Thin Spirit 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Countdown to when the rest of the world sees what a horrible manager Phil Garner is.. in 3...2...1 "If you wanna steal a base, steal a base. If you wanna swing for the fences on a 3-0 count, swing for the fences. Play the game, do your own thing, I dont care." "I cant promise I'm going to play every player in here tonite, I'm going to treat this game like game 7 of the World Series because in a few months time this game is goign to benefit someone sitting in this room right now. We are going to win." Guess which quote is Garners, and which is Guillens.
Mungwater 597 Posted July 12, 2006 I know, I just heard it.. Believe me, I HATE the white Sox with a passion, and I live in Houston. Seeing Garner flop around while everyone is schlobbing his knob is sickening. Guillen is playing for possible home field for his team, while Garner is just happy to be there. The guy used a fickin pitcher as a pinch hitter, I know he got a double, but was called out because he missed the bag.. American League wins easily. BTW: Did you happen to see the Arod quote today that the wild card would not come from the AL east? The Tigers and White Sox are, in my mind, the frontrunners to play the mets in the series. BuckeyeMiniMe 0 Posted July 12, 2006 No love for the NL??? I'll root for the Nationals...Penny is basically telling these boys, "This is my fastball; hit it if you can"!

The Tigers and White Sox are, in my mind, the frontrunners to play the mets in the series. I just can't see the Tigers young pitchers going strong to the end of the season. The Tigers were as hot as can be, and this break may kill them a little bit, they are a team full of guys having career years...they could take a huge slide in the second half, I just can't see them keeping up the pace. I still think the Yanks, Jays, and Sox are going to be fight for 1st in the East and the 1 Wild Card spot. Brad Penny is on FIRE!

The Tigers don't have to win the division to win it all. thats what I was thinking, the White Sox may overtake them, but still, the WS are like 6 games up in the wild card right now. Pudge is making those guys. Their second half schedule is pretty nasty, at least, much nastier than their first half has been.

Thin Spirit 0 Posted July 12, 2006 I want to puke anytime McCarver opens his mouth I don't know which it was but the..."that's a mark wahlberg fastball...catch me if you can!" gem was pretty priceless, especially since Wahlberg wasn't even in the god damn movie. I challenge you to TiVo this game. I am willing to be that there will be at least 15 "McCarverisms" in there. He makes up words that are not even pertinent. I swear that he does acid before the game and is actually calling a game from 1974. P.S. I just heard the term "semen" in a Flomax commercial. My how this game has fallen
Thin Spirit 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Their second half schedule is pretty nasty, at least, much nastier than their first half has been. That is the key, they had a very cushy first half schedule and it gets alot tougher in the second half for this team. Now the Yanks, Sawx, and Sox...I dont know how their schedule goes...I do know though that the hardest part of the Jays schedule is over and their second half schedule is much easier than the first half schedule. They also have the majority of their series with the Sawx and Yanks coming up, and we all know they own Boston the last two years.

Many games were on the road on the first half. I would not bet against the Sox, but we have had monumental collapses before.
BuckeyeMiniMe 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Nice line-drive HR by Wright. Vlad's HR was almost over his head! I don't know how he can drive a 98 mph fastball high in the strike zone like that out of the park. The guy's a freak!

I don't know how he can drive a 98 mph fastball high in the strike zone like that out of the park. The guy's a freak! My friend used to work for a northern NH newspaper and he decided to do an article on Chad Paronto when he played for Cleveland. We went to watch Cleveland and Montreal, in Montreal! Vlad swung at a pitch that was bouncing off home plate and jacked it out of the park. I have never seen anything like it. I talked with Ellis Burk, awesome guy, and CC Sabathia, also a really cool guy. I met Vlad and he was a huge ######. His kids was there, and he was about three and they were pitching him the ball and he was jacking it out of the infield at like 3. But Vlad was still a d!ck! Vlad is just extremely shy and very introverted, that's part of the reason he didn't go play in a big market like New York or Boston he would have been eaten alive by the media. He's humble, shy, and doesn't speak english well...being that way while living in a sh*t-hole like Montreal, you would come off as a d1ck as well.

BMoney 0 Posted July 12, 2006 a nice quick game...i thought it was slow for awhile but all in all..pretty good... i thought the clemente tribute was nice..selig actually did a very good job reading the speech... the awkward moment was from joe buck..(who can be good at times, and a DA at others)... after the great speech and the fans wiping away tears...he has an arm about the widow(who was adorable).. and he says..an emotional time for the clemente family and all who he touched..whos ready to have some fun? WTF?....that was dumb... he shouldve just left it..and maybe said, on behalf of those who love baseball, thank you Robeto Clemente..and let it go to break quietly...not yelling like some wwe dude... his dad wouldve kicked his ass if he were alive and saw that... TommyGavin 790 Posted July 12, 2006 good showing by the Mets - produced both NL runs - but in the end Hoffman blew it and its just another NL loss in a long list of NL losses.
