Impressions of top 24?

 

Here are my top 3 and bottom 3 guys and girls:

 

1. Ramiele Malubay - The only one that did a slow song successfully. Really strong voice, she's my early pick to win this whole thing.

2. Amanda Overmayer - Rocker chick is awesome. I love her voice. I don't think I will get sick of her, but I have a feel America might. I see her going far, but I don't think she has a chance of winning unless she takes it to another level and just starts killing it vocally.

3. Carly Smithson - Didn't do well last night, but the voice is too good and she seems very experienced with the stage. She will go far in this.

 

10. Kady Malloy - Hottest chick in this...except that Noriega chick. But she has a horrid voice and I don't see her going far.

11. Brooke White - How did she even make the top 24? She is like a camp counselor singing to little children, not an American Idol.

12. Joanne Borgella - Her voice doesn't suit her body and it freaks me out a little bit.

 

1. David Archuleta - I really like this little focker's voice, if he smiled less, I would like him more. Too happy for me.

2. Michael Johns - Didn't like his thing last night, but Bohemian Rapsidy was amazing during Hollywood week.

3. David Cook - I don't see anyone else that can beat the top 2, but Cook did a good job last night.

 

I would put Chikeze on the bottom 3, but being the only black dude in the competition, I don't see him leaving anytime soon.

 

10. Garrett Haley - Don't like his voice, attitude or looks.

12. Jason Yeager - If I would put my money on anyone leaving the show tonight, it would be this guy. Who bleeches a strip of their hair anyways?

As da girls go, I agree with your #1, but I'm not crazy about Amanda. I like Syesha Mercado and Asia whatever the rest of her name is, and I see Carly being very close their as well. IMO, as far as the girls go, those 4 are very close and will make for an extremely good competition.

 

As for da guys, I think Archuleta and Johns are head-and-shoulders above the rest of the guys, except for maybe the dreads dude that the judges gushed over (I didn't like him personally, but the judges just about spooged on him).

 

I think those 6 are really in a different class compared to the rest of the competition, and I think that it'll be an awesome top-5 no matter what the mix is, and probably the best competition yet.

Maybe so, all I'm saying that he will be the recipient of the teenage girl vote. That's what kept Sanjaya on the show for so long, and that will factor into Castro's success as well. Castro goes to my church here in Rockwall. He sings there about once every couple of months or so. It's a pretty big church (9,000 congregation) so he's used to performing in front of crowds (albeit not the millions he's doing now) . Song selection for him will be important, though. I wasn't real jazzed about the song he sang the other night. It was kind of too goody goody for me. He can sing much better than he did the other night when it's a normal song.

I thought it was an average week for the men. Chikeze and David Hernandez showed me something, but others just didn't make any movement in my rankings.

 

Top 10 men ranking:

1. David Archuleta - It was a good week for him. Loved the Lennon song choice. At this point, I don't think anyone can overtake his #1 place.

2. David Cook - Liked him this week, electric guitar was something new.

3. David Hernandez - 3 Davids on the top 3. This guy has a great soul voice, he can blow it out. Might have even a better voice than Archuleta

4. Michael Johns - Bad week for him, didn't perform well, but will be around for a while.

5. Chikezie - I really liked his song this week. And like I said, as the only black dude in the competition, he'll stick around.

6. Danny Noriega - This chick is hot dude. I liked the Carpenter's song and I think she did well this week. I think votefortheworst.com made a bad choice on who they want to "win".

7. Jason Castro - Biggest drop this week. He showed me he is just a one trick pony and can't do anything without his guitar. Sorry JWood. Jason is very talented, but I don't think he is fitted for Idol.

8. Luke Menard - I actually liked his performance, but his voice is on the edge of annoying.

9. Robbie Carrico - Again, not a fan of his voice. He has more of a pop voice, but he tries the rocker voice too much.

10. Jason Yeager - Will be very surprised if this guy does not get kicked this week. He blows.

Top 10 Wemen - Wow, what a horrible week for them, bad bad voices and bad song choices. It was hard for me to pick anyone after Carly for the #2 or 3 spots.

