If the Ravens put Woodhead and Collins in the backfield together

Recommended Posts

Lets not forget, Woodhead is still a bad ass along with Collins. They may have something there. If you had both, you play Woodhead if they are expected to lose. Collins the other way. You could work it for cheap

When was the last time Woodhead was really good?

2 years ago. 80 receptions, 1091 total yards, and 9 TD's

Two years ago.

Is a long time.

Don't see him even being close to that , and not with the Ravens.

Totally agree, 2 years of being injured doesn't mean he will come back and be good.

The last time he was in uniform.

He had 1 carry for 4 yds and 3 rec's for 33 yds in BAL's first drive vs CIN in wk1 and then - poof - he was sidelined. Sure, it isn't sustainable, but 6.70 PPR points per drive is a sweet rate.

The important thing is that it was the first time that Flacco and Woodhead had been on the field together and it looked like they were already dripping with chemistry. It's significant when you consider that none of the other BAL receivers (save maybe for Ben Watson and Buck Allen) have developed into target machines for Flacco this year.

Harbough says they hadn't had a pass catcher like that since Rice... they love to throw to RB's.

Exactly and I'll take the injury risk every day all day for his upside.

Scared money don't win no money.

Raven were number 1 in throwing to their RBs last year.

I think Woodheads value should be lower then most have him ranked on his return.

The first drive I was living my pick of him (somewhat late) & then hammy pulled. I am counting on him for Flex starter #'s in PPR starting Week 11.

5 catches, 50 total yards, .5 TD'S a game ROS. That'd be averaging about 13 ppg.

Maybe.

But that Rb situation with the Ravens is and as been a ff headache this season.

I don't see anything that sales me on the fact that he will indeed produce those types of numbers.

Allen as been very serviceable in the passing game so far.

Collins is the teams best runner and then Allen get the goal line work.

The one thing I can see is that Flacco is very limited at the wr postion.

So I can see your point that he might be good for those kind of ff numbers just simply based on Flacco checking down.

Either way we shall see soon, and good luck with him.

Buck Allen fumbled at the GL last week.

I'm guessing Woodhead - as he works his way back - takes carries away from Buck Allen.

Neither should be a threat to Collins. Collins is clearly on another level and deserves to be featured.

So you think Woodhead will take away Allen goal line work?

One fumble won't cost him his postion.

I'm sticking to my thought.

I see Woodhead scoring on avg about 7-8 points per week.

And I don't see how Allen would lost his postion, when Collins seems to fumble more often.

I think it will be a ff headache going forward, Woohead just makes it even worst.

Woodhead is 32 years old and has been injured more often than he's been healthy of late.

I dont think they will play him much.

At this point he is a reserve RB who can step in for a half game here or there if the starter gets hurt and who can play on third downs.

he's not and never will be anything more than this.

he is on the decline due to age, and that decline generally begins around age 28 or 29 for most, and most RB's become unplayable after the age of 30. Woodhead has had a longer career because he's a bit of a scat back and the pounding the body takes is not as severe when you dont run between the tackles a whole lot.

all I am saying is if you have dreams regarding Woodhead, put them to rest. He's done.

But it also doesn't mean he will come back and be bad. Given the status of RBs in FF overall, where low end #2 RBs are averaging about 10-11 points a game, how can half of most leagues teams not want to take a chance on him coming back for half a year and catching 5-6 balls a game and being in on endzone targets as well? Flacco has not been lighting up in the Baltimore pass game last I checked and he can use any check down help he can get.

I like solid passing catching backs.

They will be part of the game plan no matter what.

This stated, I have him on watch. But cannot justify doing anything more than this until he suits up, rosters, and performs on the field.

There is still a chance he goes back on IR at this time.

I think Collins is taking over, not just this year but at least next

If he can hang onto the football, you would be 100% correct.

so far he hasnt been too bad, but he was a terrible fumbler in college. Probably among the worst.

if he didnt have the fumbling problem he may have been a first round pick.

There is no doubt the kid has talent. Let me be clear about that right now.

At this point, its all about whether he can continue to produce AND hold onto the football while doing it.
