shasha 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I'm not going to rag on them, the Giants and the Eagles looked the best by far out of that division so far with the Cowboys just slightly trailing and the skins in trouble. I have to say that the NFC East has had some great games so far this season and if Washington gets that offensive scheme rolling it is going to be a slug fest every week. The best part of the Eagles win is that it keeps the division tight for one more week, being up 2-0 and leading the division would make the climb for everyone else harder after just 2 weeks. NewbieJr 541 Posted September 18, 2006 When you have a team down 24-7, you need to step on their throat. The Eagles played wide open and were kicking ass, then Reid decides to get conservative. Generally speaking, I've always regarded Reid as a fine coach, but this one was on him. This division looks wide open. This one's going to come back and bite them in the ass. JediMaster 20 Posted September 18, 2006 Who said anyone is crying IT"S WEEK 2 !!!! Sure they blew a 24-7 lead. That usually happens when you take it easy in the second half. Oh well, the game is over and they should focus on next week not on what already happened. P.S. - Andy, teach your team how to jump on a football
texasmouth 1 Posted September 18, 2006 I think andy Reid is a helluva coach. McNabb is one of the best QB in the game and I am a big fan of Westy, it is the Eagles fans that I hate. I love to rub it in when they lose, lord knows we hear more than enough out of them when they win. I almost enjoy an eagles loss and much as a Cowboys win. famousb 11 Posted September 18, 2006 Generally speaking, I've always regarded Reid as a fine coach, but this one was on him. i think Reid is a good coach in some aspects, but i think where he REALLY lacks top-notch coaching credentials is: 1. How to protect a lead late in the game... i'm not talking about just going conservative and pounding it out, but there were times over the last few years where PHI would have a commanding lead and Reid would still want to do nothing but pass and it would leave enough time on the clock for the opponent to come back. 2. How to coach in a big game. i don't care what anyone says, coaching a big game is different from coaching a regular game... Reid has come up w/ some great game plans for playoff games, but he's also done so wholly lack-luster jobs following those game plans, or for stumbling in critical situations through playcalling... JMHO
PackYourNut 47 Posted September 18, 2006 Well, the problem is his team passes 60% of the time... Then they get up big and get away from what they do best. Its hard to pound the ball with Westy and Buckhalter... They would both get injured to quickly... Next time keep airing it out and put up 43 points like Indy does.... JMHO You hit. He's awesome at game prep, one of the best game planners. In game coaching however he's more then a little shaky. They should've hung 40 pts on the Giants but he played prevent Offense as usual. He should learn from former Giants head coach Fassel, that BS will get you fired. There is another thread bitching about P Manning padding his stats. I only wish the Eagles had done the same. No Excuses. We lost. But everybody needs to recognize the Birds are back. 3 very good teams in the NFC East. Tough loss to take because we should not have lost. An Honest Eagles fan is hard to find but I am one. bryberns 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I missed some parts of the game game, but on the highlights saw David Akers getting Pummeled on the sidelines. How did Brandon Jacobs or anyone else not get ejected for that, poor little kicker gets thrown in a pile of wild gorillas. Either way, coming into work this morning wasn't that bad seeing as I watched Eli step up again when the game is on the line, and walk into Philly and crush their hope and dreams..... PS....About the eagles being back....Kearse is probably done for the year, and you just had about as bad of a loss as you can possibly have. I'm interested to see how you guys bounce back....see you on 12/17 at Giants stadium, that should be a MONSTER game.....
Eagles Green 34 Posted September 18, 2006 Sh!tty loss for sure. But the 2 best teams in the division played in that game, Dallas is an obvious 3rd. Hopefully the birds can regroup and put that one bad quarter/OT behind them and continue to dominate. Leave it to a lame azz Dallas fan to start this thread. How's that TO thing working out for you? Maybe we'll see in 2-4 weeks.

The Next Generation 11 Posted September 18, 2006 Didn't really even bother to read all the responses in this thread, just came here to say what a horrific loss that was for the Eagles. No excuses, they lost. However, much like the Giants loss last week, the better team didn't win. The Giants should have beaten the Colts but found a way to lose. Same thing happened yesterday to the Eagles. The Eagles dominated the Giants and then for inexplicable reasons, called-off the dogs and started putting in 2nd-stringers. In the NFL, as we all know, you have to bury your opponent or anything can (and probably will) happen. I know the Giants fans must be ecstatic that they won, but they should be concerned that they got dominated and really, the Eagles lost the game more than the Giants won it. But, the Giants hung around and took advantage of every opportunity late. That is the mark of a good team. I still think the division comes down to the Eagles and Giants and I think at least the first 3-1/2 quarters of the game proved that the Eagles are legit. Great win for the Giants, congrats. Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted September 18, 2006 In most cases, I'd say this is bad form. Especially from a Cowboys fan. But a lot of Eagles fans around here shoot their mouths off so much that it doesn't hurt my feelings to watch their team totally choke away their home opener. Some Eagles fans needed to be shut up a little. This game should do just that. Like I said in one of your threads about Favre last week, Terry Silver, why don't you concentrate on your own team instead of slamming on Favre. Favre had a pretty good game overall but the Packers lost. The Eagles had a great game but didn't finish. Choke. Choke.
