I'm sure its nothing...................but there does appear to be a hint of smoke, figuratively speaking of course

Johnny Manziel is at UFC 196 to see Holly HolmMiesha Tate and Conor McGregorNate Diaz. He appears to be hanging out with Josh Gordon. Do the Cleveland Browns not have practice tomorrow?

Link to a Twitter pic of Manziel and Gordon

How dare them have fun

His last suspension arose from alcohol. Not weed. And there's a whole helluva lot of free booze in Vegas.

So, I have been giving a little thought to any ramifications this morning as a distraction while doing mindless yard work.

It has since been confirmed by Gordon that it is real and he did attend the fight with Manziel with a simple "Yep" Twitter reply.

If you are "Bad Ass" Hue Jackson who is on record as wanting and expecting a certain code of conduct from his players, does this mean you now want Zero to do with JG?

As public as Johnnies struggles have been and given what the organization has said regarding him publicly, isn't it a slap in the face to go hang out...............certainly a complete lack of awareness at a minimum that may indicate an inability to learn from the past. I'm really just exploring the Browns organizational aspect at this point but don't forget this young man is awaiting a decision from the NFL on whether he may even be re-instated.

Its all conjecture of course, that's what we are doing here, but I'm guessing there will be a draft day trade of JG by the Browns IF he is reinstated in time. I'm guessing they just won't want to go there in terms of him going to camp...............and I also think it would be best for his FF value at this point anyway.

I think if he does end up in Cleveland, guys who are thinking of him as an FF asset this year may be drastically overestimating his value. Given how unreliable he has proven to be, counting him as a starter from an organizational standpoint would be a mistake. IF he is back, I think he will be made to earn it on and off the field over a much longer period of time than anyone expects. On the Browns, I wouldn't be shocked if he would be the 4th or 5th WR for 2016.

I expect it to be a controversial take, but I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Les,

I've completely nixed him from any rankings of mine as a result of this. Maybe he didn't indulge in any of the vices readily available in Sin City. Perhaps he did just attend for the spectacle that is a McGregor fight.

But the other side of the coin, and more likely, is that he and his plus one of JFF had a good time out in Vegas. And that's a problem to me. He just. Doesn't. Get it.

As you alluded to, he hasn't even been reinstated into the NFL. Roger Goodell surely is aware of the fact that he and Manziel were together. As is the Cleveland F.O. including Hue. I think the last thing that any of the aforementioned powers that be want their currently suspended wide receiver hanging around with the NFL's poster child for alcohol abuse.

As far as he's concerned to me, I wouldn't touch him in a fantasy draft if I had the Mr. Irrelevant pick. In dynasty, I wouldn't even give up end of the bench fodder for him. Perhaps you and I are taking a "sky is falling" approach, but I am currently doing an MFL10 (yes I'm nuts) and he went at the 3.01. People cannot shake this guy lose despite his inability to take control of his priorities in life. They can have him. I want no part of it.

Amen , this i agree with wholeheartedly. It's sad to him suffer like he will for blowing what could be a great carrier . He needs the Power of Prayer and the NFL is just not into doing that for its players .

Yes, you're probably nuts.............but it takes one to recognize one!

I too am in one right now which will be delayed by MFL shutting down shortly. It includes a few big names everybody would recognize, and a few more who are the actual real deal. JG went at 4.05, or pick 41 in this group. I was still surprised it was that early but his overall ADP in real MFL drafts is 26, or 3.02.

ADP link

http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2016/adp?COUNT=32&POS=*&CUTOFF=75&FRANCHISES=-1&IS_PPR=-1&IS_KEEPER=0&IS_MOCK=0&TIME=

Obviously this was prior to the news, its not that I don't get the allure...........I just don't think that ADP was discounting any issues at all related to where Gordon truly lies right now. Even in a best case scenario for.......................... everything, I think it would be difficult for him to live up to that slot after a layoff of the current length. I wouldn't say he's un-draftable now, but he definitely must be chosen with a view he is a complete high ceiling flier with an unclear path (17th rd maybe?). I'd actually rather take him in a managed league rather than a best ball knowing that he can be an early drop rather than locking in a potentially wasted slot.

