Bill Clinton asks people to pay $500K to celebrate HIS birfday

What a focking assmeg. Why would anyone pay that kind of cash just so he can throw himself a big birfday bash?

Americans snub invitation to pay $500,000 for Clinton birthday party

By SHARON CHURCHER, Mail on Sunday

When America's liberal elite were offered the chance to pay up to $500,000 each (about £260,000) to attend Bill Clinton's 60th birthday extravaganza tonight - with the added promise of a private Rolling Stones concert - a packed house was expected.

The minimum price, with inferior concert seats and no brunch, was set at $60,000 (£31,000). But with many rich Democrats sending their regrets, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that last Wednesday the Clintons drastically slashed prices to $12,500 (£6,500) for one reception and the concert, or $5,000 (£2,600) for just the Stones.

With the looming possibility of Bill and his long-suffering wife and daughter finding themselves amid a sea of empty chairs at the 2,900-seat Manhattan venue, tickets then went on sale to the public for as little as $1,710 (£900).

And there is a danger that the Clintons' plans may end in a total fiasco, after the Stones cancelled Friday's show in Atlantic City when Mick Jagger complained of a sore throat and was ordered to rest by a doctor.

The supergroup has flown to New York in preparation for today's concert but an insider said it was too soon to know whether Jagger will be fit enough to perform.

A friend of the Clintons said last night: "It is all highly embarrassing for Bill and Hillary. When they created the idea, they thought it would go like wildfire. What's not going to please some who did come up with $500,000 is finding regular Stones fans there who got last-minute tickets on the internet."

The important thing is they decided to reduce ticket prices so that the poor, who they most identify with, could attend.

A Mena, Arkansas Story

Penthouse article released just prior to 1996 Presidential election

By Sharon Churcher

The Republicans are pulling a last-minute "dirty trick" against Bill Clinton. At least that's the way it looks to a former drug smuggler called Billy Bob Bottoms, who says he was astonished when congressional leaders announced that they were investigating allegations that Clinton covered up an international cocaine ring. Bottoms, you see, worked as the ring's chief pilot. And he says that, at the time of the announcement, the G.O.P. already knew that the allegations were a "hoax." "They're desperate to find any scum they can to throw at Clinton," he told Penthouse in an exclusive interview.

Kinda like celebrating Slick's birfday..............no point.

Say what you will about Bill Clinton - his approval rating was about twice as high as Bush. Most Americans fondly remember the Clinton years. A huge majority of Americans feel like as a country we're on the wrong track and disapprove of the job Congress and Bush have done. Clinton's legacy will be that he presided over a pretty uneventful time in history and did a decent job, despite his personal shortcomings and a strong opposition party. Bush's legacy will be one enormous failure after another. He's probably the most universally reviled president in history.

Post all the smileys you want - in the pit of your soul you know it's all true and that's why you just can't get over it.

So as far as president is concerned, mediocrity = greatness?

No one went to his party. That only happens to fat chicks and losers. What kind of self consumed douche whistle sells tickets to his party for $500,000? Really in touch with Americans! :D

"Hmmm. . . buy a nice house in a nice suburb or go to a Clinton party?" It wasn't intended for blue collar workers you say? Why? Is Bill too good for the working man? Why would he want to exclude the working man from his birthday party? I thought the democratic party was the party for the working man.

Once again - the ONLY reason you tools are still talking about Bill Clinton six years after he left office is that he was a well-liked and generally a pretty good President, and the guy you helped get into office is a total failure and almost universally loathed.

Sucks for you!

What made him a good president? The fact that he did nothing and coasted through an uneventful period? All he did was lay low for 8 years (politically that is, he was laying low in other ways while on duty). If doing nothing = greatness, then I'd be King of the World.

The relevance is that Hillary is still very much in the political picture, last I checked. I'm wondrin, what did they plan to do with all of the money they raised?

What made him a good president?

We could go back and forth on that for days. The bottom line is the only reason GOP types like you still have your knickers in a knot about Clinton is that your guy in office has been a total failure and he's almost universally loathed by everyone.

Suck it! :first:

That's the problem, isn't it? Clinton cared more about approval ratings than he did running the country. President Bush doesn't care about approval ratings and in my opinion, he shouldn't.

itsatipthat UP TO means all tickets were not that high.

Also, you have to do a little research when RP cuts and pastes what he wants. It spins a little easier when he leaves out lines like this one:

with all proceeds to go to the former President's charitable foundation.

Oh, and people pay up to $5000 a plate to just sit in the same room as Bush and that money goes in the pockets of homophobes like Marilyn Musgrave. Fund raisers are never cheap, not meant for everyone, and if people want to pay money that helps charities, I don't know how any of you can get on here an honestly see harm in that.

I like how Bush fans try to play his deep, widespread unpopularity as a positive. "He's more concerned with getting the job done than popularity polls!" Except that his job performance has been the suck. And anytime he gets a bounce into the lofty 40s the same people who say polls don't matter post a link to the polls.

People fondly recall the Clinton years. People also count the days until Bush leaves office. :wall:

I would argue he isn't even the most hated and biggest failure in our lifetime. That is easily the one and only Jimmy Carter.

Bush sucks. But Clinton sucked too.

Keep making Clinton the scapegoat for the pieces of shiot we have in office. Blame Clinton for the piece of shiot Neo-Cons that have planned this war since the late 90s. Blame Clinton for N. Korea testing a nuclear weapon almost 7 years after he left office. In fact, blame Clinton for Abramhoff, Foley, Bob Ney, the Valerie Plame outing, etc.

I'm sure, then, that only dems are immoral. Shall we ignore Foley and Rush Limbaugh, two examples of immorality on the right just from the last couple weeks? Seems to me there was plenty of immorality before AND after Clinton.

During the early Clinton years, hard-liners and so-called conservative hawks advocated a pre-emptive strike to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons development before it could field an atomic bomb. Instead of taking the hard line, President Clinton elected to rely on former President Jimmy Carter and decided to appease the Marxist-Stalinist dictatorship.

Carter met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang and returned to America waving a piece of paper and declaring peace in our time. Kim, according to Carter, had agreed to stop his nuclear weapons development.

The Clinton appeasement program for North Korea included hundreds of millions of dollars in aid, food, oil and even a nuclear reactor. However, the agreement was flawed and lacked even the most informal means of verification.

In return, Kim elected to starve his people while using the American aid to build uranium bombs. The lowest estimate is that Kim starved to death over 1 million of his own people, even with the U.S. aid program

Clinton = 100,000 Ws

In his last year of office, President Clinton approved of an unusual scheme to transfer classified data that likely helped Iran advance its nuclear weapons program, according to New York Times reporter James Risen in his new book "State of War."

Risen says the CIA used a double-agent Russian scientist to hand over a blueprint for a nuclear bomb to Iran.

The White House plan actually was to derail the Iranian program by passing on fatal flaws, says Risen, but the deliberate errors were so rudimentary they would have been easily fixed by Russian nuclear scientists, reported the online Post Chronicle, which said the story was recounted last night by radio host and former Justice official Mark Levin.

Risen's book has been in the news for its revelations about the Bush administration's controversial NSA domestic anti-terror surveillance operation.

The Clinton operation, in early 2000, was code named Operation Merlin and "may have been one of the most reckless operations in the modern history of the CIA," Risen writes.

A defector from Russia was to offer Tehran the blueprint for a "firing set," the sophisticated mechanism that triggers a nuclear explosion.

CIA officers told the Russian the Iranians already had that technology and the scheme was to find out the full extent of Tehran's nuclear capability.

But the Russian inserted a note in the package indicating he could help fix the flaws if he were paid the right price.