Cruzer 1,996 Posted September 18, 2006 Sh!tty loss for sure. unexcusable - one a "division best" team doesn't lose at home, especially with the great d. mcnabb. But the 2 best teams in the division played in that game, Dallas is an obvious 3rd. Hopefully the birds can regroup and put that one bad quarter/OT behind them and continue to dominate. best two in the division based on what, that the iggs dominated the crappy texans and then went to OT against the giants? that's absurd, as absurd as it is to say dallas is obviously 3rd - we should have beat jax just as you say you should have beaten the giants - get over it. now, do i think the iggs are good, yes i do. in fact, i've said all along that their easy early schedule is going to get them off and running - they should have the best division record the first 4 to 5 weeks in. but dallas is pretty good too (i think), time will tell i guess. Leave it to a lame azz Dallas fan to start this thread. don't be goofy, this happens just as much from you guys and you know it. How's that TO thing working out for you? Maybe we'll see in 2-4 weeks. we won y-day with his broken finger, i'd say not too bad so far. how's that $66 million dollar kearse investment working out for you guys - he's gotten you how many SBs so far......? WOW, a packer fan is calling out an eagles fan. too funny. newsflash: your team blows, and they will continue so for a few years now. enjoy. dont come around calling me out. if you were a giants/cowboys/redskin fan, you have a right to rip into eagles fans today. but you root for the worst team in the league, so keep your mouth shut. how about you packers ACTUALLY WIN A GAME before you start running your mouth. so your boytoy had a decent game against the lowly saints, and they still lost. i know you're too damn stupid to see it, but you are better off rolling in the aaron rodgers era, see what you got in him. but hey, have fun watching your pack this year, sure that will be a real good time. back to the eagles game. it was a pretty big embarrassment to see that 4th quarter chokejob. reid better learn from this and realize that there is no thing as mercy in football. this isnt collegeball; no such thing as running up the score in the nfl. i've been saying this for a few years now, but the eagles seriously need a bruiser runningback, like a stephen davis/ najeh davenport/ tj duckett type player, because westbrook showed yet again that he isnt the type of player you can hand off to to kill the clock in these type of games. eagles need a guy who can run btw the tackles and churn out 3-4 yards. westbrook isnt it. michael lewis better start showing up as well. he's been pretty suspect of late either way, on a bright side (if there is one), the eagles so far this season has played 7 solid quarters of football. their defensive line looks really impressive, as they have almost half as many sacks already this year, then they had all of last year (13 already, only had 29 sacks last year). as long as the eagles stay reasonably healthy, they should still be able to go 9-5 the rest of the year to finish 10-6. but they got the 49ers next week, so thats always a good cure for a bad loss the week before

xenophobe 1 Posted September 18, 2006 This was just one of those inexplicable games where little about it makes sense. The Giants will try and build some momentum off the win, and Philly will put it behind them. There's a three way tie for 1st in the division and a lot of football left. A couple of things to think about here: 1) As a Giants fan, I'm not sure they'd be up to the task to dig themselves out of the hole had they lost. But the somehow managed to win and should look to build some momentum off of it. 2) I think the taste of success will go a long way for the Giants young QB who had lost his stride since mid season last year. This win could be HUGE for him. 3) Philly is a very good football team who still owns a share of the division lead and should be significantly favored in the next two games. Unless they let it get into their head (and I don't think it will), this was merely a lost opportunity for them, little more. 4) There was little chance either team was going to make it out injury free. Hopefully this won't prove to be too costly.
sloracer 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Mini Manning isn't very nice... Not only did the last quarter heroics ruin the 2 and 0 start opportunity.... In FF terms the catch by Plax, and the throw by Eli (both playing against) leaped the team I was playing into the lead and ruined my 2 and 0 opportunity... TD Ryan2 316 Posted September 18, 2006 tough loss for PHI huge win for NYG IMO, these two teams have established themselves as the leaders of the NFC East. And for PHI, that's pretty good considering many had them as also-rans in this tough division. Solid defense and good quarterbacking are the keys and both PHI and NYG have it going for them. At this point, I'm not gonna devote alot of time to this team, because I see a team that doesn't give a damn. Too many mental mistakes week after week tell me the coaching staff has lost the interest of the team, or that the team is incapable of buckling down. Now their backs are to the wall, and quite honestly, I don't see them responding. Last week I wondered if anybody on the defense would step up. A few guys did today, but the main man in the middle repeatedly got blocked, and the Jags ran the ball down their throat (I put that in my thread from earlier). DT's suck right now. I did see Bunkley in the game for a few plays today, and when he was in there, he got push. He was the only one to do so. You know what, fock Andy Reid and fock the Eagles for a few weeks.
