Trump's Approval Among Latinos Drops 32 Points Amid Immigration Crackdown

Recommended Posts

Like landscapers, roofers, and restaurant workers are some special groups.

Illegals in those groups are nothing but bodies. No special skills. No worth. People should be doing their own landscaping and cooking and roofers should be an actual trade. Instead we get illegals.

In arizona landscaping is just 3 illegals walking around with leaf blowers and other small engines just polluting the air. They cant trim trees properly and cause tons of them to get blown over. Those idiots love pole chainsaws. Who cares about the top right?

Illegals cut the cement shingles up on the roof with a dry saw blasting concrete dust everywhere instead of using a wet saw on the ground and measuring properly.

Take out the trash.

Hey..  You're free to disagree.  You believe polls, I don't.   And that's OK.  It's just my opinion.

Fine. You are entitled to your opinion.

I am not saying I believe all polls but they are a reflection of how the public (or a segment of it in this case) feel at a certain point in time.

The fact that no one here has come up with a single recent poll that does not show a significant drop in support among Latinos for Trump since the election is quite telling.

I enjoy how you claim that every single illegal employed in this country is just unskilled labor, incompetent and unwilling to do the job properly. Then, unironically, call them all trash. No doubt you are descended from a perfectly clean genealogical pool of all white nobility dating back to the middle ages. And of course everyone in that tree was highly intelligent, skilled, and appreciated. What an un-trashy genetic marvel you are!

No it isn't.   It's just that your side did.  Because they want to influence opinion, and it is working well with you.  As it was intended

‘Latinos Hate Donald Trump’: CNN’s Harry Enten Shocked at President’s ‘Massive’ Approval Rating Nosedive

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten was shocked Monday as he looked at polling that showed President Donald Trump’s once-remarkable gains with Latino voter having collapsed amid his immigration crackdown.

Discussing new polling in the aftermath of the New Jersey and Virginia elections, CNN anchor John Berman pressed Enten on what Latino voters now make of the president. The shift, Enten found, is dramatic.

“Latino voters trusted Kamala Harris more than Donald Trump but by just two points,” Enten noted, reflecting on past numbers.

Today, he noted, Trump’s numbers have cratered: “Look now at Donald Trump’s net approval rating on immigration among Latinos: He is 38 points underwater. That is a 36-point shift essentially from where we were a year ago on immigration!”

“Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are basically tied on the issue of immigration,” Enten added, comparing the Democrat’s 2024 numbers with the president’s current. “And now on the issue of immigration, Latinos despise, hate Donald Trump – 38 points underwater! In their mind, he is doing something absolutely wrong when it comes to immigration.”

The overall picture is just as stark.

Enten continued, tracking Trump’s standing with Latino voters more broadly as he displayed approval ratings that have simply fallen off a cliff.

“Oh my goodness!” he exclaimed, “I mean that is the phrase of the day!”

Scanning the figures he compared past and present: “Trump’s approval rating among Latinos in early February, again, he was just two points underwater. Look at where he is now: late October -34 points, 34 points underwater! A shift to 32 points over the course of this year.”

Enten stressed that the trend runs across multiple polls, not just the CBS News/YouGov figures he had on the big screen: “20, 25, 30 point shifts… away from Donald Trump among Latinos overall.”

They FAd and now they're FO.

Lol. You asked for a link because you are special ed. So i provided you an example of actual physical barriers being lifted, since you asked for it.

And now you pretend you didn't ask for it and try to pretend it was the entire discussion?

I asked you last time how many times a day you hit your head. You didn't answer because you exited thread after being embarrassed yet again.

Can you answer now? How many times.

False. And shows how little you know about roofing.

I mean you mostly know nothing about all this stuff.

Roofing has seen massive price increases to the consumer while also seeing massive increases in illegal labor being used.

If you knew anything about this industry, like at all, you would know why this is.

Enlighten me.  I’m guessing your claim will be that the illegals don’t know what they’re doing so roofs need to be replaced more often than they should be.

I’d need to see some data to back that up.  Because the laws of economics would say that if they’re doing a crappy job, those companies wouldn’t do well, or at the very least management would realize they’re doing a crappy job and either teach them to do better or hire someone else that will. And if they pay more for labor, they’d likely charge the consumer more.

I would assume another factor increasing demand has been the boom in new construction being built overall.  I guess you’ll try to blame that on all the illegals buying up new construction housing and then I’ll laugh at you again.

edit: also I can’t speak to roofing specifically, but I know in a prior conversation with @Strike I mentioned I’ve often seen better work from guys that didn’t speak English (albeit maybe they weren’t illegal) than from Americans.  Just because they’re illegal doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing.