 

1. Carly Smithson - Godddaaammmnnn what a voice. She definitely does have the best voice in the competition, she did that song very very well. But I just don't see her winning this competition because she lacks personality.

 

2. Syesha Mercado - I actually liked the song choice and I dig her personality. But she didn't put any energy into the low parts, which made the song boring and flat.

 

3. Ramiele Malubay - Shakey performance this week. Bad song, wasn't in tune, but at least she was having fun.

 

4. Alex Lushington - Meh, musically she is pretty good, but I don't think the song was good and I don't think her voice was good this week.

 

5. Kristy Lee Cook - She's hot, but she's nothing special. I also don't like her singing stance.

 

6. Brooke White - Vocally speaking, I think is one of the worst singers in the competition, but what saves her is her personality and looks. She is very cute. Oh, and I bet she gets the religious votes since she claims she doesn't do anything "bad".

 

7. Asia'h Epperson - She begun really flat and kept messing up, then she focked up. No excuses for that. But she did recover alright.

 

8. Alaina Whitaker - Average performance, didn't show me anything except she can sing a Grease song that most women could sing.

I would switch 2 and 3, but not a bad list.

 

But none of these girls will be able to compete with that David Archuleta. Unless he totally chokes or hits puberty, he's a lock.

Rocker chick and Asia'h are done this week. In the mens, I wish we would loose "Dude Looks Like a Lady". It was a very bad week for both , but the men really slid.

Archuletta is like 16 what do you expect from a 16 year old in front of a 30 mil + audience for the first time ? I wuld say I have no clue where he fits in the music industry but the guy has a focing great voice and seems like a nice kid.

 

as for the 4 you mentioned Bo was good on AI sucks ass in real life , Constantine sucked and was a fake ass rocker anyway , Vonzell - don't remember her , Carrie though -- IMO Carrie is the closet thing in country music vocally to Allison Krauss - as far as how good she is !

Agreed with 1-3...though 2 and 3 are a tossup to me.

4. Castro...yes, the guitar is his security blanket, but his voice is smooth and far more polished than some of the others.

5. Chikezie...much better this week and pushing the top few after Archuleta.

6. Johns. Down week for him, I just did not like it and he is being pushed by the judges...they should have hammered his vocals this week.

7. Carrico. While I don't like him and think he is fake with the rocker and should stick to pop...he was better than the others.

8. Noriega. The carpenter's song was a terrible choice as Ruben had already made that his thing and sang it far better than Danny. But vocals are not his problem...the fact that he performs like a woman and is a terrible performer at that bothers me. His mannerisms are distracting and annoying and he plays a certain stereotypical sista with an attitude with the head waving crap. Just awful.

9 and 10...take your pick...but were terrible. Probably the blond streak kid out first as his dancing was god awful and his singing was worse.

Might have some differences here for me.

1. Brooke White. Great choice...her voice is not nearly as bad as you claim and she was far better than anyone else last night IMO.

2. Kristy Lee Cook. I really liked her choice and voice last night. The stance does not bother me...except she should bend over more to show off the goods.

3. Carly...hard choice here as I thought the girls sucked last night and she was a bit off IMO. I do think she is more talented than most of the others though on the girl side.

4. Ramiele. Great voice...tons of potential

5. Syesha...boring song, but she did it ok.

6. Lushington...meh..not that memorable for me last night.

9. Asia'h...if you are going to do Celene, you better be good. That was just awful and most of the notes made me completely cringe.

10. The single worst performance I have heard at this stage in the competition ever. If she had done that in any earlier round, there is no way she would have made it through. She has one trick...and she even sucks at it. I have heard far better singers doing kareoke around here than her. And the hair...good lord. Just awful. She proved in the beginning parts of that song that she simply cannot actually sing.
