Around 50 women each year in the UK notch up their seventh abortion

Recommended Posts

Why does this have to get all religious?

While I agree that women have the the right to abortion (sorry, Bible Thumpers), I think that women who abuse that right by failing to take proper precautions are only giving credibility to the folks that want to limit those rights. Abortion is not something that should be used as a substitute for birth control. I can understand a mistake or even a couple. When we start getting to 5, I have to question whether this is just too convenient and not thought through enough by those women.

With that said, I am not sure of the statistics cited by gocolts as his sources are usually "suspect".

Think of it this way: would you want a woman/couple who/that has already demonstrated enough lack of judgment to need 5 abortions to actually raise a kid they don't want? Can you imagine that kid's life? Short of mandating that the woman get her tubes tied, I'm not sure what you can do.

Who created human females so that their bodies would abort so many conceptions naturally?

Sin. Not God.

Point 1: You have Savage Beast to thank.

Point 2: I disagree that a woman has the right to an abortion. Hence, I agree that it shouldn't be a substitute for birth control. Once you get to seven, is it really an "oops"?

Point 3: Neal Boortz had this link this morning. I believe his are usually reputable.

If I created a bullet for a gun to shoot at tin cans, and somebody murdered a man with that bullet instead, am I responsible for the murderer's actions?

Let's try this again...

If I created a bullet for a gun to shoot at the homeless, and somebody murdered a tin can with that bullet instead, am I responsible for the anti-recycling actions?

Hell yes. You let a focking bum live, you careless assh0le. :dunno:

I have succumbed to the ramblings of Giants Fan. I have surrendered to the malevolence of Swerski. I have endured the tall tales of Big Pete. I have learned to tolerate the Strike's and Sho Nuff's of this bored. However I do no think I can take much more of this Savage Beast character. He may be the last straw that drives me away. God help us all.

It says he's been around for three years. As a relative newbie, has it been this bad before?

Before mankind sinned, there was no death, that's how I know.

Do you want me to start pulling counterarguments to your point from theologians? In theology, this point is nowhere near as clear cut as you make it to be.

My take on abortion: The world is coming closer to being over-crowded as it is. There will be wars over fresh water in our children's lifetime. There is to much trash and not enough natural resources. Screw it! Let them abort. While you are at it, limit families to 3 childeren. After that you are fined big money.

Well, I don't understand how you get to #5 in the first place. Once you get to those numbers, it becomes a moral discussion. Legally, I think that women have the right to abortion. The fallout is that some women (pick a percentage) are using it multiple times when it should not come to that. It just gives the folks who think that it should be outlawed altogether a (valid) excuse.

I don't understand it either...drugs, lack of judgment. My point is that you often get the feeling that those who totally defend the rights of the foetus don't give a horse's ass about the foetus' future - or lack thereof - after it is born. And yes I know that every foetus has the potential to be the next Einstein but each foetus also has the potential to be the next drug addict.

That also happens with those that are planned. I can understand what those who are against abortion are saying. It can be a reasonable position. I disagree with it, but some of the arguments are reasonable.

I agree. It's like they say: you need a license to become a dog owner but not to become a parent. Some parents should prolly never have kids.

My feeling is this: sure, the kid's life may suck. It may not. Who knows? Perhaps we can make good guess that his life will suck. But I don't think that's our call to make. The way I see it, no one (even a mother) has the right to decide that someone else's life isn't worth living.

So the entire field of medicine is run by evil liberal bastards? Would you go and see the evil liberal bastards if you had operable cancer?

If you are a Christian Scientist, then you would not.

One of their beliefs is that modern medicine is akin to benching Stephen Davis.

Oh, the stories I could tell about fundamental Christian Scientists.

And I can totally respect that. I would like to see better adoption services however so that the kids that are "saved" have a better shot at life if they are born into totally non-functional families.

I worked next to a Christian scientist who was in a biotech lab while doing my Masters. We had some rather interesting discussions about evolution...

I definitely agree on that count. I think our laws on abortion are just one among many things (just in that arena) that should be improved. That issue gets the most press, but other things--like improving adoption--are also extremely important.

Yea...They are pretty intelligent, but so misguided IMO.

Either way, the Christian Science Monitor is not too bad a thing to read on occasion.

Well, at least it blows away the Watchtower

And yet, surprisingly, God designed the female body to naturally abort over 50% of the conceptions it bears. Odd.

Where is this statistic found?

God bless abortion! Without it, I'd be chasing around 2 unappreciative little brats, like so many of you geeks. Although you would think after the 3rd (or even 4th one) it would be a good idea to go ahead and get a hysterectomy.

Google. I have seen that figure many times. I have recently seen figures that are actually much higher than that. Closer to 70%.

To be fair to Bible thumpers, I think that's a fairly minority Christian belief. And one I don't understand at all.

Women are abortive by their very design. Maybe they should be outlawed or be made to wear a warning from the Surgeon General.

There are no scriptures in the Bible that say it's wrong to prevent conception with birth control.

But there are scriptures in the Bible where it talks about harming a fetus being punishable by death, Exodus 21:22-23 to be exact.

The Hebrew word for with child in Exodus 21:22 is "hareh" which means pregnant.

So if you harm a baby in it's mother's womb, God commands a life for a life.
