Kopy 570 Posted April 26, 2009 Kopy, I agree. How about bringing in Derrick Brooks for one year to help mentor Curry? I love that move personally. Even a signing bonus, and an incentive leiden contract will be far less than the 8 mil a year Hill would get. He's also familiar with Bradley's cover 2 D and he still wants to play. Go ahead and give him a 2 year deal (which is what DD Lewis has also). And ride both of them out for a couple of years.
phillybear 366 Posted April 26, 2009 Well, I may not be around for the 5th round pick, but I'm sure it will be a dumb one. Just throwing this out there. I would not be opposed to drafting Louie Sakoda PK with a late round pick. The guy was such a tremendous college kicker.

Kopy 570 Posted April 26, 2009 By my roster, we still need some bodies at some positions. Also camp bodies to push people or at least be backups should play a part. I've never found a problem with having a talented practice squad. Depth we need: FB,TE. Positions to take fliers on to maybe win the job, or at least a backup. P,LS, secondary (safety position) And of course, never count out the QB,RB,O-Line postions should someone fall and now the kid becomes a BPA when we come up to pick. Kopy 570 Posted April 26, 2009 O.K. Butler better be good.
Kopy 570 Posted April 26, 2009 Going ove some cliff notes on Butler. He broke Engrams all time recieving record at penn st. He is alot along the lines of Branch and Engram (But faster) . Good hands, gives 100%, plays special teams, not bad route running, and has smarts and is super fast. He could really excell in the slot. I could compare him to last years draft of DeSean Jackson of the Eagles. (Probably more raw though. Jackson came right in, Butler might need a year) Over at the bad place. Matt Waldman like the kid/pick. At ESPN. Both Jaws and Kiper really like him for us. Macshay (sp??) likes him, but thinks it's too high.
Groundhog 24 Posted April 26, 2009 well I guess we can kiss goodbye any shot at Andre Brown, unless we want to unload another mid-round pick from next year. Aargh. Butler seems like a nice Engram replacement, but don't we need a guy who can stretch the field? Or will everyone be running slants this year?
phillybear 366 Posted April 26, 2009 Butler is a piece of sh!t. The guy stinks. I didn't have him in my top 200. We could have signed him as a free agent, for fock's sake. To give up multiple picks to trade into the third round and REAAAAAAAAAAAACH for this guy with the speed of turtle with one leg, elusiveness of a tackling dummy, and the hands of Johnny Deep in that scissors movie is inexcusable. Ruskell. Idiot.
Groundhog 24 Posted April 26, 2009 Rashad Jennings or Coye Francies would be acceptable picks in rd 6. Anyone else merits a flaming bag of poop to Ruskell's front door.
The Moz 69 Posted April 26, 2009 kinda shocked they didn't select a RB -- with only Duckett and JJ - they might be the worst running team in the NFL.

FlaHawker 24 Posted April 26, 2009 Mike Mayock I think summed up the Hawks draft nicely: Curry and Unger is as solid a draft as you can have. The progression of Deon Butler is key. If he develops, this is a GREAT draft!
phillybear 366 Posted April 26, 2009 So, we wait around until the 6th round for our next pick, Mike Teel QB, from Rutgers. If any of your folks visit the gambling threads, I ripped Teel on a regular basis for years. He is one of the worst college QBs I've come across. Sure, he has a little bit of skill. But he is a dummy. He stinks in completing even the simplest of passes.l Think David Green but 3 time worse. I can't begin to express my disgust with this pick. I didn't have him in my top 300. I can't begin to express my digust in this pick, another guy I didn't expect to get drafted. Ruskell, Day One Grade: A Ruskell, Day Two Grade: F-

Seattle is trying to sabotage the great success of Day One with hideous moves on Day Two.
phillybear 366 Posted April 26, 2009 7th round Courtney Greene, FS, Rutgers - pretty decent value pick. No complaints. Nick Reed, DE, Oregon - didn't make my top 330 player list. No clue who this is. Cameron Morrah, TE, California - Meh. He was in my top 200. Bleech. I was abslutely sick to my stomach seeing all those decent QB prospects still on the board in the 7th when we were picking, but we grabbed that flaming pile of suck in Teel the round before. Teel had no business being drafted. None. Butler and Teel brought down the overall draft. Fantastic 1st day, extremely clumsy 2nd day. I'm too disappointed to give an overall grade. Focking Teel. phillybear 366 Posted April 26, 2009 Curry or Crabtree. For the love of all things holy, not Sanchez. Enough with the USC players. I get it. Tatupu is great. You reached, you scored. But Lo Jack is a stiff....so far. Stop with USC. Look for another conference with your first couple picks of a draft. Fock. 7 picks. 3 guys from the Pac 10. 2 guys from Rutgers. Penn St and Wake Forest round it out. Hey, sh!tdick, there are other conferences out there. You know how teams like Utah, Hawaii, and Boise St are making the BCS bowl games? Guess what. They have talent. So stop picking players exclusively from overrated major conferences. You limit your choices, moron. I swear, Ruskell is a simpleton more often than not. Stop shopping at the same focking stores and start comparing prices at other places. Or are you too focking lazy to do that? What, you need to troll Craigslist to have some fun with gentlemen rather than do your homework on the draft?
remote controller 143 Posted April 27, 2009 It is a sad day when the Freakin' Lions thread rules the draft weekend. We all failed!
MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted April 27, 2009 I think Julius Jones is a good buy low in dynasty leagues, pair him up with Justin Forsett and i think you will have a decent #2 RB for a few years. Before someone reminds me, I know seattles running game didnt produce last year, however fantasy football is based upon this upcoming year. And there shouldnt be a ton of injuries to seattles offense this season.
Portis26 0 Posted April 27, 2009 Courtney Green was considered a 3rd rounder last season, then Rutgers got off to a bad spot and his play dropped. He is a hitter, and will play SP/T right away.

Im guessing the hawks saved money on jet fuel used by the scouts...3 scouts attending a few games and mainly watching sportscenter.... why no graham harrell? focking hasselbeck is going to get hurt putting his socks on week 1 and he will never play again

Devin Moore (5'9" 190) was a free agent signed by the Hawks same size as Forsett and faster (ran a 4.36 40) Not sure if Forsett will be worth much.

Teel at least played in a regular pro set offense, and his numbers weren't terrible. And if they thought Hasselbeck is at risk for not playing again, you think they would have passed up Sanchez? I hope what you state is indeed the case...but from what Ive seen...back injuries and quarterbacking is a bad combo..plus hes not that young..we saw what came in after Matt was hurt last year...guys who wouldve struggled in AF2.... you need curry...thats a solid pick... if matts back holds up, this team wins the west....if not..its quite the drop off.... i still like harrell though...
