Patriots will run up scores all year! 19-0 = 23 straight

Recommended Posts

Just putting it on record that I don't see anything in Belichick or Brady's past that shows me they won't be gunning for the record books again this year. In 2007 during the attempt at 19-0 Belichick was supposed to be this evil genius, disrespecting the competition by running up scores. He was this villian to everybody but now two seasons later somehow Belichick has been humbled by the SuperBowl loss to the Giants and he's not this villian anymore? I've heard people say that he realizes karma is why they lost that game so he's going not going to run up scores. PULLLLLLEAZE! Belichick knows the reason the Pats lost is because the Giants outplayed them and not because they ran up the score against Washington 8 weeks earlier.

Before 2007 Belichick had shown many times that he was very aware of NFL history. He always references historical accomplishments after the fact and having Flutie drop kick was just insanity. I still don't know why he did that. Nobody was that impressed and WE LOVE FLUTIE around here. But he wanted that record and he wanted Flutie to get it.

21 game win streak, back 2 back SuperBowls, 3 Superbowls in 4 years, Fluties drop kick is a classic example, and running up the score and setting records in 2007. This is who Belichick is. It's who Brady is. They are going to push and push and push and score as much as they can. Don't believe the hype.

By the way. What are they playing for this year? Obviously a SuperBowl but if they go 19-0 they will also have 23 straight wins (4 to end last season) and that will be a new consecutive win streak record.

Don't you think if I know this Coach Belichick does? He's aware of it and he wants it and they are going to do whatever they can to get it. One blowout at a time.

So swinging back to Fantasy, I say take Brady, Moss, and Welker and look for 2007 numbers. The rest of the team are secondary players and only spot starts.

Pats D is going to be a top 3 Defense this year.

Gostkowski is going to be top 3 K

If Brady stays 100% for the entire seaosn, they should be fine offensively, but there is still risk.

All of that goes up in smoke if Brady's arm is not truly in game shape or his leg doesn't hold up.

Well I'm not really speaking to if they have the talent to do it or if Brady's in shape. Going from the assumption that they are healthy this team clearly has MAJOR potential. If they are as talented as they were in 2007 I'm saying they'll run up scores again.

Obviously if they don't have the ability to do it they can't. But I think they do and they will!

Jarvis. Don't you get bored of yourself? I mean 4000 posts and you still have this nastiness. If you don't like it don't read. 4000 posts and that's all you can bring to the table?

It's not a rah rah thread at all. It's a response to a lot of people that say the Pats are going to run the ball and slow it down because of the SuperBowl loss. My response is DOUBT IT! That's not what Belichick is about. He's going to do the same he has always done and I don't see how he went from being this villian in everyone's eyes to this humbles competitor.

I'd say the number one topic this off season is where to draft Brady? It was on ESPN. It's been on here before. So IMHO the Pats are going to go for it and go for the records. They'll run up scores all year in that attempt. Will they make it? Probably not I mean the odds are stacked, but they'll sure as well try and that's very relevant for fantasy.

Your reply had no relevance at all. Pretty dissappointing for 4000 posts.

I sincerely hope Vernon Gholston is this year's Bernard Pollard.

Here's a tip Buckner, your offensive line couldn't protect against a Cincy defense that's not all that great, and really wasn't gunning for Tom Terrific. And you're sporting essentially the same defense that Miami ravaged last season. You couldn't pull of 19-0 once before and you won't pull it of this time.

haha, nice try.....this looks more like a worried homer thread.

this guy watched that second preseason game, saw brady back-footing and overthrowing throws, not stepping up cause he was scared, and realized what was different about the board......that those post-first-preseason-game threads and posts from last week, like "40TDs a lock" and "they're gonna be great like 2007 again" and "id blow brady if i could could" were not so happily thrown around during the 24hrs afterward. all the homers were quiet as fock after that game, it actually was peaceful and crickets here....so now birdbrainbrady, er, whatever his name is, wants to reassure the pats masses that its ok to remain upbeat and overconfident.

good job, this will help out the unsure masses and they'll resurface by nightfall and we'll have fresh threads entitled "brady will break farve's 460 career TD passes all in this one season" .......

