Jesse Chatman

Recommended Posts

I just got him off the WW. Will he be the feature back now? Will they run the offense through him like they did Ronnie Brown, or not so much? I think the fact that they still have Cleo Lemon as QB means they're still going to be doing a lot of running, no?

IIRC, wasn't there a RB controversy at the beginning of the year b/t Ronnie Brown and Chatman?

Chatman is a favorite of Cameron. He was looking to push Brown and Brown started to light it up once they gave him the rock. Chatman could be a decent fill-in, but he is not as versatile as Brown (was). Good for a guy off the WW, but I can't imagine anyone in that offense is going to be looking good this year. That team is headed to 0-16.

Randy Moss

No serioulsy though if I get Jesse on the waiver wire the Ronnie Brown ownder said he would trade me Randy for

Already picked up Chatman. He'll be my #3 RB behind Westbrook and Edge. It'll be a blow not having Brown now but we'll see. I think Chatman will be a low-end #2 high-end #3 back. He did have 7 rushes for 73 yards and a TD against a tough NE D.

Don't get me wrong, I think Chapman is a great WW pick up (duh). But with Cleo now the starting QB (Trent Green out 4 the year), and the Dolphins with nothing to play for (except next year's #1 overall draft choice), won't teams just stack the box against MIA? I mean, the Dolphins rushing attack could literally be M-I-A.

I don't think teams are going to see Miami and think "we've got to make sure Fatman doesn't go off on us" either.

I think we will see a case of teams probably just blitzing the hell out of them and not really keying in on either run or pass.

It amazes me that $$ leagues don't have a waiver wire serioulsy

JOKE

When I read those types of posts I just assumed these guys were in free yahoo leagues. That is the only place that I have encountered a league without a waiver wire.

Yeah it's yahoo but it's NOT free. It's actually a big money league. Any player undrafted can be pcked up whenever. FA that were on teams and have been dropped takes 3 days to become available. I don't like the rule personally but I'm not the Commish so I can't set the rules.

Yeah I did. Big deal...I'm not the Commish so I didn't set the rules to our money league. HTH

i dont see what the big deal is.......money league, group of friends, why not play in a first come first serve league? It's actually pretty fun........makes one stick around on sundays to see who to pick up and be the first to get him, and then laugh at the others who were trying to have a normal life on sundays.

I've played in a first come first served league for 3 years. I wouldn't have it any other way. If you have a gut feeling about a guy in the middle of the night while watching Leno, you can just go to waivers and pick him up. If it pans out, your a genuis, if it doesn't, who cares.

Or, like me, the absolute second that Ronnie Brown limped of the field, you rush to the waivers to drop Chris Brown and pick up Chatman. At the time I picked him up, I didn't know how bad the injury was, but I was willing to take the risk.

I don't know if Chatman will be as good as Ronnie Brown, but he is definetly an improvement over the other Brown I had :shocking:

I thought Miami had a much improved O-line this year that help with Browns success. Chatman should do well as long the O-line keeps it up.

Honestly in PPR - As long as Chatman remains healthy I think he will get close to RB's production. He is a solid reciever for a RB and a decent runner -- I could see Chatman getting 75yds ru with 5-8 rec and another 50 yds rec - throw in a TD every other game. IF Cam makes Chatman his Feature back -- that is whats up in the air -- Cam Might choose to work in all his RB's - who knows.

Even better is when you're watching all the games at the sports bar, see a top player go down...and pick up his handcuff using your Treo. I've got several solid pickups this year that way.

Shouldn't I be rewarded for actually paying attention to all the games on game day, and making decisions and reacting before everyone else? How about my investment in technology, or my willingness to spend my Sundays watching all the games? Or are the "serious" leagues the ones where the "serious" owners read the waiver wire columns on Tuesdays and put in their claims by paying attention only once a week?

It comes down to who/what do you want to reward?

i like chatman's versatility too; but why is it everytime a decent PPR prospect comes up, people estimate 5-8 rec per game? you realize that comes out to 80 to 128 receptions over the course of a full season...................geesh.

I also prefer free agent free-for-all money leagues for the same reason already mentioned. It is a rush when you get to pick-up a Chatman x 3 leagues because you are paying attention and the others were not! Also, we do not impose a transaction fee, but have a limit on the # of transactions per season, which makes you think twice before you speculate and waste a transaction on a pure flier.

But the topic was about Chatman. He was undrafted out of a small school (Eastern Washington State) where he had about 4200 yards and 53 TDs in his college career. Signed by SD in 2002, he made the team and played mainly special teams and returned kick-off. He was behind LT and Turner on the depth chart. At SD, he played for Cam Cameron who was SD's offensive coordinator.

At 5'8" and 215-222 he is a little dynamo, built like MJD and has good vision, speed and explosiveness. But he went on a see-food diet and ate himself out of the league by 2006, topping off at about 270#.

He got himself back in shape and Miami sent him to NFL Europa in February 2002. He has re-ignited his career and everything is going his way as long as he controls his weight.

Ronnie Brown's misfortune may be Chatman's big payday, because he is an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT at the end of the year, so he has a huge incentive to do well, and the talent is there. He recently turned 28, but he obviously doesn't have many 'miles' on his legs for his age.

what was Ronnie brown getting ? You really think with that O line Lemon will have enough time to find WR's ? I expect MANY dump offs.

Those guys will probably lose. Those guys should probably lower their expectations of winning a FF Championship while managing a team on a part-time basis. Fantasy Football waits for no man.

Really? What about those of us who spend our Sundays at the games tailgating or, in the case of away games, at our friends house partying it up during the game. I am amazed at the shut-ins who are attached to their laptops because of a free-for-all waiver system.

That's cause you lost this thread and I won it, it was rather easy and there is no comparison to you nerds saying that it is fair to just go pick up guys whenever you want.
