Worst injury you ever suffered?

I went wind surfing at about 65 mph. Ended up with a bad case of road rash and a PI. The doctor said being drunk was the only thing that saved me. When I fell my body went limp and I rolled.

 

My father and I were penning cows worming and dusting them. When it came time for the bull he charged and stomped me a few times breaking my right leg.

4 wheeler wreck when I was in the summer after 7th grade. I was riding on the back of it on an old county dirt road heading back from swimming. Me and the guy driving didn’t realize the brakes were bad and his little brother goofing around cut us off and when the brakes failed he had to avoid him and swerved off the road into a peach orchard. We cleared the first row but hit the second row. 
 

Threw my buddy driving over the branches and threw me cheek first into a thick one. I came down and landed on the four wheeler  Cracked my kneecap and landed on the engine and burned the inside of my knee and right leg as well. When I was on my back as soon as I came around from the concussion I could see my fractured left cheekbone out in front of my face. Of all that the burn was the most painful initially. The kneecap was a though getting over.

I fractured the 3rd vertebrae in my neck. I had to wear an old fashioned neck brace that pushed my chin up and had to sleep sitting up. This was before the halo's they have now for neck injuries.

9th grade: Sean Bemis, 5th year Senior, big black dude started it. Ran into me in the hall between classes on purpose, but I told him off, and he hit me in the jaw ... I ended up in class, bleeding, and sent to the nurse. So, he ended up getting in trouble and I dropped the charges ... was an assault on a minor cause he was over 18.

 

10th Grade: A skinhead who was known as "A$$hole Bill" played a little trick on me. He knew my Mom was out of town, and told people there was a party at my house. Long story short, I got between him and some chick, and he just nailed me in the temple and I went down. Total sucker punch. And I started to get up, and I was gonna kick his ass, but it was all clear to me that he had come to piss on my territory in the "scene" and when he heled back his steel toes and said, "If you get up, I'll kick your teeth in." and the fact he left town the very next day ...... 'cause I had people that were gonna kill him.

 

By the start of my Junior year in HS, I was a white guy with a Mexican girlfriend .... and had won some fights .... full cred. Homey.

I was 15, horseback riding in NJ with the horse at full stride, I was terrified, and I guess began hyperventilating. In fact, I passed while on the horse. I woke up on the ground and was carried to a nearby hospital (ironically it was through a wooded area and exactly across the street). I had a concussion and was hospitalized for 2 days. I've never been horseback riding since.

Oh man. So I’ve torn both Achilles, had knee surgery that they had to open up the front and the back of the knee but by far is lower back playing basketball. Went out and I’ve always said when Bill Walton talked about his back pain, being so bad that he thought about killing himself. I couldn’t possibly do that but I could also totally get it. That back goes and that’s the worst thing I’ve ever felt.

Fractured my leg in a mortar attack. I was Nine Lined Out 9 hours later and medevaced to Germany.

Tore left patella tendon in spring of 2023, tore right one in fall of 2024, still recovering from that one. brutally painful when they happened. recovery is a bear.
