footballpowers 0 Posted June 2, 2006 Seriously, people like you make me sick. It isn't that I disagree with you. I disagree with Fumbleweed all the time, for one example, but at least I can respect that his views are consistent and grounded in some kind of ideology. On the other hand, you're just a cheap partisan flunky and you're too stupid to even be a convincing one. I must agree w/ MDC here You are one of the most homophobic, ignorant, hateful, immature and useless posters on this board. I'll say to you what I said earlier. This chest beating, homophobic gay bashing truely makes me believe people such as yourself are closet homosexuals. Why on gods green earth would a straight man be threatened by homosexuality??? Maybe it's because you aren't so staight???

GobbleDog 1,012 Posted June 2, 2006 I completely understand Christians and Jews and such not wanting their churches to recognize gay unions. After 2,000 years of proclaiming the gay life as being sinful, that would be extremely hypocritical of them. But the state giving equal rights to gay unions as hetero unions? Who in the world cares about that? I don't see how anyone can reasonably argue against that. That just seems fair.

Very nice response. Well thought out, articulate. Impressive. I never called everyone a closet phag that posted in those threads. I said IMO people such as yourself who have no valid reason or response to your stance against gays, could possibly be gay themselves. It has been a theory for many many years that the harshest gay critics are gay themselves and it manifests itself in the form of homophobia. I do believe this is true (not in every case). Jeremy 0 Posted June 2, 2006 How am I not being honest at how I feel. I don't want gay marriage. Marriage is for a man and a woman, it's been that way since the beginning of time. If they want to be together, call it something else. Give them all the rights that a married couple has, I could care less about that. I can almost gaurantee you that this amendment will not include anything that will give gays all the rights married couples have. It will be designed to prevent rights, but it will not give anything in return. Most of the state amendments that are out there, specifically forbid the giving of these rights in the form of civil unions also. This is a political ploy to suck up to the religious right in an attempt to get them to the polls in November and maybe boost Bush's approval rating a couple points. You'd have to be the most blindly partisan person on the planet to think it's not. It has no chance of actually passing.

I am straight, I am not threatened by gays and I have no idea why anyone would be..... This actually is true. You might want to do a Google search, but I think it was a study conducted at UC-Berkeley years ago with two sets of straight men - those who were indifferent to gay people and h0mophobes. They took these two groups, attached electrodes to their weenuses and then presented them with h0moerotic images on film. The guys who were indifferent or even friendly toward gays had no real response. The guys like surferskin pretty consistently got hard. It's pretty easy to spot the closet faygos here. I have yet to hear a single response to this.... It's mostly a fear thing, IMO. If there were no gay men in the world, but we still had lesbians, this ammendment wouldn't even be considered. Few people would care if they got married or not. It's the gay men that freak people out.

Actually, this study I'm talking about involved a questionnaire about attitudes toward gays. There were people opposed to the gays for religious or moral grounds, and those people didn't get boners when they were presented with gay porn. But the guys like you who had that sort of visceral disgust for no real reason got hard watching it. Very hard.

parrot 790 Posted June 2, 2006 I'm asking him for some examples of the minority ruling. Like he says there has never been a simple majority rule. Examples would be 2+2=4. I never said anything about "minority ruling". I said it was time for you to brush up on your civics lessons, I didn't say I was going to waste my time teaching you. I will give you a tip though, it takes a two-thirds vote of both houses and consent of 3/4 of the states to amend the constitution, it is not something "the majority" just decides to do one day. They weren't surveyed about gay porn. They were surveyed about their attitudes toward gays and then tested for a physiological response. I've got no idea why they agreed to be in the study. Maybe they were convinced that they were totally straight and figured they could prove it? Maybe they were paid? You could look the study up. The bottom line is that guys like you were more likely to get boners watching man-on-man action.

torridjoe 48 Posted June 2, 2006 Why is it dumb? Gays can marry anyone that I am able to marry. Seems pretty equal to me. Congratulations. You are now using the VERY SAME logic used by the state of Virginia in order to continue banning interracial marriages. They claimed before SCOTUS that because whites couldn't marry blacks either, the "discrimination" was equal for everyone.
Voltaire 5,505 Posted June 2, 2006 For me, I don't know what makes people gay. Nobody does. There's been a lot of research, but it's unclear if it's biological or environmental. Gay people say they knew they were gay from a young age, which makes sense to me because I knew sexy women gave me a weird sensation in my pants at an early age too. I do know that most people are right handed and I'm left handed but fortunatly there's no social stigmatism in the US with that. It just seems to me that people have an inclination ("orrientation") to be gay. I don't know how they can be recruited to be gay. I couldn't imagine being recruited to being gay. Then again the men of ancient Sparta were all pretty much encultured into a bisexual lifestyle, so maybe you can be recruited. I'm not convinced that gay people can be made straight, but I think that the bi-curious can be kept from exploring that side of their personality. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing or neither. To me, I don't care what people do in their personal lives. I get nautious at the sight of gay male pornography (I had to endure graphic gay sex once when the guy at a public computer next to me was viewing it) but I'm a big fan of lesbian porn. Not interested in seeing Brokeback Mountain because any display of affection between gay men at all makes me uncomfortable. But I don't begrudge people the ability to get on with their lives. I never met a gay person until I was in my early 20s. I use to be really homophobic too, but I think I just realized they're just people like me. And I don't feel I have the right to tell them how to live their lives or who they should be attracted to. It's for them to decide not me. So I now support most aspects of the gay agenda.
