4 things here I like about Shockey.

 

1. The Saints offense. 4,500 to 5,000 yards worth of passing yards, and 30 t0 34 Td's

2. He's healthier than Colston, Moore, or Bush at this momment.

3. He's in camp saying the right things.

4. and did I mention the offense he is involved with? He had 50 + catches last season and was injured most of the time.

 

I like him as my #2 TE, and he will return in spades if he can stay healthy!

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints TE Jeremy Shockey took a number of snaps with the third unit, even with TE Dan Campbell (knee) and TE Darnell Dinkins (ankle) out with injuries.

New Orleans Saints TE Dan Campbell is expected to be ready for the start of training camp on July 30 after having arthroscopic knee surgery on June 8, according to PSX. Campbell was injured on the first day of the team's veteran minicamp on June 5. CB Randall Gay (knee) was sidelined for most of the team's veteran minicamp last week with swelling in his knee. An MRI, however, showed that there was no structural damage in the joint.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune report until the recent minicamp, Saints TE Jeremy Shockey had spotty participation in the offseason program and missed the first four organized team activities. "He missed the first four OTAs," HC Sean Payton said. "He called me in advance and told me what he was doing. I understood it. It's not mandatory. He and I spoke. It wasn't like he was AWOL. We communicated and talked after he got back. He was here for the minicamp, and he's here this week and next week. Like I said, he understands what he has to do, and I'm confident that he's going to be able to do it." On May 21, Payton said Shockey had been excused from an OTA because of a family situation. Three days later, an entertainment Web site reported that Shockey was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital after becoming dehydrated at a casino pool party, touching off a firestorm in the media and chat rooms. "You can't control things like that," said Shockey, who recently showed solidarity when he went bow fishing with Brees and offensive players and donated their catch to a team luncheon at a downtown restaurant. "Coming from a big market in New York, you really can't control what they write about you. All you can do is control how you play on Sundays. If you get critiqued, that's fine. All you can really do is prove to your teammates and your coaches, because those are the guys you go out with and put it on the line for."

SI's Peter King believes that Jeremy Shockey is currently in the doghouse in New Orleans.

 

The Saints were disappointed in his work ethic last season, and he never did get on the same page with Drew Brees. "If he fits in, I'd love to have him," Brees told King. The Saints feel like their offense will be successful with or without Shockey, so he'll have to earn his way back into good graces.

Jeremy Shockey practiced with the third team primarily at Saints minicamp this weekend.

 

Billy Miller is running with the starters. Coach Sean Payton is clearly trying to get Shockey's attention after his immature "dehydration" episode at a Las Vegas pool party last month. We don't think it's a big deal, but Miller's presence is a reminder that the Saints get production from their tight ends no matter who plays. Shockey will need to earn his snaps.

I like Nicks this late. He could easily work his way onto tthe field early this year, and contribute. I considered him at 2 different places, chossing Harvin over him for m#4 WR, then again when I took Mush. I didn't think I could afford 2 rookies and felt that Mush offered more stability at the time. I really thought he'd have left the building by now.

Good pick-up with regards to Maroney, Fumble! I thought that I was the only guy with him in my sights, since FFtoday has him listed as the #5 RB in NE. His only problem has been health. Don't get me wrong, health issues have been a problem for him 90% of his career. When he is healthy, though, he is very productive. He's a shot in the dark, but at this point in the draft, I think that it is a good shot to take. Maroney will be given every opportunity to be one of the top 2 RB's on this team.

I haven't really been keeping up with D's or K's so forgive me if I pick one that has been picked already.

 

Considering D's are pretty much only TD based I like the Iggles in that format. DeShean Jackson is great on Special Teams. Plus the biltzing style defense is good for safeties and turnovers.

They've been #2, #7 and #1 over the last 3 seasons in total D/ST TDs... it's such and inexact science that they could be 32nd this year but all you can go on is trends, so happy to get them

I love the Jets as a 'semi-sleeper / middle of the pack' Defense this year. Rex Ryan is the coach and Leon Washington is the returner. I look for them to be top 7 or 8 Defense this year and they are not ranked in most rankings that high.

There were a lot of late round WRs to consider here. Clayton stood out to me for a few reasons.

 

1.) His only competition for the ball is Methuselah Mason. BAL does not have a high-pick rookie in the fold, and Mason will realize his age some year.

2.) Flacco now has a full year under his belt and will probably be allowed to air it out more taking a few more risks, which should benefit Clayton

3.) BAL is not a dominant rushing team any longer

4.) Contract year

I am completely with you. Larry Johnson is a major risk this season, and Jamaal Charles has to be considered in any league. I was a little dumb to let him slide, but I hate being one of the last to pick a defense, even in a league like this.

 

This may prove to be the steal of the draft.

Ive seen a few places with them ranked in the top 5 or 6 defenses. This might be a little premature but they have alot of the peices you look for in a great defense and Rex Ryan coming over should be huge. Jenkins, Ellis, Harris, Scott, Pace, Rhodes and Revis are all playmakers plus they added Leonhard and Lito Sheppard.

 

And they have been one of the better return teams in the NFL the past few years.

Charles was on my radar but I will never handcuff a number 2 back. The only type of RB i will consider handcuffing is my first back selected and usually only if he is a first or 2nd rounder. The way I see it, Id rather have 1 or 2 guys I KNOW can produce right away than waste a pick on someone who will only produce if my 5th round pick falters.
