hotgumbo1 12 Posted October 2, 2006 Every year it's the same old situation....you wait for that undrafted FF WRwaiver gem (that you probably picked up on mere chance)... hoping and waiting patiently for one of them to produce just a little. Well we've all pretty much had the opportunity to see all 4 by now and it's clearly obvious that these 4 receivers are firmly positioned to help out their respective teams. I'll admit I bang my head against a wall watching the likes of Colston and Cotchery reaching red. Afterall, like alot of us, all I had was preseason performance and scouting reports and nothing else. In my decade old league, Colston was had for $1, Cotchery was had for $0 by Week 2. Jennings was actually drafted in the 16th round (Michigan homer). And after watching Berrian be the repeated target of Grossman's deep throws in tonight's game, my $1 to pick him up seems to be working out. TONIGHT 113/1 TD FOR SEASON 3 TDs of 40 plus yards. OUTPERFOMRING my starters Holt and Owens. In my league where bonus yards are rewarded, the man is so far is my waiver wire gem of 2006. Now if I had only started him instead of DMason. I know yada, yada the season is young. But I ask. Who missed out on these (so far) waiver gems?
jerryskids 6,797 Posted October 2, 2006 I drafted Jennings late, 12 team league, combined WR/TE. Finally started him this week. I got Cotchery off of the wire, chose him over Reggie Williams, hope I made the right call. I hadn't seen either Colston or Berrian play, but I agree they seem like the real deal. cubbie5150 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I'm only in 2 leagues this year (one keeper, the other redraft).. In both, we use a blind bidding system--highest bidder, regardless of record, wins the FA (we start w/ a max season amount we can use for bidding/trades). Anyway, I missed the bid in both leagues on Colston after week 1... In my redraft league, Greg Jennings was actually drafted late, & was then dropped after week 1. He sat on the WW until after week 3 when I swooped in & made a hefty bid to secure him.. The OP is right: all 4, so far, look to be the real deal, which is strange as rookie WRs (well, meaning only Colston & Jennings here) are typically not much better as a group than rookie QBs... I'm hoping Jennings especially can do the unthinkable as a rookie WR: show some consistent production week to week...
c_Weezie 3 Posted October 2, 2006 I missed out on all of them. I ended up getting Braylon Edwards....hopefully he can be the next guy added to this list
NatronIsMean 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I grabbed Colston and Cotchery after week one, and thankfully so. My 12-teamer makes it certain that they would have been gone before me after week 2, when Berrian and Jennings went. I've already dumped Givens and Wilford for Cotch and Colston, thankfully. They'll fill in well behind Steve Smith and Holt.

This is the week I work a trade hopefully
duece2626 0 Posted October 2, 2006 Only one I don't have is Berrian. Bad part is deciding who to play each week between Boldin, Driver, Colston, Cotchery, Horn, Jennings, Reg.Brown.

Franknbeans 46 Posted October 2, 2006 Colston owner here and loving it
Nemyar 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I have jennings, colston, berrian... along with Holt and TO. Will be fun trying to decide who to play when.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted October 2, 2006 I missed out on Colston during the draft. Drafted Jennings with my last pick. Picked up Berrian after Week 1, but dropped him for Reggie Williams as I think that Berrian is going to have a harder time during the cold weather. I dropped Jennings during that same time as I just have too many WR's (Harrison, J. Walker, Coles, etc.). I tried to trade Berrian before dropping him, but got no takers. Neek 0 Posted October 2, 2006 anyone have some guesses on Jennings production tonight? need 60yds and a td. If you were me, I'd say 59 yds and a TD.
CookieG 4 Posted October 2, 2006 I ended up getting Braylon Edwards Frye looks okay.. if he stays healthy, Edwards will help you. I am a proud new Colston owner.. here's hoping the "Week 10 Rookie Wall" is just a myth. Of these nice pickups, Jennings is actaully still on the wire -- 95% chance he'll be gone after this week though. Funny, i couldn't watch the games this weekend (the horror) and i'm listening to the Jets game on the radio in the car, pis*ed that i didn't pick up Cotchery -- found out later about Colston's long haul. --------------------------------------- You gotta figure that di*khead Reggie Williams is gonna be a hot ww target this week -- glad that i'm cool at WR for right now. More on Colston: Rotoworld: Colston's big game comes courtesy of an 86-yard touchdown catch with the Saints down two scores late in the fourth quarter, but it counts just the same. He was targeted on a goal-line jump ball in the second quarter, but QB Drew Brees misfired. Source that shall remain nameless: WR Marques Colston had 6 pass targets, 1 in the red zone. Colston had catches of 10, 12, and 20 yards to go with his 86-yard TD.
Ritchings 0 Posted October 2, 2006 They were ALL on the WW after week 1 for obvioius reasons and let them go by thinking they were 1 week wonders.

