. fentanyl actually comes from:
• China supplies most of the precursor chemicals
• Mexico manufactures the illicit fentanyl
• Fentanyl enters mostly through ports of entry by land, hidden in vehicles — not fishing boats
So the idea that Venezuelan fishing boats are flooding the U.S. with fentanyl is not just wrong — it’s physically impossible.
If we want to solve the fentanyl crisis, we have to start with facts, not myths.

Trump is committing murder for show, plain and simple. He is a war criminal. Maybe this is what Congress will get him on when the Democrats take over!

That boat we did a double tap on apparently was transporting fuel to a marina. Drugs come into this country from China and Mexico, usually not by boat. But I'm sure MAGAs now believe Venezuela to be the world's biggest drug supplier, just because their cult leader orders strikes on boats.

I doubt cocaine killed 22k people last year. That number is way too high. Maybe if they mixed it with Heroin, but Coke on its own? I don’t think so.

MAGA math.

Also, who dies from a cocaine overdose? Learn how to take your drugs, people!

ETA: Forgot I'm under contractual obligation to tag @edjr whenever coca becomes part of the conversation.

You’re right. Been to many overdoses, during the crack era. You couldn’t kill those people. But when heroin or other downers got involved, then you would see the overdoses.

Ok so even less.  Why does the admin lie about it?  Why are we blowing up ships for this?  How many millions are we spending?

I pulled that number from Gemini, didn't check the Gemini source.

The point being is a rather low number.  Not to minimize the life of anyone, but is this really worth it?

The whole thing is a sham, obviously. And no, it's not worth it.

My response was mostly tongue in cheek, since I've known cocaine users for decades, and dabbled occasionally myself. I've come across far more people in danger from overconsumption of alcohol than cocaine. HT is probably right (ack) in that cocaine itself has very few OD deaths. It's when it gets mixed with fentanyl or heroin that it really becomes lethal.

very unlikely to die from cocaine. the coke laced with fentanyl is a myth. has it happened? sure but likely an accident. what coke dealer is going to kill his customers?