Oh, and don't bother searching for my draft ...................since I knew I would probably be spending some of the last slots on rooks I secreted my info including email for this one. :nono:

Now they are roomies (Joshua and Johnny Football) apparently, not just hanging together in Vegas...............in an apartment........... off Sunset Blvd, oh man!

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15176905/johnny-manziel-says-living-von-miller-denver-broncos

"Johnny Manziel says he has found a roommate who is on a quest to get the troubled quarterback back into the NFL.

"I'm living out here with my guy, Von Miller. Everybody knows Von Miller. Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller, my brother. I'm living with him right now," Manziel told TMZ on Saturday night. "We're getting our lives together, bro."

Manziel's comments were made in the West Hollywood area. Manziel briefly commandeered the TMZ camera before the videographer started asking him questions.

However, sources tell ESPN that the quarterback is actually not living with Miller. Instead, the sources say, Manziel is living with Cleveland Brownswide receiver Josh Gordon in an apartment off of Sunset Boulevard.

Gordon, who was suspended for the entire 2015 season after violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, applied for reinstatement to the league on Jan. 20 and is awaiting word from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell."

Wow, this is such a nothing story I cant believe how much attention it is getting.

He attended a UFC fight.

big deal.

if people saw him partying in the bars I could see this story having some value, but attending a UFC fight in vegas?

sure lots of trouble can be had in vegas, I dont deny that.

but if hes a fan of UFC and has the means to attend a fight live it is well within his rights to go.

dont get me wrong, I'm not a fan of his and will probably never draft him, but in THIS PARTICULAR CASE I think hes getting a lot of heat for no good reason.

I am sure the NFL will be testing all the affected parties to make sure they didnt have too much fun (because the NFL is like that) and if the results are negative they wont have any issues as a result of this night out.

The UFC fight, in Vegas, with pics of him and Manziel is the old "nothing story". The update is now they are roomies. Could be something, may be nothing, after all its a "free country", though I'm not sure that's how the NFL views it.

Something is definitely delaying the Gordon reinstatement which I think is the primary interest of FFers and fans.

I dont think the NFL can stop them from going to sporting events. I dont think the NFL can control the company they keep either.

But I'm sure they feel if theres smoke there is likely also a fire.

I'd bet money one or both of these guys has already been called in for a 'test'

Obviously weed is addictive

The same way alcohol is addictive. Some have a real problem, most don't.

Absolutely not. Alcohol gets people in its grips and doesn't let go til their life is in shambles. Then they have AA meetings and your life is controlled by it. Weed smokers smoke because they want to, there's nothing addictive about it. I know plenty of people who smoked off and on at will, myself included at a few points in my youth. Any weed smoker will tell you it's not an addictive vice that causes withdrawl. That's the real evil, when your body refuses to go without and you get sick.

Gordon's problem is he isnt very smart and he is reckless. He keeps trying to time his weed smoking around tests and fails.

The reality. Alcohol does not affect all people the same way.

I can go out and have 3 beers and go home and be fine.

I know a guy who can go out and have 2 beers and hes a mess.

Not all people are the same.

some people get addicted to alcohol the day they have their first drink. others drink off and on their whole lives and never have a problem.

The same thing happens with most any drug. I know a gal who is a mess if she touches weed. I know a guy who smokes it often and hes fine.

unfortunately the law (especially the NFL Law on drugs and booze) deals in absolutes.

But if you wanna play football and make millions of dollars, you follow the rules they set out regardless of how you feel about the rules.

Ask the people in Alabama and mississippi enacting discriminatory laws and trying to legislate and force their beliefs on others. Getting too full of dogma can be like other vices.

Getting back to Josh Gordon, absolutely ridiculous. If it were a tv show script you'd roll your eyes at how contrived it is

I dunno.

You would think that if you have millions of dollars to make, you could keep off the weed for just a handful of years.

Then you can smoke the rest of your life if you like.

I understand the desire to go out and have fun. I have my share of bad habits, but I'd give them all up if it meant making over a mil per year.

Now this kid is likely shelved for a very long time. Maybe for good.

Yeah and look at the world trying to force their ways and beliefs on those that believe their faith .

It works both ways .

With God J Gordon has a job in the NFL , relaying on Alcohol and weed the things of this world he doesn't .

Let's compare would you rather have the carrier R Wilson is having or the one J Gordon is enjoying ?
