L.A. and nationwide ICE raids/protests thread

Saagar Enjeti (a conservative) told an interesting story on Breaking Points today. Forget the exact wording but he said someone told him in 2016 that Trump getting elected would be the worst thing to happen for people who have stopping illegal immigration as a top priority, because Trump would go “full retard” and cause normal people to turn against his policies. Took until the second term, but that might be what’s happening.

Human trafficking is mostly not a thing

I don’t think so, but again, it was about “raising awareness”
  3. Have 900k illegals moved to Chicago since 2021?

Wasn’t there a giant thread about how the exaggerated but “based on a true story” movie Sound of Freedom was one of the best movies ever and did an awesome job “raising awareness about human trafficking”?
  5. There were a lot of other factors in 2021 as well though. IMO the biggest being the supply chain crisis and resulting explosion in materials costs. Plus the Biden stimulus combined with most Americans having saved more than ever during the pandemic. Then the Trump vaccine becoming widely available and giving people hope that things would quickly get back to normal, in addition to a job market that bounced back quickly after the beginning of the pandemic. I’m sorry, I’m gonna need more than “but a lot of illegals came here!” to convince me that a bunch of folks competing for the lowest possible cost housing is going to have much impact on many areas having median home prices of $600K+

Like what Abrego Garcia is accused to have assisted with, correct?
  7. @jerryskids, you may find this interesting, kinda reminded me of our conversation including some of the same topics mentioned. While Kirk has said a lot of despicable things, I thought he did a good job moderating this debate. Overall they both seemed to know their stuff, but the pro-Israel dude did stoop to name calling more often. I thought the anti-Israel dude brought up an interesting analogy about the “BuT hAmAs UsEs HuMaN sHiElDs!” argument…that’d be like if someone robbed a bank and took everyone inside hostage, and in order to stop him we just blew up the whole bank. I don’t think many people would support that. So he correctly called out the hypocrisy of people claiming to be “pro-life” but being okay with the murder of children as long as they take out some Hamas dudes at the same time.
  8. Yup, hilarious coming from the guy constantly begging for my attention.
  9. Well I specifically said it has some effect, so you’re starting out with a lie if you think I said “zero effect.” But yes, I do think it’s a bit down on the list of factors. But I’ll forgive you since you’re the only one that’s posted any actual data so far. I saw that article, but didn’t like that the link to the raw data was broken. It also states that that $25K is “over a decade,” so basically that’s saying they helped increase it by $2500 a year. So a pretty small part of the overall increase, and that’s in a city with some of the highest impact. I know real estate markets aren’t silos, but as they say, they are “local.” While a lot of people did leave cities during the pandemic, that’s still where most of the jobs are, so there’s still going to be a lot of demand. I guess you’re implying people left areas with a lot of immigrants who caused prices to rise in order to go other places? Sure, that may have happened, but that would have had to be a ton of people (and more than historically as there has always been migration of course) to really have much impact on a national scale. How about the fact that the insane spike in home prices started in 2020, when immigration was at its lowest?
  10. Still waiting on those discord screenshots of the Georgia shooter, liar.
  11. But you just said when they did “a day without illegals” that no one noticed. The two statements are inconsistent, it’s okay you can admit it.
  12. Uh, I started this thread, dummy
  13. So you agree it was BS for your friend to say he “had to” hire illegals?
  14. Weird that you call out RealTim, but not @iam90sbaby

    Guess Who the Teacher Is?

I don’t care about the movie. But I do find it funny that conservatives got all riled up by an intentionally cropped photo of people that were in the movie all along and were never meant to replace the dwarves. And even funnier that some of them, like @EternalShinyAndChrome won’t even admit they got duped.
