MedStudent 56 Posted March 30, 2009 This is like deja vu all over gain. Can't women go to weddings alone? So, one of my roommates who I have become good platonic friends with, asked me to do a favor for her. She asked if I would go to a wedding with her in 4 weeks. I really do not want to go to this and did not give her an answer. Instead, I told her I wasn’t sure if I had a Saturday preceptor visit that week (we have them around once a month) but I’d check later at school. I know that I do not have a preceptor visit that week and I could have checked the schedule online but I just needed an excuse not to answer yet. On one hand, I am a very loyal friend who would do most anything a friend asked but this is a lot to ask. She is Bengali-American and this will be a typical Bengali style wedding. They are also Muslim which means they won’t be serving alcohol. I don’t think she has a good relationship with her parents so it could be tense. She has had a white boyfriend before so that helps a bit and she will make it clear that I am only a friend. I think she wants me there more for support than for a fake boyfriend. I think she thinks she won’t get grief from her parents if I am around her. She is 28 and in their culture she is an old maid. I am very torn on this one. I don’t want to do it but as a friend I feel kind of obligated. Although we have only been friends about a month, I see her everyday and we talk everyday so it seems like we have known one another for longer. What are some good excuses I could use to get out of this? And I will not get or attempt to get sexx with this woman. I have already decided that I do not want to add that type of drama to my life. she is attractive in an exotic way. I’d estimate them at 34 C. She should probably already know that she is putting you in a tough spot. Unless she is going to blow you on the ride to the wedding and sneak nips of booze into the reception, seems like you have to go with the direct approach of blowing it off rather than coming up with an elaborate excuse. MedStudent 56 Posted March 30, 2009 I just had a brainstorm after posting this. I'll try and hook her up with some guys I know. Only problem is that she is 4 or 5 years older then most of my friends and she may be attractive to everyone. If you are into someone who looks a bit different and exotic she is for you but if you like the blond barbie types she is not. Posting on here always opens up my brain to new possibilities. Problem solved. Oh, btw, I'm sure that whatever poor sap you set up to go to the "Boozeless Muslim Wedding" Where he will be subjected to many "are you gonna marry our daughter" jabs will hate you for life. Obviously you are focusing on school as you should as that is most important. However, other than that the only thing you should be worrying about is picking up and laying down every broad you meet. They are not your friends, they are the target. Your mission is to fock everything that walks. Sew your wild oats young man. There will be a day, prolly about 10 years from now, that you will be settled down. You do not want any regrets, and you want to get all of that out of your system before you are married. This will keep you from being miserable and/or cheat on your wife. Treat the next several years as if you were fishing. Tag and release. Put this little girlfriend out of your mind.