parrot 789 Posted October 2, 2006 My WW WR gem was Reggie Williams. Unfortunately he was on my bench in favor of Fitz and D Jax.
JediMaster 20 Posted October 2, 2006 I grabbed Colston in both of my leagues BEFORE week 1. I heard that he was going to be the #2 guy beating out D. Henderson so I figured I'd take a chance on him. Looks like it's paying off. I also got Berrian after week 2 on the WW In my one league my WR's are: Wayne, Driver, Coles, Colston, Berrian and C. Henry
De Novo 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I nabbed Jennings and Colston in one league giving me a WR team of: Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers, Donte Stallworth, Jennings and Colston Yes, you want to be me, I know. Actually, I don't.
niner16 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I grabbed Grossman & Berrian week 2, held on to them and played them both this week. PAYDAY! I'll admit I almost grabbed Colston but thought he would be a one week wonder! I still can't believe someone got both. You lucky son of ***!
RedzoneMonster 107 Posted October 2, 2006 I’m in a 12 man league that only charges $2 per add/drop, and other owners mock me every year for raking up $50-$80 in fees, but at the same time I’ve made the SB 3 of 5 yrs. You have to spend $$ to make $$ is my philosophy. Case in point – this year I now have Colston, Cothery and Berrian on my team. I also had Jennings and R. Williams at one point, but dropped them for Colston and Cothery, so I don’t feel that bad. 3 top 10 WRs (as of wk 4 mind you) for $6?.. I’LL TAKE IT!
RoboAA 1 Posted October 2, 2006 I snagged Colston and Cotchery after week one, giving me a WR corp of S Smith, T Owens, D Stallworth, M Colston and J Cothery. All though my WR's rock my RB's are horrible. I'm currently working a trade of M Colston for T Jones. I personally think that Colston is more valuable but I'm desperate for a starting RB and I can only start 2 WR's anyways.
JT 137 Posted October 2, 2006 Went into draft night with a list of deep sleeper WR that I was going with instead of big names. No more high picks wasted on guys that barely out-produce the well researched unknowns. Top two names on the list? Berrian and Cotchery. Their in-season fantasy stuff is lacking, but The Sporting News gave both rave training camp/pre-season reviews. So what did I do? Fitzgerald and Wayne. Yeah, I felt like they were value picks, but nowhere near the value these other guys would have been in the last two rounds of my draft. Our waiver wire doesn't open til after our week 7 supplemental draft, so I gotta dance with the ones what brung me. Of course, now the whole world knows about those guys, so my chances of getting them at all (let alone stealing them) are gone like the snow geese. I'm real smart til that second draft night beer. The lesson? Trust your research. Of course, you could also say not to drink on draft night, but let's be reasonable.

It was nice seeing Berrian though taking the reverse on the trickeration. The man has some wheels.
1stand2nd 0 Posted October 2, 2006 I got Colston in 1 of my 2 leagues, but not in one that's on yahoo. By the time I realized he was listed as a TE there it was too late. He was gone! That really hurts since Wiggins is my TE. How about Furrey? Everybody picked him up yesterday and today, it seems.
