Farmer Bernie 0 Posted March 30, 2006 No link, just a bunch of buzz on the Texans message boards. It starts at post #497 Seems WIP in Philly and NBC 2 in Houston are saying that Moulds and the Texas have reached a contract agreement. All that's left is for Houston and Buffalo to reach a trade agreement. I believe Buf was asking for a 4th or 5th rounder.

texasmouth 1 Posted March 30, 2006 Great pick up for the Texans. I really thought Moulds would end up in Philly but i guess they are pressing forward with the guys they have.

Kitrick Taylor 0 Posted March 30, 2006 David Carr's prospects just keep looking better all the time. It appears the new coaching staff is going to put an offensive line in front of him that won't allow him to be sacked every other down. It's also very likely they will draft Reggie Bush who IMO is a lock for 6+ receiving TDs next year. Give him some time and AJ and Moulds wide, Carr is a legit 20+ TD guy this year. Gabriel Balcavienga 0 Posted March 30, 2006 supposedly he created a list of 5 teams he wanted to play for - the eagles being one of them along with seattle and other winning teams. i dont think any of them wanted him so he took the money from houston. What have they done for the offensive line? All I have heard is that Dan Reeves thought the problems with the offensive line stemmed from the simplistic blocking schemes they were using all of last year. I haven't watched them too closely in free agency but I can't recall them signing any of the stud offensive lineman available.
LOD01 198 Posted March 30, 2006 Carr couldn't be a legit 20 TD guy with Moss, Jerry Rice in his prime, TO and Marvin Harrison as WR's. He sucks. He's a coward and puss. His O-line takes the heat for his cowardice. The POS runs out of bounds for losses=sacks. That's not the line's fault that he can't read a defense and runs when he should pass. He has single handedly ruined the career of Andre Johnson who is totally fed up with the loser.

The signed Mike Flannigan to play C, which moves Seth McKinney from C to G, his natural position. Expect them to cut Todd Wade and make a play for some OL in the draft, especially in the 2nd or 3rd rounds (or both). Add in the addition of legitimate offensive threats - a legit WR2 (Moulds), a pass catching TE (Putzier) and an all-around game breaker (Bush) - and I believe they've done quite a bit to improve the offense and consequently make the OL better. I haven't watched them too closely in free agency but I can't recall them signing any of the stud offensive lineman available. I don't think it all has to do with personnel. Firstly, they've hired Kubiak, who will bring over the Denver blocking schemes. Secondly, as someone else mentioned, Dan Reeves noted that part of the problem could be the scheme they used to be using, so obviously upgrading the schemes with the same personnel should help. Secondly, they added Mike Flanagan who provides a veteran presence at center and should help upgrade the line a little. I doubt they're done adding people yet, either. Moulds was still their best WR....and demanded double teams every play... Lee Evens could turn out somewhat like Price who couldnt handle being the number 1 guy... the Bills have so many holes...QB issues, O-line trouble, unproven WRs ...these all will only hurt Evans...He will now see double teams each game, we will just have to see how he responds to it. sanders 0 Posted March 30, 2006 Moulds would be dumb not to accept less money to play for the Eagles. You've had to sit on a team without a decent QB for basically your whole career to go to a team that's even worse and who already has a #1 WR.

whoisjgalt 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Perhaps not quite yet ... March 30, 2006 6:25 PM ETTexans: Moulds deal not done yet The News Despite earlier reports, wide receiver Eric Moulds has not come to terms with the Houston Texans on a restructured contract, according to Harry Henderson, Moulds' agent. WGR 550 AM radio in Buffalo also reported Thursday evening that Bills vice president of communications Scott Berchtold said inital reports of the trade were false. Our View This news doesn't necessarily kill any hopes the Texans have of signing Moulds, but both sides will need to agree on a multi-year deal before the trade can proceed. For the time being, the Eagles are still in the running for Moulds. We'll keep you up to date with any new information as this story develops. linkage Reports are 4-years/$12 million. Also, the Bills might as well keep him at that price.

49ER MAN 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Does this make D. Carr a legit fantasy starter? After 2004 I thought he may be on his way but last season was a major regression..... Provided they acquire Moulds, I believe Carr would be a solid no.2 guy with potential to be a fantasy starter. They signed Putzier who can stretch the field as their TE, Moulds woudl help out AJ plus they still have Domanick Davis not to mention Reggie Bush assuming they take him at no.1. They did sign Flanagan to help the o-line. Yeah, he's an older player but if he's healthy, he can make the Pro Bowl. It seems like the Texans fnally have a clue and are helping their QB, it's about time!

This has been bothering me since I heard about the "best 3" players in the draft being a RB & 2 QBs. Texans have Carr & a very good DD. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to massage themselves down a peg or three and take the Brick? Even high third round picks & brick should benefit them more than another RB. Even high third round picks & brick should benefit them more than another RB. From what I understand, this is a fairly deep tackle draft so I don't necessarily think they would have to take Ferguson although he's the best offensive lineman in the draft. They do need some d-lineman as I believe they cut both Payne and Walker. They played a 3-4 under Capers but now that he's gone and Kubiak is in, I would imagine they would go to a 4-3 defense. I could see them taking Mario Williams to give them much needed pass rush or Ferguson to help the o-line. I don't necessarily think they need Bush seeing as Davis is a very good RB but if they believe he's an elite guy who will become a perennial Pro Bowler, then I think they'll pull the trigger and take him. Bently 0 Posted April 4, 2006 IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!! Now if can get some O-line help, their offense is looking pretty darn nice. Call me crazy, but I think this move is a prelude to the signing of D'Brick. I have to imagine that the Texans either palnned to adress their O-line in FA, and then draft Bush as an offensive weapon in the first round, or to sign an offensive weapon in FA and adress the O-line in the draft. To me it looks like they chose the latter.
