Recommended Posts

Dude convicted of defrauding people out of $1.6 billion has his sentence commuted after serving 2 weeks of a 7 year sentence.

SBF next?

Uh, I'm not ok with violent criminals killing women on trains.  Why would you say something so stupid?

I'm also not ok letting corrupt con artists out of jail for no reason.

See how that works?

I said I don’t think pardons should exist. But since they do. This guy walking the streets is better than a 72 time violent criminal. Put everyone in jail. See how that works?

You're rationalizing the pardon.  You can't just say "I don't think Trump should have pardoned this criminal", because you are in the cult.

I think their crimes should have been on par with what people who commit similar crimes and serve that amount of time

nobody serves 3-4 years for minor trespassing

But they shouldn’t have been pardoned, correct?

Nope. Maybe given a retrial or something. But since pardons exist. And again I don’t think they should. I do t care who gets pardoned. It’s all a game. Obama pardoned terrorists. Bidens pen pardoned people who weren’t charged with anything and his son. I didn’t see you making a fuss about it the.  That ended the pardon completely. Again I don’t think pardons should exist. I don’t think commutations should exist. But I didn’t make the rules.

I don’t respect Trump:

Gentile is the latest white-collar defendant Trump has given a reprieve as the president has leaned into his clemency powers in his second term. He has pardoned Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty to a money laundering charge in 2023; Ross Ulbricht, who had been serving a life sentence for creating the Silk Road marketplace; and Trevor Milton, the founder of an electric vehicle startup who was sentenced to four years in prison for exaggerating the potential of his technology.

Based on the baseless cases against people like Letitia James, seems like Biden was smart to pre-emptively pardon his family.   I think the only other one of his I commented on was Fauci which I was fine with.

I did say I didn’t mind the Trump pardon of the Silk Road dude, so it’s not like I’m criticizing all of Trump’s pardons.

Baseless?  But those Trump felonies were legit, amirite?

Smart?  Biden started the precedent of every future POTUS throwing out pre-emptive pardons to every family member and friend in their sphere.  Whee!

Personally, I don't think presidents should have pardons.  Or governors.  I don't understand why they even exist.  We have a legal system with a whole process and everything.  :dunno:

I thought Biden’s preemptive pardons were really weird at the time. They make a lot more sense in retrospect.

Trump uses the DOJ to harass his enemies with fake charges and makes unfounded accusations all the time.

I didn’t really need to spell that out for you, did I? :(
