Sparkling Wiggles 0 Posted July 8, 2007 How much fuel was used in flying all those private jets over? how much energy wasted? how much garbage? What is your point, here? That rock stars flew in private jets and it took fuel for them to get to the show? That people created garbage that they would have created during their daily lives, anyway? Is this really what the right wing stance about the environment is? Are you that much against eco-friendliness that you're going to bring up asinine nonsense that really has nothing to do with the topic at hand? All these people are trying to say is that we should take care of our environment. Do you want to trash the world for anyone and everyone that inhabits this planet after you're gone? Is that your message? I mean, seriously. That's how you're coming off.

Sparkling Wiggles 0 Posted July 8, 2007 conservatives have no heart I don't think that at all. But it seems that there are some people that get defensive any time you say the word environment. Look at the definition of conservative. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/conservative 1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change. Shouldn't protecting the environment be a fundemental belief of true conservatives?

Look at the definition of conservative. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/conservative Shouldn't protecting the environment be a fundemental belief of true conservatives? I am more of an independent / libertarian (social lib/fiscal con) so I can not speak for true conservatives. I think the far left has hijacked the issue. When they talk environmentalism, they use the time to trash conservatives and advance the rest of their agenda. That puts cons on the defensive. Libs preach conservation as the solution to our energy problems but conservation, wind and solar will not even get us close to where we need to be. We need to exploit our own oil reserves and follow the lead of nations like France and embrace nuclear power. So while you might point out that conservatives do not conserve, you can add that progressives are against true progress.

pimptastic69 0 Posted July 8, 2007 What the hell is the point of all this? Seems like an Al Gore love-fest to me. Who isn't aware of GW and environmentalism? Anyone that can actually watch it already knows this crap. Why don't these focks instead fly their planes to Africa and tell the Africans that having sex with virgins does not, in fact, make said virgin immune to the aids. So while you might point out that conservatives do not conserve, you can add that progressives are against true progress. Partially agree with your first points. But it just seems to me any time you mention anything environmental, the guys here that take the right on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE start talking nonsense. Like, "How much jet fuel was used getting the bands there?" I saw the same crap on Fox and Friends this morning. Maybe libs hijack the issue because the cons let them. I know there is a big movement in churches to start making the environment a priority. http://www.goarch.org/en/ourfaith/articles/article8024.asp http://www.episcopal-life.org/26769_62397_ENG_HTM.htm I consider myself social lib/fiscal con as you do, but I certainly applaud the churches for getting in on the act. Libs don't have to own the issue. It can be something everyone cares about (like taxes, terrorism, etc.). It just sickens me to see people any time the environment is mentioned. Like it's their goal to trash the world or something. As far as your second point goes, I agree we need to embrace nuclear power, but it's not the only answer. I just saw Who Killed the Electric Car? last weekend. It was an eye-opener, for sure. We need to find alternatives for energy. Our government is failing us in that aspect. There's no question about it.

Summerfest, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and a whole lot of these mega-concerts happen each and every year, stop hating.....at least this concert has a purpose Those concerts are about entertainment, nothing more, nothing less, and they don't pretend to be about anything else. This concert was about educating and conservation-unless you're some ego bloated celebritiy who requires private jets, limos, and who knows what other kinds of amnities. Recliner Pilot 61 Posted July 8, 2007 Like it's their goal to trash the world or something. Shhhhhhh!!! Despite these celebutards having a carbon footprint 10-20 times larger than the avg human, they get together one day every 10-12 years or so to preach to the rest of us how we should live. Gotta give them credit for that.

phillybear 366 Posted July 9, 2007 Celebrities are for the most part vain, pompous, self aggrandizing, festering zit sucking leeches on the buttocks of life. Their opinions stink. All of them. Just do whatever you do that makes you famous and shut the fock up, stupid. That's one of the reasons Team America: World Police was a very good movie. Every focking celebrity dies. And that's not to say that only liberal butt munching celebrities are evil. But the conservative celebrities by comparison have a good taste to keep a low profile, thankfully. So I despise them much less. I channel surfed a bit. The music pretty much sucked whenever I tuned in.
