FantasyKing 4 Posted June 30, 2010 It's not a big deal but how can you say my post was antagonistic? The initial thread asked who was interested and I stated that I was. Later in the thread the replacements were announced without hopeful candidates being asked one question. Good luck and I hope fftoday wins the IBL but I have watched every snap of every NFL football game for over 10 years via the Sunday ticket and have the summers off so I think I could have really helped. Good luck to your team. pittnthat First off he is a Steeler fan, and 2nd I admire that he really wants to be a part of it. Put him in coach!
Dan 66 Posted July 1, 2010 pittnthat - What I said earlier really is true. In looking to put together a board that represents FF Today, we're evaluating what we see at FF Today. We're gauging what we see. If there isn't a lot to work with, then it comes down to someone knowing that person from a league or mock or something. I'm with FK - You're a Steelers' fan, come on in, there's only three of us. And it's worse, because now we have two Ravens' fans. Lord help us all! BUT, when it comes down to it, we want to see how you think and evaluate and work with people. There is necessary hesitation when someone has no track record, because we have had brilliant team members that never contribute. They are consistent themselves, but don't aid the team aspect of the competition. Are you like that? Probably not, but we have no way of knowing.

If you have an opening then great and if you don't and just want to bounce some ideas off of an outsider then that's fine as well. Like I said earlier, I am crazy about football. Even before the super cast was available from directv, I was putting 8 tv's in my basement to watch every snap of every game. I also take fantasy real serious and have done well in it as my strength is putting together ranking lists. I know I should post more than I do but as you know the majority of topics on the board are people bashing posters favorite teams instead of real fantasy talk. Let me know if you need me 4 anything in the IBL. pittnthat

Last place As Ray implied, think of it like being a Browns fan; you suck now but you can hold onto the days long ago when you used to be relevant. Seriously though, FFT employed a high risk/reward strategy, and in that strategy chose... poorly. I remember in particular thinking that Dan played the drafts like a concert violinist, and it is not easy for one out of 96 drafts to stand out as excellent. It was a strange year to be sure, the players who should have produced did not, and the players who were looked upon as secondary rose up, hence the disparity....water under the bridge, hopefully its another fun year, I love the new blood coming in, the expansion and the PPR, even given the storied history of this thing, its actually getting better....just cool... You might know this but Bomb GM'd us (FFT) to an IBL crown about 5 years ago. He knows IBL inside and out. He pioneered many trade tactics in it, and was basically banned because the other squads didn't want to play him anymore. He became our GM the last year we won it. He also pioneered the trade tactic to get to 1st rounders while keeping 3rd. It has been copied every year since until last year when I don't think anyone pulled it off. The Browns have sucked for years, and their fans are still faithful and rabid. This is more like a Dallas fan . . . who walks out in disgust after their first atrocious season. Really looking forward to getting back to this. Chomping at the bit for redemption, because that was hard to endure. Livewire did a great job in '09; the gap between first and second was similar to the one between the Huddle and FFT . . . I think 5 years ago. It's impressive when you see it. Stewburtx8 67 Posted July 28, 2010 Draft A Draft B Draft C Huge run on WRs through the first couple rounds of each draft. Thanks! Is this PPR scoring I think I saw? Can't say the huge run on WR's really suprises me. After Steven Jackson, I don't see a lot of difference between the #7 RB and the #20 RB or so. I think Deangelo, Turner, Grant, Mendenhall, Greene, Moreno, Mathews, Wells, McCoy, Stewart, Charles, Benson, P.Thomas all have their strengths and weaknesses. Even Addai and Forte enter this discussion in PPR. Some of the better runners (Turner, Greene, etc) aren't the best pass catchers. And some of the better receivers (Charles, Mathews, McCoy, Thomas) may not get the rushing workload of some of the other guys. So taking an elite WR or QB over your choice of this group makes sense. Seems to be what many of the FFToday'ers are doing soo far. I'll continue to see how things go. Good luck!

Stewburtx8 67 Posted July 29, 2010 Cool. Keep an eye, make your comments. I'm curious to hear what you think of this league, Stew. It's different than just about anything you've done . . . I'm kind of suprised Drew Brees has fell to the 3rd round in both Drafts B and C. And he went as late as 2.08 in draft A. I'll make the assumption that the scoring is 4 points for passing TD's, which is why Rodgers and his added rushing ability is going a full round ahead of him. But considering the pounding Rodgers has taken, I think they are pretty equal. I rarely take a QB early in fantasy drafts, but I don't think I could ever pass on Brees in the 3rd round, especially when these are teams that already got a top RB. Sidney Rice seems to be finding his way on to quite a few FFToday teams. I think he definitely is a back end top 10 WR, really close to the elite group. No reason to believe he can't repeat his 2009 season (obviously assuming Favre is back). The guy has big play ability but also can be a very good possession receiver and catches a very high rate of balls thrown his way.

The QBs going sluggishly is the norm in this league, going by last year's standards. You will see a preponderance of WRs because of the format and the inevitable panic-mode on the position. I don't disagree with you, just explaining why it happens. Sidney Rice: A thing of beauty. Still more drafts to go, but I'm quite content having him on my team, and having three copies already for FFToday. Through about 5 rounds now, on average. Next three drafts start on Monday. Then it gets really fun.
