The New York Jets announced today that tight end Corey Lamkin has been waived. The announcement was made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

 

Lamkin, a 6-6, 240-pound product out of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, was signed to the Jets’ practice squad on November 8, 2005 and spent the remainder of the season on the team’s practice squad. He was signed to an NFL futures contract by the Jets on January 3, 2006. In three seasons with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi basketball team he averaged 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds.

honestly though, Brick is a fantastic pick here. i wanted the Texans to trade down and draft him for the longest time, and he could easily end up being the best pro in the draft, over both m.williams and r.bush.

I think Jets coach Eric Mangini and senior VP Mike Tannenbaum did exactly what their mentors -- Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli -- would have done: take the best 10-year lineman available. The Pats got ridiculed for taking some of the no-name offensive and defensive linemen they've signed in recent years (Ty Warren, Logan Mankins), but they've built tremendous lines -- at least on defense -- and Belichick will tell you that's why the team has been able to stay consistently good.

 

Build an awesome OL in this draft... You can play bad QBs behind a great OL... With a good defense, you can get back into the playoffs.
