Chuck_Dizzle 0 Posted April 30, 2007 So Jackson is gone, which places Deon Branch firmly at number 1 but who takes the #2, Hacket, Burleson, Engram or Obomanu? I'm going to miss DJak (oops wait sorry) DJax, but can't cry about that now. Branch is a solid WR who was still learning the system last year, but now with a season under his belt and the #1 spot he's going to have a great year. I think it'll go Branch, Burleson, Hacket, Engram, Obomanu. Engram is to inconsistent to be the #2.
djrockstar 0 Posted April 30, 2007 I don't think Engram is inconsistent. Didn't he get the most catches on the team last year? He's a possession reciever who gets lots of catches on short slants across the middle. But whether it's Jurevicious or Burleson or Hackett, Hasselback just seems to look elsewhere in the endzone. Engram is also pretty old I think. 34? Despite Burleson not doing much last year, my gut tells me he'll be the #2 and Bobby will continue to play slot and maybe come in on short 3rd downs. I just can't get that image of Bobby dropping that ball in the endzone in the playoffs against the Rams two years ago when the Hawks could have won it at the end of the game. Always feels like Hasselback has the same image seared into his head cuz he just doesn't look for him in the red zone. Maybe he's not physical enough, I dunno. My $.02. Here's to you DJax, it was fun ....
nobody 2,671 Posted April 30, 2007 I'm pretty sure it won't be Jurevicius. I say Hackett and they keep Engram in the slot. Sure Burleson had a contract worth 49 million but alot of that was poison pill incentives to keep the Vikings from matching the offer sheet.

Groundhog 24 Posted April 30, 2007 Engram is to inconsistent to be the #2. Um, what? Engram has the best hands on the team. His main problem is that he's 34 years old. Yes he had one important drop (the game-tying TD at the end of the Rams playoff game a few years ago) but he's an incredible 3rd down safety valve. Branch will be #1 but Hackett will be #2. Burleson has shown that he's most valuable in the return game and Obamanu isn't ready for the kind of responsibility that goes with being a #2 WR.

I think the value at WR is Hacket, he will be drafted much later than Branch but their numbers will be close.
djrockstar 0 Posted April 30, 2007 I'm pretty sure it won't be Jurevicius. Yes, I understand JJ is not on the hawks anymore. I've been a Seahawks fan my whole life so his departure last year was not lost on me. I was trying to illustrate that even though Engram gets a lot of looks in short yardage situations there's always been another reciever who vultures TD's. Gepetto 1,368 Posted April 30, 2007 It's been confirmed that D.J. Hackett will start. Deion Branch will move to Darrell Jackson's position. per fflivewire
Chuck_Dizzle 0 Posted May 1, 2007 It's been confirmed that D.J. Hackett will start. Deion Branch will move to Darrell Jackson's position. per fflivewire Sounds good to me, I just hope that the receiving core will start holding on to the ball and stop dropping those easy passes. Hopefully Branch can show these guys how to do it.
Jokers 0 Posted May 1, 2007 2006: Branch 53/725/4 Hackett 45/610/4 Throw out the first four games (week 5 bye) as Hackett really didn't play while they suffered through Burlesons weak efforts as the #3. Branch totaled 5/80/1 weeks 3 and 4. Hackett had practically the same stats as Branch weeks 6-14 playing as the #3, and outperformed Branch 2 out of the last three weeks when DJax was out. Hackett will be a much better value pick this year, and will most likely outperform Branch.
What is the deal? 1 Posted May 1, 2007 It's been confirmed that D.J. Hackett will start. Deion Branch will move to Darrell Jackson's position. per fflivewire where did they quote that? Not seeing it...the article posted on that site says that Burleson still have an outside shot...but Branch/Hackett are the favorites. It also mentions that the reason for Nate's struggles were a hand injury
dats007 1 Posted May 1, 2007 Maybe they should do what they didn't do last year: Sign Keyshawn Johnson! How great would that have been if we didn't have to waste a first round pick on Branch (who I like, but seeing how the market for WR's has changed in the past year where DJax and Randy Moss (both better than Branch in my eyes) are now only worth 4th Round picks)? So go get'm.
Little Big Head 6 Posted May 1, 2007 DJ Hackett might be wr2 in Seattle but I think he will be the best fantasy option. I see him being hasselbecks favorite RZ target

It also mentions that the reason for Nate's struggles were a hand injury http://www.fflivewire.com/Article.asp?ID=4302007igb4353gb Seahawks WR Hackett moves into starting lineup Written by: CLARE FARNSWORTH ¦ 4/30/2007 Source: seattlepi.nwsource.com KIRKLAND -- Darrell Jackson's trade to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday caught the Seahawks' leading receiver by surprise, but not for the reason you might imagine. As it turns out, Jackson was expecting to be traded last year. "Really, I didn't even think I was going to be in a Seattle Seahawks uniform last season," Jackson said during a telephone conversation, just before catching a return flight from the Bay Area to his home in Tampa, Fla. "I figured I was going to get traded last year, before training camp started," he added. The departure of this top-line player -- for a fourth-round pick in Sunday's NFL draft -- comes with a bottom line. "I'm not one of Tim Ruskell's guys," Jackson said, referring to the Seahawks' third-year president and general manager. "It's that simple." Actually it's not, but the trade of Jackson does prompt more questions than it provides: # If not Jackson, who? Deion Branch will move into the flanker spot that Jackson filled, with D.J. Hackett the likely starter at the split end position Branch played last season. It was the trade for Branch in September -- a deal that cost the Seahawks their first-round pick in the weekend draft, not to mention Branch's six-year, $39 million contract -- that was just another indicator for Jackson that his days with the team were numbered. "When they got Deion, after they'd already added Nate Burleson (in free agency), that's when I knew I was really expendable," Jackson said. Jackson's departure means each of the other receivers will need to step up to help generate the productivity that leaves with him -- an average of 63 receptions and seven touchdown catches in seven seasons since he was selected in the third round in 2000. "D.J. took great strides last year as a role player, and did some fine things," coach Mike Holmgren said of Hackett, who had 45 receptions last season. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/football/313643_jackson30.html I guess it just says LIKELY, not 100% certain. Good link, thanks. Hackett as the #2 makes sense. Engram has been primarily in the #3 (slot) role for a long time. Burleson will have to really step up when he gets opportunities if he wants to get past #4.
What is the deal? 1 Posted May 2, 2007 I guess it just says LIKELY, not 100% certain. ahh, I thought you were referring to the link that was posted in the thread over there... Nate Burleson can't be written off, but he'll have to win the job this year. The Seahawks put him in the starting lineup last season and kept him there for a while. http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/seahawks/?...p;tb=1&pb=1 there is some great insight in that link inlcuding a spreadsheet of where they lined up last year
