Question for McCain Supporters...

Recommended Posts

Because it was being announced in Dayton, I was convinced it was going to be Rob Portman. It would have been cool because he's a local guy, but he looks and talks like a pansy. The Palin pick gives a little life to McCain's campaign. The Nutter Center was packed, and I don't think that would have been the case with anyone else.

I thought for sure Romney, but I like the Palin pick because it diffuses so many of the potential Obama criticism's of her.

I thought it was going to be Lieberman, Mitt, or Pawlenty. Palin definitely re-energizes McCain's campaign and it might be a good choice because of that but she's not as strong as the others which might hurt McCain in the long run. I can see Romney, Lieberman, etc. stepping in as POTUS if something happened to McCain but I don't have that confidence with Palin.

I think this was a rather lame attempt to pander to women voters, particullarly the Hillary nuts, and I just don't see it working. You can't change everything about a candidate except for the fact that both have a vajina and expect people to jump on board.

I see this story boosting McCain for a news cycle or two, and then ultimately sinking the campaign, as she really brings little to the table. It would be different if she were from a neutral state that she could deliver, but she's not.

Agreed. I think the biggest problem they'll have is that she still supports the same policies McCain and Bush do. She is not much different then McCain except for the fact that she's a woman.

The emails coming in from women on cnn don't seem to be going their way. Apparantly, VP Barbie has actually made a pitch to the Clintonista's. The response seems to be that they find the notion that they would vote for McCain just because he picked a women "insulting".

I'tll be interesting to see if the gambit works. It's kind of an all or nothing play.

I am not sure that the Hilldog has a confirmed sniz. She could be packing a hizzog in her pants.

Good Post. The choice / timing did one thing - mute the talk about BO's speech last night. Any candidate would have done that - it's all about the timing. Sure, she makes RW nuts feel better, but they weren't going to vote for BO anyway. I guess delivering the huge electoral vote that comes with Alaska might help - but it doesn't sound like she's uber popular up there either. Politically, probably would have been better to go with someone else. Functionally, when you're 92 years old, it'd be nice to put someone on the ticket that eases voters concerns about you - ya know - dying in office. She sure doesn't do that.

And I agree, I can't see anybody who was previously going to vote for BO saying "oh she's a woman! oh THAT's different!"

I think folks would have said McCain was pandering no matter who he picked. We all know who has done the most pandering this election cycle.

As opposed to those women who unexplicably hate Obama and those blacks who unexplicably hate Hillary even though they're at least very similar in most, if not all, of their policies? Yeah, people would never vote for someone based on something as trivial as race or gender.

I agree with you as well. I think this pick has killed his campaign. In my opinion he has ZERO chance of winning pres. For one, this lady used to be a small town mayor just a few years ago. She has zero experience in anything related to this majority of this country (i.e. the lower 48 states). I am not sexist, but if old man Mccain (i think he is in his upper 70's) croaks, then we have a no experience woman running this country. If that doesnt scare you i dont know what will. Think of this lady having to make decisions on going to war, foriegn policy, etc. The rest of the world will not take America seriously if she somehow becomes president.

You're giving the dames too much credit. Broads are pretty dumb, like a parakeet staring into a mirror.

1. Apparently you are, although if any Republicans had said that about Hillary, we definitely would be sexist, no questions asked.

2. If that doesn't scare me, a liberal male with even less experience sure as hell does.

3. How do you figure you aren't sexist? What if I felt that way about Hillary for being a woman or Obama for being a mutt?

Wonder if it's at all possible that other potential V.P. candidates turned down McCain cause they don't believe he's got a snowballs chance and don't want to be associated with his candidacy as it might derail their own future runs.

Cool. This means you won't need to waste any more of your valuable time posting in political threads and you can devote 100% of your timie to figuring out how Bush pulled off 9/11.

I'm pretty sure the mayor of Sheboygan Falls, Wis. turned McCain down as he scoured the "Mayor of towns -- population 8,500" list.... before settling on Palin.

I think it would take a rather substantial Obama fock up to lose it at this point. McCain has "then next Bob Dole" written all over him.

Maybe they can do a joint Viagra ad in a couple years.

I just don't see it. I predict a record turnout of racists. I'm not taking any joy in that. Just telling it like it is.

It's all part of the conspiracy.

Gerald Ford, played by GWB

Jimmy Carter, played by Obama

"Reagan: The Sequel" rides in to save the day in 2012.

Maybe so. He did carry some pretty deep redneck states in the primaries (S.C., GA, LA, MS, AL). (Hey, I'm from TN, I can call southern states redneck if I want).

Now I wouldn't be at all surprised to see some redneck take a shot at him before its all said and done. It will be an interesting race. I'm ready for it to be over already. Anybody but Bush is an improvement (even though McCain has the same policies, I will give him credit for being a better man and less of a cretin than Bush.)

How many times has Biden run for President only to be told by Demwit voters thanks, but no thanks? We don't believe you are Presidential material.

Wow how original - im surprised you didnt respond with some republican (not conservative) bullcrap you usually do. Also i never said bush pulled off 9/11 - George bush is an idiot and you are an idiot if you really think he controls this country.
