2009 NFL Draft Weekend Team Thread: Seattle Seahawks

Recommended Posts

Well, I anticipate this thread will soon hit 20+ pages, so I might as well kick it off.

Just say no to Stafford or Sanchez.

Ruskell is still on my sh!tlist for sub par drafting for the last few years. You better shape up, mister.

I'm going on record as saying I hope the Hawks can trade down but if not I would like Crabtree; however, I am open to almost anyone being considered at # 4, especially Curry or one of the 2 OTs. The QBs, meh, but I don't hate them either. I think one these guys will be a positive addition to the team and I simply do not dislike any of them.

Curry or Crabtree. For the love of all things holy, not Sanchez. Enough with the USC players. I get it. Tatupu is great. You reached, you scored. But Lo Jack is a stiff....so far. Stop with USC. Look for another conference with your first couple picks of a draft. Fock. Pac 10 is in your backyard, yet you get star struck, Ruskell. You could have grabbed a Kevin Boss 2 years ago at the end of a draft, and not spent a high pick on that crappy TE we have now, whose name I can't even remember. Carson? Carlson? Perkins? Who cares? I hate that pick so much, it's a repressed memory. Like being asleep and suddenly feeling your uncle with his whiskey breath cup a hand over your mouth and tell you not to make a noise or he will kill you. Then flip you over. And you have to sleep on your belly for the week, because you have an ouchie in the naughty place.

What was the question?

As far as I can tell, there is one, and only one, advantage to drafting Sanchez.

You will then be able to go on NFL.com, and for a cool $259.99 (plus $4.99 in shipping charges), buy a customized #6 Seahawks jersey, where you'll be able to put in your own customized name above the number. And if you're going to customize the name, really the only option you should consider is:

Maybe we can get Fumbleweed to change the title of this thread to ***The Official Repressed Childhood Memories Thread***

Geez, it's only Friday.

Feels like the day before Christmas. Although my parents didn't believe in giving gifts on Christmas, so I usually got nothing from them. But I used to gift wrap empty boxes and hide them from myself so that on Christmas morning I could open them up and be disappointed.

Counting down the minutes, and drinks.

Stupid grill was out of propane, so my day is really off to lousy start. It's 85 degrees, I have the oven blazing in my home, and I'm sitting in front of a fan, sweating. Drinking on an empty stomach, Sam Adams and straight rum.

I'm in a really pissy mood today.

I'm a big propenent of best player available, at every pick. Take the talent, and let the lineup decisions work themselves out. That's what I will be whining about all day.

Those of you who want to draft for need, what holes do you want to fill, and how early in the draft? Go.

Exactly. Except for the lack of grilled meat and vegetables.

Let the venom begin. Ruskell, you numbskull. I'll kill you if you screw this up.

For those of you expecting a thread full of top notch analysis, you've come to the wrong place. Sure, I try to stay sane for a while every year, but eventually devolve into a rambling mess that ends up in the backyard screaming at lawn furniture by the 3rd round.

But by no means am I kidnapping this thread. Everybody, please post without any hesitation and ignore my idiocy. There were years where we only had 3 or 4 guys at most trading posts inside this thread. Now, we have many more Seatle potential contributors. Draft day is an event.

Thanks in advance.

You sure you're gonna last past the first round p-bear? At least you won't have to wait for hours to see what your team does with their pick.

Seems the Seahawks could go any number of directions at their spot. Sanchez, Crabtree, Curry? Or trading down, though it seems no one is willing to jump up that high.

I really have no idea what to expect from Seattle.

The only benefit to a bad season is the following year's draft. But, injuries. What can you do? I'm sure I'll pass out at some point, but I plan to be here for the 2nd round pick today.

The world is Ruskell's oyster. He can go in many directions. From his interviews, we anticipate that he wants to grab an impact player, since he and the fans agree that Seattle is not rebuilding, but still a potential contender. Curry or Crabtree make sense, while guys like Monroe or Sanchez would be likely backup players. Impact is the key. If Curry and Crabtree are gone, I can see a trade down, if somebody has a decent offer.

I will give the front office credit. Nobody is really sure what they want to do. Good poker face. But Sanchez would be a downright disaster. I didn't like him at all in college, he will be a third string quarterback until Hasselbeck retires. A collasal waste of guaranteed money.

Also, you guys are going to love Weaver. Nice pickup.

Hey Guys, haven't been over here much but had to come over for Draft Day

Last Draft of TR's 5 year contract. Is hew going to build the OLine and running game for the long term benefit of the team. Or is he going to go for some kind of a flashy pick in the hopes of protecting his job

Not long to wait and see now. About 1 hr

The flashy pick would probably be the more talented player in this case.

I think we will get a RB somewhere in Rounds 2-4, and an offensive lineman or two later in the draft, but I don't think they go O line first day.

I agree that the running game needs help. The I'm not happy about the defense last year either.

I tend to disagree on needs on Defence other than a safety and/or OLB (coverage) with most. The Seahawks were up near the top of the league defensivly in Yards given up / opponents drive and points given up / opponents drive. They just need to give less drives to the opponents. Oline is what they need to achieve that. And no matter what anyone says, they are not going to replace Jones and or Hutch in the 4/5 round.

I'd love to see OT with 1st pick, C with 2nd pick, RB with 3rd pick.

I mean, it's #4. They can't do it again, can they?

Stafford off the board. Good. I didn't have him in my top 10.

Top 3 players

Aaron Curry

Michael Crabtree

Jason Smith

I'd like one of them.
