Man, I missed this entire thread. I was in Tallahassee at a fossil/artifact show Friday and Saturday. Lots of fun. GH picked some really nice teeth and the display looks great. They might be broken soon if he does not stop balancing them on deer antlers though. I will have to show off my newest finds tonight or tomorrow. I have an unidentified find that may be something cool or just a piece of junk. Once I figure that out I will post it. And that's ok Newbie, I don't know who you are either. You would think that with my .75 or so posts per day that everyone would have heard of me. southcarolina, I was out of magnets when you won.

Alright B!tch - - this is what I've found in Alabama since I moved here in 2005

 

Starting left to right

#1 fossilized ocean floor when 'Bama was an ocean - found this in my creek 75 yards away, a little upstream about 10' down where the creek has dug out its path

 

#2 granite rock with a deep hole - not 100% sure on this one, but I think this was used for starting fires with a stick - found at flint river 10 miles away

 

#3 A great find - some sort of rock utensil/ hand tool - - definitely for a right hand - the mold fits perfectly in my hand, with the right thumb molded and perfect fit for my 4 other fingers - Flint river 10 miles away

#4 three angled rocks - 1 is definitely a scraper (paint rock river), one looks like and arrowhead (tennessee river) , and the other I can't really tell (the creek by my house)

 

#5 solid granite(i think) definitely part of the pestal and mortar combo - - OK maybe the chiefs superball on the end of his walking stick - - flint river, found right beside #2

 

#6 Petrified wood - I was panning for gold in the Talledega National Forrest

 

so there you have it...my specialties from this earth
