I have never had occassion to shoot a frying pan.  In my experience they are nonthreatening.  Also, as for sport shooting them they are neither elusive, nor after shot good eating.

Hey, if someone breaks into your house with a 9mm, grab a few frying pans and you could possibly save your life.

Or I could loose my two German Shepherds and grab one of my many weapons.  Perhaps my Bull Pup, perhaps my Coach gun, one of my service weapons, or maybe I would simply beat them to death with my bare hands or my shillelagh, who knows.  Regardless, it would be a good time.
