Orlando gets:

Gilbert Arenas

Jason Richardson

Hedo Turkoglu

:shocking:

They give up:

Pietrus

Gortat

Vince Carter

Rashard Lewis

Wow.

Arenas has not played much the last 3 years with injuries. Something like 50 games in 3 years. If he stays healthy and regains form then it tilts this trade towrds Orlando. But thats a big if.

The Magic and Suns have agreed to a trade that will send Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus, and a 2011 first-round pick to Phoenix, in exchange for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark.'

The deal should be made official within 24 hours. Phoenix gets some long-term savings and the mobile center they crave, while Orlando restocks their wing positions and improves their perimeter game. Hedo could be a big winner from a fantasy perspective, as he was struggling badly in Phoenix, while Gortat has the potential to break out with heavy playing time. Vince also figures to benefit alongside Nash in the Suns' wide open offense. Dec. 18 - 2:22 pm et

Gilbert Arenas has officially been traded to the Magic for Rashard Lewis.

Orlando had concerns about Arenas' health and the $62.4 million left on his contract, but he's 29 years old and has shown flashes of his old explosive self this season. He seems best suited to playing SG, which would shift Jason Richardson to SF, and the alternative is to make Arenas the PG while Jameer Nelson comes off the bench. However you slice it, Stan Van Gundy now has copious offensive firepower at his disposal -- and a defensive MVP to clean things up at the other end. Dec. 18 - 3:54 pm et

As a Suns fan I like this. Hedo wasn't working, and Gortat provides some needed size. Hate to lose Richardson, but his contract expires after this year. Draft pick is a bonus.

On paper, i think it's a win-win for the Suns and the Magic.

I think Gilbert, as long as he can stay healthy, will be revitalize. Remember when he was a top 10 player? I think he can get pretty close to that if he works at it. I think next year Orlando can be really sick once all these new pieces gel. Even this year i think they can beat the Heat.

:shocking: The Orlando Magic just take out the Orlando. I dunno.

So, with Gortat gone, who plays center for Orlando when Howard gets in his usual foul trouble?

I think it's just "Magic", not "The Magic"...right?

From now on, it's the Orlando Magics, Miami Heats, and Colorado Avalanches and whatever other gay '90s team names that have no plural form.

Don't like the Arenas part of the deal. Hasn't shown he can stay healthy, and he's exactly the wrong guy to have in hopes he'll gel with others. Just never been a fan; classic example of a guy that can get his numbers, as long as it doesn't matter if the team wins.

Really like the aquisition of Richardson. Maybe Hedo can show something in Orlando; he sure hasn't since he's left town.

PHX makes out like a bandit. They're going nowhere, and the fan base is pretty unsophisticated. They'll ooh and aah over what's left of Carter just like they did over JRich (who is a FAR better player at this stage...maybe at any stage. Carter sucks.) He and Nash will keep white butts in the seats. They get some cash...and don't overlook that aspect with Sarver as owner...and a 2011 pick.

Arenas is a "me" guy to the end. He is serious bad news and his knees are much worse that he lets on. If he pushes himself in one game, he'll take the next 3 off. If he is pushed by the team, he won't last the season. He should have been out of Washington 3 years ago, but the doddering owner liked him.

Don't like this trade for Orlando. Pietrus and Gorat are the "glue" guys you need to win championships. They played their roles really well.

So, of all the guys involved in this trade, which one's ballsac does KSB gargle this time? I'm thinking Terkoglu.

Yeah, to me Richardson is an upgrade over Carter for sure. Turk will likely become productive again, i can see him averaging 12-14 a game.

Gilbert is the question mark. I think a lot of his immaturity had to do with him being on a sh1t team his whole career. I use to really like him, but he's been a d1ck lately. I really think him going to a true contender can really boost him, if his knees hold out.

If Gilbert can be 70% of what he was, i think they will be a huge upgrade for Orlando. I mean, he is only 29, he can still get it back easily.
