Chad Johnson's act is getting old

Recommended Posts

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns fixed link

Chad says "Anyone else that feels we're not going to dominate the AFC North this year, something's wrong. "Look at the numbers. Look at the players. Look at me. What else could I say?"

Chad is a great receiver, but his yap just keeps on going "look at me". It used to be funny, but his self centered comments never get called on the table and neither did his guarantee last season that they would score 40 points a game and win out. I will say the Bengals did dominate the AFC North last year, but let's "look at me" as Chad wants us to do.

So let's examine Chad's games vs. the AFC North:

VS. BALTIMORE 2 games 10 catches 179 yards 1 TD

VS. CLEVELAND 2 games 11 catches 113 yards 0 TD (and 9 of those catches came in one game)

VS. PITTSBURGH 2 games 9 catches 148 yards 0 TDs (I won't include the playoff game without Palmer)

So vs. the AFC North he had

6 games 30 catches 440 yards and 1 TD

If you project those 6 games over a 16 game season you come up with

80 catches for 1173 yards and 2.66 TDs

That was 2005 and I don't think anyone expects the division to do anything but get more competitive this coming season.

Your link doesnt work.

Chad doesnt translate well to text. He is always joking around and that doesnt come across in an article. Cocky yes, but most of what he says is in jest. The NFL needs more personalities.

Yes, he was quoted as being "mirthful" when he said this, but he draws so much attention to himself and if he actually looked at what he did vs. his division, maybe he would leave the "look at me" out.

I'll take it as division rivalry, but lighten up. He was obviously joking.

That's a pretty good season against the likes of Pittsburgh and Baltimore. :pointstosky:

It's good to know that football is alive and well in Cincy. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a personality residing in one of the smaller markets. they need all the attention they can get. If you pay attention, he makes it a point in all interviews articles to point out who he plays for...Cincinnati Bengals.

he's like a NASCAR guy. he always points it out

This goes back to before he was a rookie, and he was talking to some of his boys. He was talking to them about how excited he was to be in the NFL. They told him something along the lines.. "Chad you're not in the NFL, you're in Cincinnati."

The Bengals are turning into Raiders East. They are collecting outlaws and braggarts and hoping they don't all turn out to be turds. Some of us like that. God bless Chad Johnson, he puts the Fun back in NFL.

And God bless Lester Hayes. :pointstosky:

Chad Johnson is an exciting player, and he gives the fans someone to root for.

I'm a Browns fan, and I still love the Chad.

You mean Joey Porter, a linebacker on the Superbowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers?

I think he is probably looking at his new

And last week he got fitted with his Superbowl ring.

But thanks for asking.

 You're actually trying to use those numbers to back up your argument? Your hatred of everything Bengals is an obvious sign of fear.

So you think 1 TD vs. the AFC North is good hun? From a one on one perspective, CJ was a mediocre WR vs. the AFC North, and my numbers do support that.

Why is ripping on division rival a sign of fear? I don't get that. I rip the Browns just as hard, does that mean I fear the Browns? I ripped Brett Favre all offseason, does that mean I fear the Packers?

People rip on the Detroit Lions like crazy, do we fear the Detroit Lions?

Your logic escapes me.

He is much more tongue and cheek than anyone else. His antics are mildly entertaining and he is good for a quote now and again. I would much rather hear him talk about how good he is while putting up good solid numbers than listening to TO whine about how he can't feed his family or listen to others justify their off-field law problems.

Say what you will, but Chad keeps his nose clean and has as much fun as he can with fellow players, opponents and fans.

You obviously didn't read the major point in his comments or mine. He was talking about the Bengals being dominant, specifically because of "him". And I wanted to point out he was NOT dominant vs. the AFC North. I didn't include the whole schedule cause CJ didn't say he would dominate the entire schedule, he specificially talked about the AFC North just like I did.

Probably not too bad seeing how he was fitted for a championship ring.
