Big Ben hurt

Recommended Posts

It's not very smart to ride a motorcycle..if you are professional athlete.

Not very smart to go helmet-less

not very smart to ride a bike during the morning commute.

Since when has a pro football player ever been accused of being smart? The statistics show that 75% of them read at a 1st grade level.

If this would have happened to someone named Bob Smith no one would even give a rats arse; but since he is the second coming of Christ it's a news story. Clean up isle 4!! Bring a mop and a bucket.

A torn ACL would be sweet as I have the 1st Rd. pick of the guy who has Hines Ward and the retired trio of Jerome Bettis, Jimmy Smith and Steven Davis.

C'mon, torn ACL.

you sir have all but assured yourself of a last placed finish in your fantasy league this year B)

"Obviously Pennsylvania doesn't think people need to (wear a helmet)," he said. "There's a law you've got to wear it in football."

Wrong you idiot. Pennsylvania and every other state and anyone with any common sense at all knows that you really do need to wear a helmet. The reason there is no law is because some (like me) think it should be a person's choice rather than government mandated (same wrt the seatbelt). You know, free country and all that jazz. The counter to this is that 'if we make it legal people will miscontrue our actions and won't think that it is totally insanely morinically stupid to not wear a helmet or seatbelt.' Their side 1, my side 0.

I wish him all kinds of well but he needs to pull his head out of his TO.

Reports are that Big Ben had the green light but the driver turned into him. She was unhurt.

He should have been a defensive driver, or wrapped himself in a car.

Maybe given Ben's celebrity status in Pittsburgh, she just wanted to meet him.

At least she didn't drive home with Ben in her windshield and leave him in her garage like the lady from Texas.

Sorry, I hope Ben is ok

Hot chicks have no clue about sports, and anybody can trick them into thinking they are a professional football QB with the right clothes, car, and fake jewelry. The fat girls however are football savy, and will not fall for this trick. What is it about fat chicks and football?

the witness must have been a hot chick:

The witness said she saw the accident and went over to help but did not recognize Roethlisberger. When she asked him what his name was, she said he replied, "Ben."

I heard it was Tommy Maddox's wife.

If I were a Steeler fan I wouldn't worry, I also heard that Bill Leavy will be performing the surgery.

And the best news is that former Steeler QB Terry Bradshaw is donating some of his excess foreskin for the skin grafts that are needed to repair Ben's face. Bradshaw is a saint.

Anyone watching/listening the live feed? Interesting stuff. It's getting 9/11 coverage.

The car that he hit has a totally smashed front passenger side quarterpanel. And the windshield is smashed there right at the place where the roof support beam is. The contact was not in the middle of the windshield but where it is harder to smash. Ughh.

Charlie Batch was the first Steeler reported to arrive at the hospital. Dan Rooney is on the way.

Docs having a presser in 4 minutes.

I can't believe some of the moronic comments in this thread. 'Accidents can happen to anyone." "Motorcyclists shouldn't have to wear helmets since people in convertibles don't." First, of all accidents can happen to anyone, but people who 1) ride motorcyles and 2) ride motorcylcles without helmets are at a much greater risk than the average person. I guess there's no difference between the guy whose hobby is base jumping and the guy who collects coins?

If the argument for the no helmet rule in Pennsylvania is that people in cars don't have to wear helmets, that's some pretty scary logic. I guess we shouldn't use child seats in cars. Adults don't have to be strapped in to special seats facing backwards, why should kids?

uh, since this is a football forum, we should probably try not to start debates (that you would obviously lose) about the validity of Constitutional rights about things such as freedom of choice for ADULTS, and how babies and small children are not capable of making informed decisions... completely different politically debates...

That chick in the car must have been hot for Big Ben to jump over his handle bars and try and chew thru her windshield (losing multiple teeth in the process). Dude is tough.

Now he can have that Bradshaw style smile.

For some reason, if Ben were to wear a helmet... I see him wearing one of the smaller, half helmet type ones that just cover the top of your head... and that wouldn't have helped in this situation. I guess what i am trying to say is, no use crying over spilled milk and wish him the best and monitor his situation.

He is serious but stable. He is coherent and capable of speaking with doctors. He is in surgery now.

The accident was the other driver's fault. Ben hit his head on the windshield and the pavement.

I agree. This is for sure not the place to discuss informed decisions. I mean, people around here are posting that they will draft Tater Bell in the 3rd round and K.Barlow in the 10th and then claim the got steals with these picks. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.....................................................numb nuts.

that's good news if that's the worst of his injuries.

if he was a hockey player he'd be back in time for the 2nd period...

poor big ben, thats awful....motorcycles are a HUGE risk as a pro athlete. if you have a car then you wont be criticized as much if u are in a wreck. motorcycle wrecks always make people look irresponsible.

I think it might be more serious than "jaw surgery" - he's listed in critical condition.

god bless and good luck. my heart goes out to Roethlesburger and his loved ones - I wish him a speedy recovery and all the best. He seems like one of the really good guys, so all things football aside, god speed to him throught this ordeal and recovery.
