cyclone24 1,914 Posted December 30, 2009 How does this argument hold water? Manning could have been hurt in the time that he played just as easily as he could have had he been left in the game. It doesn't matter, the Colts will be ousted from the playoffs and Colts fans will be left wondering (yet again) if sitting their stars made a difference. You may be right...but it wont have anything to do with playing or not playing them. And to the arguement....obviously more time played...the more opportunity for injury. And i know...he could get hurt getting off the bus....but limiting the chances of getting hurt is what the club is looking to do.
PATSSOX 22 Posted December 30, 2009 Yeah, most Patriots fans agree with you. and what about the fact that other teams also do or did what the Patriots did They just dont have a pissy little whinny fat bastard of an ex-coach like Magnini who would tell on them

redtodd 7 Posted December 30, 2009 That just makes the SB loss more embarrassing. I love when others try to call it "embarrassing." If the same thing happened to the Eagles, it would be considered the greatest season in Eagles history. I only make this Eagles reference because I know you are back on the bandwagon again now that they are ready for the playoff run.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted December 30, 2009 The end game is the Superbowl. Would going 19-0 been cool? Of course. However if the team thought it was in the best interest to sit the starters I got no problem with it. It's not just Manning. What if Jeff Saturday gets rolled up? Wayne, Clark, Mathis, Freeney, ? I would have liked they went for the 19-0, but I think people are really making to much of what happened on Sunday.

jaxjag 43 Posted December 30, 2009 Funny how you try to sum up their decade and forgot to mention the cheating scandal. And if you think McNabb/Eagles losing a three-point game where they were underdogs going-in is a worse choke-job than being 18-0 and a double-digit favorite and losing to a wild card team with six losses, then you are more of a blind homer than I thought. That was the biggest choke-job in NFL history. So you define choking as performance against the spread... I define choking as letting your emotions/fear/nerves affect how you play the game. McNabb's performance is the definition of choking. Not just a cliche... the very definition of choking. The Patriots lost a game, one that was well played by the Giants and really could have gone either way. Brady was in a boot the week prior to the game. Did he complain about it or hyperventilate in the huddle? Did they choke or just lose to a better team that day? Don't just throw around cliches; losing doesn't equate to choking. Blind homer? Not exactly although Moss is on my fantasy team. Nice try though.

When your average margin of victory is greater than ten points per game in an undefeated season, and you're double-digit favorites over a wild card team in a game where your quarterback already has three rings and is facing a first-time participant, and you proceed to LOSE THE GAME, it is the very definition of choking. McNabb losing to a team that knew when the Eagles were blitzing and what coverage they'd be in, and only bu three points, might just be his crowning achievement. They lost by a freakin' field goal to a team that was cheating. A few years later, we found out how good the Pats were when they didn't have that advantage. Thanks for playing. You do realize that all NFL teams study tapes to see what they can pick up to tell them when their opponent is blitzing and they put players in motion to figure out what coverage the defense is in So if the Eagles do not know that than shame on them

If you look at what they were doing it was not like they were hiding what they were doing either. Since the Whinny Fat little Bastard told on them its not like the results are much different are they be honest now and dont just say some stupid sh!t to try and be funny. 2007-16-0 regular season only team to ever do and lost in Super Bowl 2008-11-5 Brady plays less than one quarter entire season and team still goes 11-5 and becomes first 11-5 team to miss playoffs 2009-10-5 Won AFC EAST again and finish in playoffs TBD That is 37-10 over last 3 regular seasons and another SuperBowl appearance. Are you gonna seriously try and tell me that it made a HUGE difference

Don't waste too much breath on the Eagles with Newbs. He is not really a fan vof them. He only cares about them when they are entering the playoffs. He cares more about other teams than the team he occasionally roots for. If you want an easy test, start two threads. One talking about the Patriots and the other talking about the Eagles. See which one he is a top poster in.

redtodd 7 Posted December 30, 2009 That's every year, genius. Yep. You start caring around week 15 when it looks like they will be in. Then you catapult off the bandwagon when the inevitable bouncing from the playoffs happen. Any real fan talks more about their own team than others. HTH! three out of four 0 Posted December 31, 2009 Actually, the NFL says the Colts won the most game this decade. And playoff games should count double? OMG, you are a bigger idiot than Polian! You're right -let's not count such trivial things as POSTSEASON wins. Colts have most REGULAR season wins this decade. Colts have most one-and-dones in the playoffs this decade. Colts have the most one-and-dones in the playoffs in ANY decade.

It was past the halfway mark of the third quarter and the Colts were leading 15-10 in a tight game (duh). That's really where the "protect the players" argument loses a whole lot of water.
