Office flip-flop question

Recommended Posts

One of the sales people (female) wore flip flops to work today along with a very casual outfit. WHy is it acceptable for her to wear them while if I walked around the office all day in them I would get to discuss office dress code with my boss?

Wimmen get away with murder when it comes to dressing for the office. My company doesn't allow open toed shoes - one of the least enforced rules on the planet.

But hey - it beats the fatties wearing lycra stretch pants.

Becuase you're the Fat Kid and no one likes fat people?

Today I am wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and flip flops.

I was in the office the other day and I went to the bathroom and saw no less than 3 guys wearing sandals. I was like  as we work in professional building. So I head back to my office and start to mention to one of the guys in the office how it is ridiculous that these people are dressed like that and I see that he has sandals on.

I just kept walking back to my office. :bandana:

When men start getting regular pedicures and getting their feet looking nice, they can wear sandals to the office.

Women with ugly feet should also have to wear closed shoes all the time.

There should be a rule about this somewhere besides in my head.

Believe me I am not complaining about her (she is cute and here feet look nice in the flops) but why can't I.

Everyone loves 'pleasantly plump' people. When my mom took me to buy pants when I was a kid and we went to the 'Husky' section I thought we were getting a dog!

Our office seems to have this double standard as well.

Considering I am the only one who has been 'spoken to' about the length of my skirts and the neckline of my blouses. (I think I dress professionally at work). Yet I see our Accts Receivable lady strutting down the hall in platform pink flip flops and jeans and the Customer Service gal (who is extremely overweight) is not harrassed when she wears her short denim skirts with fur lined ankle boots. :dunno:

I get the same thing...

THe funny thing is around here all the dirty old men like to see the one good looking women in the office dress because she being younger dressed a little nicer/fashionable than the other hags in the office so they let her get away with anything.

I almost wish I had boobs for these kind of issues and to play with all day.

I bet you were ready to point and chuckle at them.

That happens at my job too. They wear sandels on occasion and even sneak in shorts.

I also think Skirts shouldn't be allowed if shorts are not. I used to work for a company that had a very casual dress code. I could go to work in shorts, t-shirt, sandels and a baseball hat and it was OK (so long as you weren't entertaining a customer). I think it was the most productive I ever was.

When you sit in a cube all day, why do you need to look good?

I don't care if it's fair or not, I'm not complaining about short skirts.

At least we can go out in public topless.

Try wearing a kilt, there probably aren't rules against that and it's dress wear.

great topic!!! in high school chicks used to always wear those culates (you know those shorts/skirts) and guys always had to wear jeans, even when it was like 100 degrees outside...so one day i wore some culates....was pretty funny...long story short, i got sent home....

The more comfortable you are, the more productive you are. I don't see why anyone would care what their co-workers wear unless it was so extreme they couldn't focus

Hell, in my office different departments have different dress codes. I've seen guys wearing shorts, flops, and a ratty t-shirt on a freaking Tuesday, while casual Friday for me is jeans, button-up, and tennis shoes.

In my office, guys are required to wear dress shoes, dress pants, collared shirt, a belt, and a tie. The women are required to wear dress clothes, no short skirts, no tennis shoes, no sleeveless shirts, etc. etc. You get the idea. Every day of the week I see fatazz women wearing sleeveless shirts with their fat cottage cheese arms hanging out. It is disgusting. They wear pants that are borderline sweat pants and yes, some wear tight short skirts, loose tops, etc. Some look good in them, some don't. Women can wear whatever they want. In my office experience, women get away with a lot that men don't. The whole "harassment" word makes a lot of upper management and human resource personnel run scared.
