cmh6476 1,145 Posted November 5 Royals Announce Two-Year Contract with Salvador Perez The Kansas City Royals tonight announced a two-year contact agreement with catcher Salvador Perez through the 2027 season. “Salvy is a Royals legend and one of the most important players this franchise has ever had,” said Executive Vice President/General Manager J.J. Picollo. “We had the option for next year, but everyone knew we wanted to make sure his legacy with us continued longer than that. We appreciate Salvy’s commitment to the Royals, and we’re just as excited as our fans.” Perez, 35, is a nine-time All-Star, five-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, the 2015 World Series Most Valuable Player and the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award winner. In 2023, Perez was named the fourth Captain in franchise history.

There's a signing bonus and some deferred money within the contract, but it essentially works out to $12.5 million a year.

cmh6476 1,145 Posted November 19 Orioles acquire Taylor Ward from Angels for Grayson Rodriguez Alden Gonzalez Nov 18, 2025, 10:55 PM ET The Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder Taylor Ward from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-hander Grayson Rodriguez on Tuesday night, an intriguing one-for-one swap that filled clear needs for both teams. The Orioles went into the offseason seeking a power-hitting outfielder and get one in Ward, who is entering his final season before free agency. The Angels sought a top-of-the-rotation starter and hope to get one in Rodriguez, a once-promising prospect who spent the 2025 season sidelined by injury. Advertising Rodriguez, a 26-year-old whose contract allows the team four more years of control, was drafted No. 11 overall out of high school in 2018 and showed promise in his first two seasons in the big leagues, posting a 4.11 ERA with 259 strikeouts against 78 walks in 238⅔ innings from 2023 to 2024. But an elbow injury popped up in spring training of 2025, then reemerged in the summer and ultimately led to debridement surgery to remove bone chips, preventing him from pitching all season. Rodriguez, though, is expected to be ready for spring training. Ward, who will turn 32 next month, was drafted 26th overall as a catcher in 2015, then transitioned to third base and found a home in left field. His biggest adjustment, though, was overhauling his swing to tap into a patient-yet-powerful approach, one that fully manifested itself over these past two seasons. From 2024 to 2025, Ward slashed .237/.320/.450 with 61 home runs and 178 RBIs while ranking 25th among 316 hitters in chase rate.

My take… Grayson was expected to significantly contribute last year and is why the Orioles didn’t do much in FA with pitching. With him not being there, hopefully they have plans this year. I fully expect Grayson to win multiple CY’s and WS’s. Taylor Ward is an above average OF, but not a significant piece of the roster. At this point, I predict another year slightly below .500. Let’s see what it buys them. They still are probably trading Duran , have to replace or re-sign Bregman and bring in a big bat . I liked Clarke but he’s not Tolle and Perales look amazing in the fall league. If they don’t take that money and utilize it they deserve to be killed over it

WhiteWonder 2,966 Posted November 29 As my Rays typically do nothing, I have more interest in what the Mets will do/ have done. Nimmo for Semien is interesting. Nimmo is 32, has been super healthy the past 4 seasons and coming off arguably a career year (very similar production '24 and '25). Semien is 35, usually healthy but has shown steady decline. Better defender. Given the team seems to have more infield depth than outfield when you factor in Baty and Acuna, it's a little bit of an odd move to me. Leaves a hole in left field. I assume they will be going after Bellinger or Kyle Tucker. It also sounds like these moves may be because of Francisco Lindor. Guy has been great as a Met but can't seem to get along with anyone, mostly Jeff McNeil, but I was reading that players like Nimmo and also Soto have an issue with him possibly becoming captain. Obviously Soto isn't going anywhere but trading away Nimmo for Semien who will displace McNeil would suggest those rumors are true. meh. I'm holding out hope they bring Alonso back

cmh6476 1,145 Posted 3 hours ago BOSTON – The Red Sox dealt from a position of strength (the outfield) on Thursday, trading No. 3 prospect Jhostynxon Garcia to the Pirates as part of a five-player package that landed Boston a big righty in 6-foot-6, 275-pound Johan Oviedo, who has a chance to become an important part of the pitching staff. Two Minor Leaguers -- catcher Adonys Guzman and lefty Tyler Samaniego -- are also coming to Boston. Righty Jesus Travieso will join Garcia in the move to the Pirates. To make room on the 40-man roster for Oviedo, the Red Sox designated right-hander Cooper Criswell for assignment. TRADE DETAILS Red Sox receive: RHP Johan Oviedo, LHP Tyler Samaniego, C Adonys Guzman Pirates receive: OF Jhostynxon Garcia (MLB's No. 85 prospect), RHP Jesus Travieso In Oviedo, Boston gets a pitcher who missed the entire 2024 following Tommy John surgery, but came back to make nine starts last season, going 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA. In 40 1/3 innings, he walked 23 and struck out 42. Prior to tearing his UCL, Oviedo took on a full starter’s load in ‘23, taking the ball 32 times and logging 177 2/3 innings in which he issued 85 walks, hit 13 batters and struck out 158. Obviously, pounding the strike zone is something the 27-year-old needs to do more consistently. Oviedo clearly fits the profile of the type of big, physical pitchers Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow had tried to stack his organization with over the last couple of years. Per Statcast, Oviedo’s 7.4 foot extension last season ranked in the 98th percentile. He has a five-pitch mix, led by his four-seamer (95.5-mph average last season) and slider. Oviedo also mixes in a curveball, sinker and changeup. At the GM Meetings, Breslow said he was more interested in acquiring front-line starting pitching than players in the 3-10 range on the depth chart. Last week, he acquired an upper-echelon starter in Sonny Gray in a trade with the Cardinals. https://www.mlb.com/news/red-sox-trade-for-johan-oviedo-pirates
