bigtuna 0 Posted April 29, 2007 No doubt about it. They have sick talent on both sides of the ball and hideous speed at WR and TE. Brady won 3 SB titles with pedestrian talent at WR, now he has 2 guys who run a sub 4.30 time in the forty. Maybe the two fastest guys in the league. a total steal and Moss will be paid half as much as the top picks in this years draft. look for Junior Seau to sign in the month or two as the backup to Bruschi/Vrabel inside...that should complete the roster. 16-0 !!! triple_f 0 Posted April 29, 2007 This is something I cannot debate. I thought NE had done some great things prior to the draft, but now they have solidified their roster. From A. Thomas, Stallworth, Welker, et al...now this weekend...they have to be the favorites looking at the season. As well, they got themselves a 1st rounder next year... IGotWorms 4,058 Posted April 29, 2007 Lets not get carried away. They've got a tough schedule, their offense will need time to gel (Brady's top three targets will be new to the team), and a couple injuries at DB or LB would seriously weaken the defense. But its hard not to get excited.
mobb_deep 920 Posted April 29, 2007 yah the pats are going to be pretty hard to beat. I don't see either Stallworth or Moss being top 5 fantasy WR's in 2007 but Brady will be money. I wouldn't be surprised if Brady finishes with better fantasy numbers than both Manning and Palmer. That being said I think I'm going to stay away from both Stallworth and Moss this year. They'll both get drafted pretty high up and have bust written all over them imo.

But its hard not to get excited. They have a tough schedule? How do you think the other teams are going to feel looking at the Pats on their schedule? Chalk it up as a loss! The toughest game they have is in INDY...and the Pats will have far superior speed on offense this time on the carpet. They will have added since that game in January: Randy Moss Wes Welker Donte Stallworth Rodney harrison Eugene Wilson Randall Gay Brandon Meriwether ADALUIS THOMAS Think those guys are going to make a difference????? The Shredder 0 Posted April 29, 2007 Geez, this isn't fair for all other teams in the league. Rich is getting richer. Here where you have a team that are loaded at defense and offense with a potentially top 5 at both sides plus, they build well in the draft without sacrifice the future drafts. Bill Belichick is truly a mastermind. I can see NE Patriots go all the way undefeated.

GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted April 29, 2007 Best team on paper by far, but they don't play on paper. Stallworth and Moss have great speed, but neither is ever gonna be confused with the term great route runner. In addition, both have had the injury bug over the past few years. They're one Tom Brady season ending injury away from being an also-ran. Yes, though, right now they're the clear cut favorite.

phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2007 Pfft. That's nothing, slapnuts. Seattle will go 18-0, win 5 playoff games, and win 2 Superbowls this year.
DBZFan2K 0 Posted April 29, 2007 The Patriots are the best team on paper right now and could conceivably go undefeated, health permitting. But isn't that usually the big issue with the Pats? How the secondary holds up will be the biggest factor, even more so than the performance of the receivers. I am very, very, VERY excited for the season though, even moreso than when the Pats acquired Dillon a few years ago.
ROCKET 0 Posted April 29, 2007 Somehow I enjoyed last year's preseason a lot more when all we heard is how the Pats would take a step back after losing all their key players and coaches. I don't like being the favs again.

That's like saying, "One severed vital organ away from being killed." nobody 2,673 Posted April 30, 2007 brady tears his ACL before game 2...the season will be lost. I have a feeling you could plug alot of qbs in the offense and they would be fine. 16-0 babay!!!!!!!!!!!
BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted April 30, 2007 I agree. 16-0 best team on paper and best team on Sundays. I've said before on this forum that the Brady era would include 8 SuperBowl wins. But after letting one slip away last year I thought Brady might get 7 rings max. Add Randy into the mix and the fact that we have a never ending surplus of draft picks and I can see 3 SuperBowls in the next 4 years from here followed by one last Elway style run in the last 2 years of Brady's career. Do the math, that's 8. I am the biggest Moss basher on this board and even a year ago I didn't like the idea of getting Randy. But for a 4th round pick it's no risk and here's what I really like about the move. Money talks bullshit walks. Mr Moss gave up $6million to play for the Patriots. He renegotiated his contract down 6 MILLION! In my eyes that buys Randy a few "give the dude a chance" points.
football_scooter 0 Posted April 30, 2007 For those Pats homers not paying attention the last few years, Moss sucks. That's Randy Moss, the "Randy Ratio" - terrible attitude, won't go over the middle, takes plays off, lacks conditioning and gets hurt like grapes bruise. Moss has always been better on turf and indoors, so NE in the winter will be entertaining. Especially with a spread offense - boy will Moss be cheery when the tight end goes 7 for 120 and 2 TDs while Moss has 3 for 28 yards. He may even unfurl the 'fro. 700/7 at best. Probably hurt by November 5th. I predicted this sort of homerific gaga would happen back when the 1st rumors of Moss to the Pats circulated. Many Pats fans here HATED the thought of getting Moss. Where are they now? Bold prediction: the Pats fan's love affair with Moss is short lived.

God forbid anything happened to Brady...but if it did, you could probably put Matt Cassel in there (who's not a bad QB in his own right) and the Pats would go something like 12-4 with him just because of the weapons available. Let's not forget this defense is a lot better because of the additions of Adalius Thomas and Brandon Meriweather.

IMO this is a giant step back for the Pats run at another superbowl. Moss doesn't put any team over the top any more ...."past his prime" is a phrase that applies perfectly. BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Scooter I agree I have been against him 100%. However it really tells me something when a guy is willing to take a 6 million dollar pay cut. Furthermore Brady, Harrison, Coach B, Kraft, Pioli the whole organization was in line with this. I trust those guys. My biggest issue with Randy was always that he takes plays off. If he doesn't take plays off I'm on his side. If he does he'll get shipped out. By the way here is Randy in his own words. “I’ve always considered myself the second best receiver to come out of Marshall. Being able to play with a Troy Brown, and what he’s done for the organization – and I know Troy is not an individual, and I know they don’t live off individuals – but you see what he’s done in the past and his Super Bowl experience, his punt return against the Pittsburgh Steelers. There are things I love in the game that you have to pay attention to. Troy being from Marshall, me being from Marshall, like I’ve always said, he started the trend of guys going into the league from Marshall and I just wanted to continue that but at the same time just enjoy myself and have fun.”

Even if he's a model citizen I don't think it'll be worth it. There's a good reason that no one wanted to pay anything more than a 4th round pick for him. As for him taking the pay cut, you asked what it tells me? It tells me that his skills have diminished significantly enough that even Moss knows he's not worth anywhere near $9mm.
