cmh6476 1,144 Posted November 19 I feel like I'm talking to myself, but I know a couple of you are paying attention. I like the fact they are allowing continuation after fouls. Makes sense to me. I'm ready for four quarters of play at the college level. Get away from the foul and free throws at the end of each half and allow the game to be played more continuously. Also maybe get to a point where you allow 6 fouls before a player is fouled out. I know the score isn't reflective, but I was impressed with the way KU handled themselves last night. Down arguably the best freshman in the country and the team was hanging around with Dook. Last year's KU team would have been blown out of the water. Going to be an exciting season of college basketball

cmh6476 1,144 Posted November 26 Will somebody engage me in this thread? Is anyone following this players era deal? It's basically changing anything we've ever known about college basketball. Never in my life have I seen Bill Self instruct his team to start chucking threes when you're up 11 at the end of the game. So five teams went undefeated, and you have Michigan and Gonzaga playing in the championship for $1M, with $500k going to the loser in additional NIL money. Third place game, KU and Tennessee playing for $300k to the winner and $200k to the loser. All based on point differential in the two wins. Then Iowa State won two but gets royally kinda focked. Now this thing is going to like 32 teams next year with a similar format? Get the fock out of here, and let's just get back to tournaments where winning is all that matters. I really like college bb don’t usually follow until January. I had to look this up after reading your post. One one hand this brings interest early into the season one the other the point differential seems like a bad idea. Why create an opportunity for something shady

Why create an opportunity for something shady They're structuring it like the NBA summer league I guess. I assume this money is going straight to the players, so kind of incentive for these players to make some bank.
SaintsInDome2006 738 Posted November 26 Players Era is a college hoops fan’s dream, embrace it >>Here’s the best part. Look at this schedule. We’re talking four straight days of high-level college hoops, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. ET and the last game not tipping off until midnight.<< I wasn’t even aware of this, sounds cool. They're playing well for stretches (obviously speaking about KU), but you can't go on a ten minute scoring drought, and they need to learn how to finish games. There's always a lot of top 10/25 schools that don't have everyone (UConn was out 2 guys also), and a lot of times, have new players (freshmen/transfers), that need to get acclomated. It's good for the kids to travel and play against non-conference opponents who match the skill/talent level they'll see in the tournament. If you have a team that's good, the record doesn't matter. Just learn, develop, and then kill it in your conference tournament. That'll get you a top 5 seed in the bracket and a good shot at a championship run. I'm interested to see how Wisconsin will fare since my son is up there now. Some of their best games in conference are when he's probably going to be home for winter break, which kind of sucks for him growing up a huge college bball fan going to tons of KU games. It's more likely I would travel for the NCAA tournament now to follow Wisconsin rather than KU, if my son lands a spot to travel with the team for band. Big 10 tournament might also be on the radar for the next few years.

I mean, if you go 6-12 in your conference and lose in the conference championship game, you're screwed. But I'm talking about good teams... top 25-30 teams. It doesn't matter if you're #1 or #30. If you're a good team trying to get things together during the season, losing games here and there are meaningless... most especially non-conference games. Compile a 12-6 conference record, win a couple tournament games (maybe win it), and shoot for a 5-seed. If it took you 4 months instead of 2, like some teams, to get your team running at top speed, so be it.

RPI isn't a very good metric early on... especially when you're not playing a tough schedule. If they've played no ranked opponents, odds are their opponents aren't playing tough teams either. If that's the case, then they probably all have good records. UConn currently is #6, BYU is #4, Arizona is #5, and Kansas is #30 (UConn played all of them). I haven't seen Nebraska play, but looking at their schedule and the scores, I think UConn and the 3 teams they played, would all make Nebraska their b1tch.