I am not talking about some long term TCOO figure. I am talking about actual per job rates. They have skyrocketed.

Sure roofing materials have gone up, but nowhere near enough to explain the spike.

Meanwhile the number of illegal jerkwads has also gone up.

And they actually do work for low wages.

How can this be? No way, it is impossible! If the actual workers are making less clearly costs to the consumer must be down!

Well, welcome to the new world order of roofing. Dominated by private equity, generals, subs, and subs of subs with a dash of materials exclusive contracts and territories.

It is so wild to me how you keep coming back to this talking point.

Nobody says illegals buy up all the new construction except you when you go down this silly little road.

Illegals live places. They dont sleep in fields or trees. They literally occupy housing. I know that seems complicated, but hear me out.

They like pay rent and stuff. Wild I know, but again stay with me.

So when these illegals live places, that means that americans cant live there. Omfg, what???? What did I just say? Yep. That housing gets occupied.

So now if you had ten places available to americans at a certain price range, you now have less. This will cause the prices of that strat of housing to go up.

But here is the crazy wacko kicker to this. Lets say that level was 1000 bucks a month rent previously. Lets say that price now goes up to 1200. In your model that you love to repeat like you are playing some trump card, thats it. That is the only level affected. Nothing else happens. In your pretend world the units that were previously 1200, just stay at 1200 and experience zero upward pressure.

So now the units that were 1000 become 1200 and we just have more units priced at 1200 even though there is a clear difference in the units that was previously explained by a 200 dollar gap.

This is la la land stuff.

I’m not denying that roofing costs have gone up.  But are you implying that you think prices have gone up BECAUSE of illegals? If so, please explain why you think that is.  This reminds me of covid vax conversations where people like you would say the vax must not have worked because people still died, when most likely, more people would have died without it (and here, costs likely would have gone up even more if less illegals were being employed).  I’d also be curious to see stats on an alleged increase in illegals as a % of total roofing workers.  I feel like there’s probably always been a lot of illegals working in roofing and I’d be surprised if the % has really increased that dramatically.

There is no logic that explains roofing prices going up with the introduction of low wage illegals.  Johnt Utah is a complete idiot.

Because claiming that illegals are the reason home prices NATIONALLY, TO BUY are so high is what’s really la la land stuff.

I acknowledge that illegals will increase rent prices in areas where there are a lot of them.  But primarily at the lower end, and not in areas where there aren’t a lot of illegals, yet home prices went up similar amounts almost everywhere, at all price brackets.  And the huge increases recently really started in 2020/2021, partly before Biden could have a chance to take down razor wire, and definitely before it could have had any noticeable impact on the housing market.  Edit: And then you blamed illegals for increasing housing costs in Cook County despite the population going down, which completely contradicts your claim above, lol.

Even data that you shared yourself said even in places like Houston their effect was somewhere around 1%.

I’m betting his theory will be that their work is sh1tty so that means roofs need to be replaced more, creating more demand.    But even if work has gotten sh1ttier, I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to blame it on illegals since illegals can do good work, and I’d need to see numbers that the % of illegals working in roofing has actually increased significantly in recent years, seems like there have probably always been a lot.

You guys are human centipeding too much.

Prices went up and illegals grew in number.

Private equity has taken over the roofing industry. They jacked up prices and are extracting as much profit as they can in a short period of time. They dont care about long term quality because they dont plan on being the owners in 10 years.

So instead of high quality long term labor they hire somebody to get the work done for them. That may be the actual company that does the work. Or it may be a general that hires a sub. That may even hire a sub. That sub will usually be illegal labor or at least part illegal.

Each of those is a layer that eliminates the connection to wages as a factor to bidding. Those layers also insulate the PE group from any connection to the illegals.

The exclusive deals for certain products also play in here too, but obviously I am dealing with sandbags with legs with you two so I am not even going to bother trying to explain that.

Jobs for PE groups are no longer bid with any kind of labor cost effect because they are way above where it matters. That is why a house right now can get such a variance for estimates for roofing.

It can be 16k all the way up to 65k for practically the same roof and it could even be the same actual laborers that would do the work depending on how many roofers are in the area. And the PE group isnt even mad when they get underbid like this. It just gives them a new target to buy and eliminate from the marketplace.

The whole thing is nuts.

The illegals dont necessarily cause the price inflation, but without them the whole model doesnt really work. Take them away and the PE groups dont have the ability to complete the jobs.