This is exactly what I've been saying...it's not that Brady's knee isn't ready, and it's not that the he can't take a hit, it's that not having confidence in stepping into that throw causes accuracy issues. Until he faces a real defense that's hell bent on knocking his ass around he hasn't shown anything.

And why are they gunning so hard for THEIR OWN records??? I understand Bill prolly wanted Manning's (Colts) record for passing TDs, but why go out of your way to break your own records? Especially given that they didn't even win a championship that year, or make the playoffs the year after? And by the way, that DEF will be middle-of-the-road at best.

With Shawn Springs, Derrick Burgess, Joey Galloway, and Fred Taylor, this would be an awesome team................in 2001.

Add Seymour and Bruschi and they're older than half of the Hall of Fame members.

I don't want to get into all the arguments in this thread, but I have been grabbing Brady in the 1st anytime I have pick 9 or later or in the 2nd if he's available. There's no doubt in my mind he'll break 40 TDs again if he plays 16 games. He could get hurt again of course, but so could anyone else I would draft.

If Brady throws as much as he did in 07' he will get hurt. Teams will continually blitz his ass in to oblivion. Yes they will give up some big TD's but sooner than latter someone WILL get to him and end it.

I agree. That's basically what started to happen at the end of 2007 anyway, but given his injury and year away from the game it's now a much bigger issue.

Go back and look at the last 9 games the Pats played in 2007. They were 1-8 against the spread. Their offense slowed down a bit. Some of that was weather, some of that was opposing defenses adjusting. I would expect more of the latter half of '07 Pats rather than the first half '07 Pats. Especially with everyone 2 years older and slower and Brady coming back from his injury.

Also, it's been quite a while since the Pats have won a Super Bowl. Just sayin.

Makes you wonder if Brady would have that TD record if Manning had run up the score all season... instead of easing up against the Ravens and not playing the final game of the year. Guess stats really are more important to some than others. :music_guitarred:

Since most of you had nothing solid to add I'll just reply directly to those who did. However, while I wasn't trying to be a Super Homer I obviously am and I've saved this. I'll be sure to call out of all you throughout the season as the Pats dominate. Be sure to pay attention because I'm going to be ruthless as we hurt your teams.

Brady is tough as nails and hasn't taken many hits over the years and he won't take many this year either. Why? Because he handles the protection and he has a great pocket presence. Sure he'll drop back and pass but he won't get hit that often because he's not a statue like Warner. Brady and Peyton have that great ability to avoid hits and a super quick release. But at least your point makes sense, I just don't see why if you think that about Brady you aren't saying "Brees, Manning and anyone else who drops back is dead meat"? Injuries are for the most part just luck. Bad or good. Just luck.

Also fair points. I don't think you can really point to the spread since those spreads were outrageous but their scoring did slow a bit. Of course I don't think it was as much about opposing defenses adjusting as we played some real tough D's during that last stretch.

I'm not worried about the age of the offense. Randy is still the best wideout in the league and Welker is still the best slot in the league.

Sure they haven't won the SuperBowl in a while but what's the point? They've been right in it every year and among the best teams in the NFL every year they've had Brady. They choked against Indy in the AFC Championship but they got to the AFC Championship! They lost to the Giants 2 years ago but they were still playing at a level the NFL has never seen. Last year is a bust because of the Brady injury. Not many teams win when they lose HOF QB's quarter 1 game 1. In fact I challenge you to show me any team that has lost a HOF QB during the season and still won the SuperBowl? I can't think of any in the last 25 years.

Good points other than your last one about the SuperBowl which is irrelevant since they are still the best and most consistent team in the league for a decade now.

I do think they have a chance at 16-0. But like I've said you need some luck to make that happen and it will be hard. But I have NO DOUBT at all they sweep the AFC East and get at least 14 wins.

Revenge is coming soon to a season near you.

Revenge? HAs it occured to you that Brady's knee injury was 'revenge' for their 3 unearned rings by the rst of the league? And if it didn't happen in week one, it would have happened in week two. Or three.

Karma's a ######, dude.
