$3 a gallon gas in Seattle

Recommended Posts

I just drove home from the Tar Sands (1000 mile/1600Km trip) and paid an average of $1.20 per litre for premium gas. At 4.55 litres per Canadian Gallon that works out to about $5.00 can per US Gallon ($4.00 us per gallon) for premium. The sign in the link shows premium at $3.27 per gallon. That's CHEAP :ninja:

cost me 22 dollars, then add in tolls and it was a 25 dollar day. :dunno:

I am close to getting rid of my truck.

I drive 60 miles a day, just to and from work.

I get about 15 miles/gallon.

(60/15) * 2.75 = $11.00 a day in gas. Just for my commute.

$11.00 * 5 = $55.00 a week. Just for my commute.

55 * 4.5 = $247.50 a month. Just for my commute.

So let's say I get a hybrid.

(60/51) * 2.75 = 3.23 a day. 16.17 a week. 72.79 a month.

247.50 - 72.79 = $175 a month.

That's enough for a motorcycle.  :shocking:

Not to mention the payment would drop from $550 to $450 and the $3,500 tax credit.

Fuel-economy numbers posted on new vehicles are generated by 30-year-old EPA tests in which vehicles are run without air conditioning, never exceed 60 mph, never accelerate hard enough to hit 60 mph from a standstill in less than 18 seconds and always go far enough to fully warm up the engine.

So let's say I get another car that gets about 30 mpg.

(60/30) * 2.75 = 5.50 a day. 27.50 a week. 123.75 a month.

247.50 - 123.75 = $123.75 a month.

ETA:  Damn you math!!!

Plus the new car would end up being about 100 dollars cheaper on the note.

My car gets 29 MPG, good thing I only drive about a mile each way to and from the train.

Still cost me focking 22 bucks to drive 200 miles yesterday :wall:

I ride my motorcycle in every single day that the weather permits. At 250% better gas mileage than the minivan... even at 50% better than the Matrix... it's worth it.

I'd sell it to help pay my legal bills, but the money I save on gas is preventing that from being done.

That's fine. But there's no way in hell I'd go from a Dodge Dakota to a Speck.

At a whopping 19MPG for my baby, I hope we have our people in power in the Middle East soon. A little ROI would be nice.

The price would have been $2.50, but the NFL officials got involved and screwed Seattle again.

They must be getting nervous.

I know a few small guys that are close to going out of business with these crazy prices.

Most stations have to pay for the gas before its dropped into the tank. I've seen guys writing checks for $30,000 and more.

My aunt has a credit line with 76 so they aren't pay cash in advance. They've had the station for 16 years now, so that probably helps with their credibility with the company.
