Guest TheCheat Posted July 11, 2005 3. Sure... I can set up any size of league that you guys prefer. If the others are game for 12-teams that's no problem! I guess the way it's set up 16, would be cool if we make it there. Hopefully we get 7 more people, If not then we can settle for 12, or 14. Thats just my opinion, I don't know what the others think. Given the greater realism, I hope we wind up w/ 16 so we can do the 4 divisions. Since we get to design our franchises' stadiums, I was also thinking it'd be cool to base our franchises where we're from (unless everyone lives on the east coast or something), choose weather factors accordingly, and see if the divisions don't take on their own characters. Anyway, just a thought.

rexnervous 0 Posted July 12, 2005 C'mon people, we only need a couple more. You'd think on a board like this, there'd be a waiting list. Seriously, from reading the baseball boards, this looks incredible. Cam - how are you going to contact us once the league is filled? I've already signed up for your newsletter, but imagine some haven't.
Guest camtheleaffan Posted July 12, 2005 I'll set up the league for you guys and sent you all a password via Private Message to join once you have paid individually for your teams. I think I just covered two questions in one sentence!

Dan Sez 0 Posted July 12, 2005 I'm putting out a call on some leagues I play in if this isn't filled today. Let's get it wrapped up and started. This looks like a time intensive type league which will scare off the casual Fantasy fan (what, you got a Real Life?) and those who talk a lot of trash but don't have the chops to back it up. I'm a bit rusty on the IDP part, so this will be a good expansion for me. Come on chumps, errr, I mean champs - jump on board. Get your wacks in while the getting is good. SmoovJello 0 Posted July 13, 2005 OK...what's the current situation on this right now? Another important question for me is also, what is the timeframe for the mock and start of the league? I'm highly interested but have this little thing called my wedding coming up on July 30. Throw in the honeymoon in the Bahamas away from a computer for the week of Aug 6th - 13th and you see why I'm worried about the timing. I'm a noob here and feel pretty confident in my ability to be utterly skooled by y'all but I would still be willing to give this a try.

SteveMy 0 Posted July 13, 2005 keeping the tread going and asking a question. When will we be able to sign up for the teams. I know the website says mid-July but I was wondering if our friend Camhad the answer. Really looking forward to putting together a mock or sorts.
SmoovJello 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Any chance of getting a conditional hold on a position until Cam can get back with answers to the questions I asked? I'm in as long as the timing doesn't conflict with my wedding/honeymoon. I welcome the potential pain! Spending $25 - $30 on this seems reasonable but I highly doubt being able to talk many of my current FFL members into dedicating the time and/or money this one would require. The wife-to-be may not appreciate all the time I will be on the 'puter but it wouldn't be a huge departure from my normal football season behavior anyway. Guest camtheleaffan Posted July 13, 2005 Hey folks, I think that we are there! We are not solid on the timing timing of the mock yet but if there are any conflicts (such as weddings and honeymoons) we can always find a replacement and get those that are indisposed set up on another league. 1. Mike MacGregor 2. Theyhateme459 3. Tankslap 4. rexnervous 5. TheCheat 6. Grigs Allmoon 7. SteveMy 8. Tough Guy 9. Wildman 10. ShaneFalco 11. Dan Sez 12. stoops22 13. Antonio Gates' Gate 14. Blitzen 15. SmoovJello 16. rotochamp1 There might be a little movement from this list as a understand that a couple folks might have conflicts. As such, anyone else that is interested please let us know in thise thread and either we can slip you into this league or was can set up another. You guys can all expect a Private Message next week with the details on how to get registered and start to set things up for your first foray into the vaunted "Free Agency Blitz". In the meantime, we are taking a survey that we will be posting in the site as part of an article that discusses who will garner the top contracts under the gamedayritual structure. I will kick it off here with a few of my own picks and please chime in (really looking for insight and fodder for the article here!). Your own lists and ideas would be great! 1. Peyton Manning ($18M/year, 3 years, PB) gamedayritual, like the NFL, is a QB driven game and as your QB situation goes, so does your team (to a great extent). Since you can't run 3 RBs at the same time the focus shifts a bit towards QBs and WR (esecially if you operate passing heavy formations). I like Manning as his completion ratio is huge and can be used in a West Coast or Fun and Gun scheme to maximize his value. I would give him more if injury was not such a huge concern in eating up close to 20% of my salary cap). Also gave him a performance bonus as I don't think it is humanly possible for him to live up to last year's stats. 2. Dante Culpepper ($14M/year, 3 years) Still young and can do alot on the field, even when he is not on his game. Worried a bit about the loss of Moss but Dante can still run the ball and as such fit really well into any offensive scheme (run, pass or balance oriented). Flexibility and youth is the key here. 3. Ladainian Tomlinson ($12M/year, 3 years) The premier, undisputed RB out there. This is alot of money and alot of years to offer a RB (NFL teams never pony up this much up for a RB) but my traditional fantasy football insticts still say to me that it is worth paying for a stud RB. He'll also have over 400 yards receiving and as such can work in a Run Heavy or West Coast offensive scheme well. Let's hope he doesn't pull a Terrel Davis or Jamal Anderson halfway through this big contract and end up as a salary cap black hole. 4. Randy Moss ($10M/year, 1 year) This could be a TOTAL bust pick depending on how Collins and him connect in OAK and as such I am not willing to give him the long term deal (yet). Having said that he can also put up a 1500Y/15TD season as the anchor of my receiving core. With injuries last season a performance bonus is not the way to go --- he will definately improve from 2004. 5. Donovan McNabb ($9M/year, 3 years) Consistency is an issue, especially depending on how things play out with T.O. This can be frustrating to build a gamedayritual offense around as you really don't know if McNabb is going to be running, passing or doing nothing on a given Sunday. Having said that, he is so talented and can produce numbers in so many different ways that he makes my list.

Part of it depends upon everyone's bidding strategies, obviously. It's also good to know that it's a QB/WR "heavy" game. Haven't read the rules that closely yet. But hard to disagree with your picks, except I'm not that high on McNabb. And Moss will be interesting. But what's cool about your game is this - Manning is twice as expensive as McNabb. Is it better to save that $3M/yr to bid on a second-tier RB. Who knows. Should be fun.
