Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called out transphobia after the Annunciation Church school shooter was identified as transgender woman, 23-year-old Robin Westman. 'I have heard about a whole lot of hate that is being directed at our trans community,' Frey said. 'Anybody who is using this as an opportunity to vilianize our trans community or any other community out there has lost their sense of common humanity. We should not be operating out of a place of hate for anyone.' He added: 'We should be operating from a place of love. Kids, kids died today. This needs to be about them' The shooter, who grew up in nearby Richfield, changed her name to Robin in 2020, at the age of 17. The name change petition stated that Westman 'identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification'. Officials said they are looking into Westman's motive but said she has no extensive known criminal history.

    I agree. I don’t classify trans as mentally ill however. How can we enforce keeping mentally ill people from owning guns?

    If you want to argue with me about points I make fine. But if you’re just going to question my integrity you’re wasting your time. There are people here who believe that trans is a severe mental illness. I do not. But I DO believe that those with severe mental illness should be prevented from owning firearms, 2nd Amendment or no. If it could be proved to me that trans is a severe mental illness then I would be in favor of prohibiting them from owning firearms.

    It appears a certain percentage are extremely violent and dangerous. I don’t know the % but it’s enough to be concerned. The are fine trans people just like non middle eastern muslims. But there are pockets that pose a danger

    It would be unconstitutional to prevent trans people from owning guns. You SHOULDN'T support that. And of course banning guns is at the top of your list. You SAY you're not but that's only because at the moment it's not going to happen. If there was a serious proposal to do so you'd sign on in a heartbeat.

Trans people aren't the most vulnerable in our society - they are among the most dangerous.

    I assume trannies have been using ladies public restrooms for decades without incident until trans stuff became a culture war flashpoint in the past 5-10 years or so. I also doubt sicko predators were waiting for permission to enter the ladies room.

    Well, dumb shiot is a matter of perspective. Progressives: We want to medically trans the kids! Conservatives: That's focking stupid! Progressives: Conservatives whine non-stop! If you'd like, we can take turns listing things over the course of history which both sides have complained about. I think you know you'll quickly lose that battle because, well, see the definition of progressivism. I think the problem is that for most of history, progressives whined, and conservatives mostly just sat back and let them whine. But now with the internet, conservatives are whining back, and you don't like it. Also because it is different than the past, it seems disproportionately large.

Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, saw a parade of angry parents speak out at its school district's board meeting Wednesday night amid the local controversy involving the biological male making the team. An anonymous parent told Fox News Digital that her daughter did not make the cut for the team while the male student did make it, prompting her daughter to break into tears after her first day of school Monday. The mother said the trans athlete quit the team the very next day amid the controversy. The anonymous parent and another parent, in a Facebook post, claimed that the school's girls' volleyball coach quit her position amid the situation and is now only coaching boys' volleyball at the school. Many speakers at the District 211 board meeting on Wednesday spoke in opposition to trans inclusion in girls' sports, but others, in the left-leaning community, spoke in defense of it. Karen Powers, a mother of a Conant graduate, yelled loudly at the board members in outrage at girls having to compete against a biological male. Powers also referenced the apparent resignation of the coach from the girls' team. "A longtime beloved coach of the girls' volleyball team quit, and if she is here or watching, I have the utmost respect for you standing firm on your morals and values," Powers said, later raising her voice to yell, "It's not a girl's responsibility to feel uncomfortable or unsafe for the sake of a boy pretending to be a girl! He should be participating in sports designated for boys because he will always be one! When do the girls in D 2-11 get to feel safe, recognized and protected!?" Fellow Illinois mother Angela Christman, a longtime teacher, delivered a tempered lecture in opposition to males in girls' sports. "The current policy is trampling on the rights every other girl and her rights to privacy and protected spaces," Christman said.
