How often does a QB throw an interception and then a fumble on the same play?

I have no idea why Sirianni keeps lining Hurts up in the shotgun. He, Barkley and the team are waaaaay better under center and the splits aren't even close. Hurts is HORRIBLE in the gun.

The data proves it, why can't Sirianni and Patullo see it to??

@MDC , would you agree?

He is good at getting a yard when two guys are pushing his tush.

And that play hasnt been as good so they are lost.  Out of teams that may make the playoffs the only team with less points per game is the Texans and they are right behind.  The rest that are below the Eagles are eliminated or all but eliminated.   Yet they have a top 5 WR duo, Barkley, and a rock solid TE.  And their division is Skins, Giants, Cowboys, not exactly tough defenses.

His passing ability is not impressive

In his defense, the 1st play of the game should have been a TD but Brown dropped it. Was right in his hands and he would have easily beat the defender.

Other than a good deep ball. He's not very good.

I think the Eagles struggles are a combo of a SB letdown / burnout following a 21-game season, losing the OC, regression and injuries all over the OL, complete lack of a running game most of the year. Hurts played the worst game of his career last night.

I’ve accepted that the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles probably won’t repeat. They’ll retool because it’s a gold standard organization, but it won’t be this year.

I realize they won a SB with this group.  But what would retool mean?  Get rid of AJ Brown?

I heard a Philly fan say 40 attempts!  Thats not Hurts' game.  I mean is 40 attempts once in a while in a competitive game with OT...insane?  Why have a top 5 wr duo and a good TE if that is just blasphemy?  Hurts has literally had one of if not the best set of offensive players for most all his career.  If the preference is to tush push, run it, play action 1 read throw...then its silly to keep Brown around at his nunber and not get anything for him.

He was an OC before he got this job.  Is it insane that he calls the plays if the new OC is a dope?  Thats sort of the insurance in losing an OC.  The HC is an offensive guy.

I am sure the iggles didn't get what they wanted for Brown so they didn't trade him

I’d start with the OL. Cam Jergens is not that great and injured all the time. Landon Dickerson gets hurt constantly and the RG position is a downgrade from last year. Lane Johnson isn’t going to okay forever. The running game has been awful most of the year.

It’s just not their year. It happens.

Oh I know.   They went from 1st OL to not as good.

Not saying they cant use that upgraded at this point.   But can well paid Hurts, Barkley, Brown, Smith, Goedart not function without an elite OL?  Its like Hurts needs all pros at each position.

Im not a PFF slut.  Its not the gospel.  But when trying to look into OL rankings, it is at least a reference.   This was written on December 3rd

-The team's offensive line surrendered just four pressures to the Bears' pass rush, moving the unit back into the top five of these rankings.

The Eagles are 22nd in YPG and averaging 4.1 YPC (also 22nd). Hurts is a good (not great) QB with warts who’s playing bad ball right now. I try to form an opinion based on a body of work vs the last thing that happened — the worst game of his career.

Everyone on the Eagles O needs to play better.

Im not forming it off 1 game.  Ive always thought he was meh as a passer.  Hes showed up in some big games to his credit.

The question was basically, does he need the best roster in football to look like a top 10 QB?  Rough patches happen.  But this "they will retool".  I dont know, maybe build roster differently.  But you are going to retool a top 5 WR duo to be better?  Upgrade TE?  Overhaul the OL because they had some injuries for once and werent the absolute best unit?  Get a new RB?  What exactly is there to retool on offense besides bringing in some OL bodies?  They traded their swing tackle to the Packers this season...

Obviously a new OC could be called a retool.

The Eagles definitely don’t have the best roster in football on O this year. They have a OL is beat up, they can’t run the ball, and the OC is green and maybe just not good. AJ Brown is also struggling to get open and quitting on routes. He dropped a TD last night and caused an INT.

Hurts is part of why they're struggling, but it’s a team sport. I still think he’s a Top 10 QB even though he’s going through the worst stretch of his career.

He also gets paid less than Dak, TLaw, Love, Tua, and Herbert. And has more playoff wins than all of them combined along with a chip.

Everyone has injuries.  Just because a unit sees a few injuries doesnt mean you retool it next year.  Unless you are planning on releasing or trading some of these quality starters in their prime.

I cant argue with him winning a SB and their success.  I would absolutely say since he has started, in entirety, he has enjoyed playing with one of thr very best offensive rosters in football, if not the best over that stretch.  Not his fault, im.just wondering what he would look like without a bunch of pro bowlers. He has always sort of been a low volume, tush push sort of QB that isnt asked to ever take over games.  Just sort of wondering what he has in thr bag if his teams run game is having issues or a lineman God forbid gets hurt.

Not saying they shouldn't or couldnt retool in some way.   But unless you start getting rid of quality players there isnt a lot of starting spots open to improve quickly.  Maybe a guard spot.  I believe Goedert is a FA.  Thats about it.

Also talking top end QB contracts is sort of moot now a days when its just next guy up gets most money.  When Hurts signed he was the highest paid player ever for a second.  Him making less than some others is a fact but its just timing of contracts.

It hasn’t happened since before 1978. The NFL for some reason only is able to track play by play starting with that year.

“Retool” = an upgrade at C/RG and better OL depth, maybe a more creative OC. They could trade AJ Brown and go younger and cheaper at the position. He hasn’t been great for two seasons now.

Hurts obviously needs to be better too.

Very strange.  I keep telling my Bills fans friends to.hang in there.  The AFC is bad.  They may be favored vs any team currently in no matter if they are home or away.  Imagine someone saying in mid December the top 3 seed in AFC will be Broncos Pats Jags.

Im not sure if any of those SB odds are value.  I never look to bet SB winners.  If I like a team ill just ride them each week to win and roll it over into next bet if they advance.

But Bills would be my pick at those numbers.  They probably werent much different than that at start of the year.

if the Bills beat the Patriots this weekend, they will most likely win out and finish 13 and 4

Patriots still have to go to Baltimore and if they lose would finish 13 and 4

Patriots would win Tie breaker with a better division record

The problem is that...

1) Jalen Hurts isn't really all that good of a QB
2) Without the right system for Hurts, that team won't be as efficient.
3) They've had a lot of injuries on the OLine
4) Barkely touched the ball almost 500 times last year.

All of those, combined are the reason the Eagles offense isn't what it was last year.  That's not Nick Sirianni being the problem.  They lost their Moore and Kevin Patullo doesn't look like a good replacement... but, next year when the line is expected to be healthy and Barkley comes back a little more rejuvinated, their offense could be better by proxy, because of it.  Again, that's not Sirianni being the problem.

Apparently nobody's buying Trevor Lawrence who's passer rating ranks 29th in the league, despite being the 5th highest paid player in the NFL.

...and for good reason.  In the playoffs, you're going to need a QB who can "make a play".  Lawrence isn't that guy.
