Round 7 Commentary

Solid pick with Coles...he was one of 2 WRs I considered instead of Winslow.

Ah, 'The Soldja'...when thinking of WRs I was thinking I could get comparable production at 8/9 turn and know Winslow has his issues and injury concern. But, like it or not kid has talent and could see him being a nice security blanket TE and RZ target for whoever ends up the starter there in Tampa. So could do well overall and get a nice bump in ppr, as aside from last season had 2 seasons of 80+ recs.

So what I could potentially gain with Winslow and value here outweighed WRs I could get here.

Thoughts?

i dont exactly like Benson, but hes a starting RB and would make a decent 3rd back on a fantasy team.

Winslow, im up in the air on. I have him rated right around where you got him tho in terms of TE rankings maybe 1 or 2 guys right around him but definately after Olsen and Cooley.

Good stuff WW...Cooley honestly is guy I'm targeting this year value wise...definitely nice in ppr format and the 1 td last year was an abberation IMO.

I like the fact that they threw to benson 3 times last night!!! He's got the goods and the gig to get plenty of chances, and the receptions would be gravy.

I'm indifferent on Winslow. I'd draft him if he slipped into the 10th/11th, and I was looking for a TE, but in the 7th? Nope, I would have gone with another WR. There's still a couple of guys out there capable of 65+/1000/5...and the WR pick would have helped buffer the Braylon pick just in case 2008 Braylon makes an appearance. Winslow should be serviceable, but I think there are 3-4 other TEs who have similar value but could be had in the 9th/10th. However, you're not going to get the receiver production at your next turn you could have gotten here.

None of your picks are bad, nor even questionable by the way. You're getting players who have produced before, and at their appropriate ADPs. At the same time, you've got players with very low floors (Benson/Braylon). It's easy to say, hey this guy is gonna put up 1000 yards, 8 TDs...no problem. But I think it's almost more advantageous to say, this guy might not produce the way I want....I might need to insure against that.

for sure, considering he never scored less than 6 before last year.

i guess i held up the first round :pointstosky:

so i can't really complain about the slow down.

Nah, I held up the first round because I didn't even know the draft started.

But now I'm here like...all the time, and if you know me, I complain ALL THE TIME.

So whats everyone having for lunch

We're averaging about 1.5 - 2 rounds per day....not too bad....which means we'll finish this thing within the week. That's a pretty good clip for a FFToday mock if you ask me.

Danke, he represented a "value" at that spot that I could not ignore....

Lee Evans, big fan this season.

He struggled last 2 seasons because of being the #1 dude...with a really really crappy #2 dude in Josh Reed.

Before that, he had decent complementary WRs in Eric Moulds and Peerless Price, and Owens is going to be better than both of those dudes. I'm predicting 8 TDs.

7.08 - WR Domenik Hixon, NYG

This won't be a popular pick at all, but I'm going with it none the less. I'd say he is the most under-valued wide receiver in the draft, and he has been far and out the most consistent and best receiver in the Giants camp this year. I am looking for 85 receptions for 1100 yards and 8 td's. There is no doubt in my mind he will easily fulfill his role as a #3 WR. on my squad. His ADP is 9.05 but he is by far the best Wr left on my list. If you are looking for ADP value it is in the QB's and RB's right now, but the Wr's left who can help impact your squad are running thin.

was between 2 QB's for me. I decided to take the one with the better offensive line and who is (oddly) less of an injury risk.

id like to add that I knew Kevin Walter was V4E's next pick and I was very close to taking him just because I figured id get a response :overhead:

I had to down to 2 WRs who were very close. So it wouldn't have been a huge response.

But I'm happy with Walter has my 3rd WR. With my RBs and taking a QB early, my WRs have suffered to some degree, but they have huge potential.

I am feeling very good where I am at in this draft and thought about turning it on it's ear with my last pick. I had McNabb typed in, and figured that would launch the Qb grab. He was by far the best player on the board left, and it really wasn't close. I had Walter just behind another wideout on my list and he was a nice grab here.

well, just more so that having teamed with you in the IBL is why I knew you would pick Walter, because we both like him.

If Clash comes back we can get halfway thru the 8th

We just exchanged texts. I told him he was up. He will drop by and pick soon I bet.

he took the other QB i was deciding between with McNabb... I actually like Plamer better but McNabb is the safer pick imo.

I also would have taken Walter, had I not had Andre Johnson already. I almost cried when I had to take Holt instead of him.

I thought about McNabb/Palmer/Schaub at 7.05. I couldn't go McNabb because I already had Jackson and try to avoid stockpiling players from one team. Plus McNabb can be god awful some games.

I like Palmer alot this year. I'd feel even better if they would have signed Smith, but he's still holding out. Are they capable of protecting him this year? Especially against the likes of PIT/BAL twice, as well as the Vikings/Chargers/Jets.

Schaub leads a potent offense, has a questionable defense, and has a favorable schedule....he faces SEA, @STL, @MIA weeks 14-16.

Nice job. I was silently hoping he would fall to 7.12, though I suspected he would not, and almost took him at 6.1. I decided to play it according to my original plan, though, and knew that Cutler likely would fall, and I was perfectly content with that.

What I am noticing, this year, is that on occasion you can have Bree's at the lower half of round 2, and Brady in round 3......sometimes......and when that opportunity arises you should really take it, but let someone else overspend on them earlier......

If you can still snatch the likes of McNabb and Cutler in rounds 7 and 8, then you can load up at RB and WR in the preceeding rounds, and perhaps even reach up a little for your TE too.....

People always get overly nervous about the QB position, and end up taking them a round too early - IMHO

I normally don't take a QB early, but there is certianly a premium on getting one of the Big 3 as far as consistancy is concerned, and I almost feel rodgers could be included making it Big 4. These 4 guys are gonna be real stable, where as McNabb/Cutler/Warner, and even Rivers, can lay an egg. The early grab of Witten or other top TE, can be much costlier down the line. (and I tried both)
