Dan 62 Posted June 10, 2010 I'm positive he's not FFLW, but agree he would be very solid. Yeah, I was pretty sure he wasn't, but I couldn't remember, and I didn't want to leave him unattributed.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted June 10, 2010 How much time out of the normal work day 9 to 5 est. is involved? Outside of the normal time it takes to be a football freak?
Chronic Husker 85 Posted June 10, 2010 Actually . . . it's Cuse9. Oh, Cuse9 is one of my favorite posters. Hardly ever do you find ONE person that roots for both the Broncos and Huskers. When you have TWO of them and combine their powers....let's just say that any entity with that massive force is practically unstoppable.
Dan 62 Posted June 10, 2010 How much time out of the normal work day 9 to 5 est. is involved? Outside of the normal time it takes to be a football freak? Take the average freakiness and multiply by 3. Now if you're already like "total freak" it's not as much of a jump, but it's still a jump, because your responsibility is not just for your team, but as a teammate the teams of 11 other owners, and your input and assistance is necessary in the construction of all those teams. You're working closely with the whole squad to work on targets, strategy, and trading in order to make all the teams solid, and that takes time. The drafts are the most time-consuming, as there will be 5-8 drafts taking place in a staggered overlap, with trades that can take place between drafts, and with a total of 60 to 96 owners with whom to trade and negotiate. During the season, the time requirement lessens, but there is a higher expectation that you will continue to manage your own team proactively, as well as taking part in the adjustments that your teammates are making. It's not a "draft and walk away" league, because that mentality ends up with a one-year stay in the IBL.

If may add to this......its unlike anything you have ever done before, the draft alone will intimidate you at first, but once that is past, its a steady and profound participatory effort..... Every lineup submission, FA move....are all discussed and together we arrive at a direction.....its pretty fun once you get into the groove...

KSB2424 3,148 Posted June 10, 2010 If it's a PPR league, then I hearby submit my hat into the ring for consideration of aforementioned open spots. My resume consists of winning 90% of every league I've ever played. I batted .667 in mens league softball last season. I not only have all my hair, but am a damn fine lawn mowerer. My very first draft pick in fantasy football was Stephen Davis and he has not been benched since. I enjoy walks in the rain and poops in the park. I have the ability to kill two stones with just one bird. When I give jerryskids the finger it is me telling him how many seconds he has before I dominate him in the IBL fantasy football league. This much is true. If called upon I will in fact take the blue pill. I once punched a magician, that's right...you heard me. Drafting me for your team would be akin to the Nationals picking Strasburg. I also do not mind potato sacks. Yoohoo is delicious. Lastly...and most importantly.... Aniston > Jolie. There, I said it. JScott 20 Posted June 10, 2010 He's done it the last two years, and it indicated at the end of last year that he was stepping down as Head Commish. In fact, I believe he's stepping away from the league for at least a year. He's very busy, parent of young family and such . . . We'll find someone. Exactly. Just don't have the time to even be a team owner this season. But I hope to be back next year. Dan, if you're up for it, I'd second you as HC this season. You helped me out a ton last season and I think we finally got a good product in place. To the point where there shouldn't be nearly as much drama/headaches as there was 2 seasons ago. And I'd be available in an advisor role if you needed someone to bounce anything off of.

Although I've never been in the league when anyone but JScott ran it, I'd imagine no one has handled that insanity more effectively than he did. I'd also like to request that when you return to the IBL you do it as a member of team FFToday.
Me_2006 14 Posted June 11, 2010 also, once the drafts start rolling you need to be contactable 24/7 basically for about a month. It's ridiculously fun, to the point that no matter how frustrating or tiring it may be at times, you just can't walk away. But it is time consuming. If your thought process is 'oh, another fun league to be in' I'd probably look elsewhere for that. And no offense, but if you aren't really, really good, I wouldn't bother or you'll just be overwhelmed and in the way. The vets are really helpful to new guys, so if it's only the format and scope of the thing, don't let that push you away. It's a learn-as-you-go thing and I'm still finding my way around and learning the faces and personalities going into year three. If you have the dedication, it's the best league you'll ever be in. Tons of hilarity and competition.

WhiteWonder 2,681 Posted June 30, 2010 Great interview process your team has. Should have at least asked questions to people who said they were interested, might find some football obsessed sleepers. Fair point!, I will discuss that issue with management for future seasons! without speaking out of place, this is just my 2nd season, but it seems board longevity, history and participation go a long way, ie being an active vet of the site. FantasyKing 4 Posted June 30, 2010 Would have loved to come back in this and I appreciate the email Dan, my job now will just not allow me to stay as active in the draft as I like to be. Also many sites at my new location are now blocked and it's a learning software so if it wasn't blocked Monday, good chance it may be blocked on Tuesday. I wish you guys best of luck - represent FFT! Dan 62 Posted June 30, 2010 Great interview process your team has. Should have at least asked questions to people who said they were interested, might find some football obsessed sleepers. I suppose we could have everyone meet at in Indianapolis for an IBL combine. I hear what you're saying, and I'm not going to suggest that the selection process is flawless; but 10 guys are looking at your FF Today resumes to try to make a determination on who is going to fit best with the team. In some ways, everybody on the board "interviews" all the time.

RLLD 4,145 Posted June 30, 2010 Great interview process your team has. Should have at least asked questions to people who said they were interested, might find some football obsessed sleepers. As a special note to anyone interested in the IBL, it's a team effort and antagonistic posts like this more less disqualify you completely. We have had our share of knowitalls and braggarts who swoop in as if they have it all worked out, that wont work with this league. If you are interested please apply by all means, but the veterans of the group know the kind of chemistry it takes to compete, and this kind of attitude is pretty much the polar opposite. WhiteWonder 2,681 Posted June 30, 2010 i was also going to add that there was ample time to ask questions or state your case without being prompted. im sure some people even took it upon themselves to contact Dan with questions or comments. however I am not discounting the idea of a more formal interview. perhaps next year we can have an interview thread. It's not a big deal but how can you say my post was antagonistic? The initial thread asked who was interested and I stated that I was. Later in the thread the replacements were announced without hopeful candidates being asked one question. Good luck and I hope fftoday wins the IBL but I have watched every snap of every NFL football game for over 10 years via the Sunday ticket and have the summers off so I think I could have really helped. Good luck to your team. pittnthat
