Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 20, 2011 I'm really high on rice and 5 seems safe to land him. I'll follow hopefully with Wallace if not best wr avail and then look to land forte or Blount or maybe Bradshaw. Will follow with a top 8 qb like romo or shaub. What's your favorite spot this year? Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 20, 2011 Well Rice just went 3 in my mock draft. Hope he doesn't creep up too many boards. Dudeman was a beast in the final quarter of the season.
PackYourNut 47 Posted July 20, 2011 4th or 5th seems to be a good spot in the mocks I've done.
statman 0 Posted July 20, 2011 4th or 5th seems to be a good spot in the mocks I've done. I did a 12 team mock yesterday and got Rice at #7. I then took Jennings in the 2nd and Wallace in the 3rd.
Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 20, 2011 Little known fact. Rice has 3,817 yds the past 2 seasons. Second only to chris Johnson.

uwilose123 2 Posted July 21, 2011 I would take 3rd and run with it getting any of the consensus top three backs and the earlier 2nd round pick (AP, CJ, AF) of the two in front of you.
rocco91 0 Posted July 21, 2011 In PPR I love Rice this year and would like to get the 4th to make sure I get him...Would be ok with 5 but then Rice might go 4 and I would be "stuck" with Charles... In non PPR I want one of the TOP 3 picks....I think there will be a bigger drop off to Rice, CHarles, Mccoy from the TOP 3 in NON PPR
dcgangstas 41 Posted July 23, 2011 I like the 4th spot this year. I think Jamaal Charles is going to have a massive season. But in all honesty, you can build a great team from any spot in a snake draft, you just need to develop your strategy before you go into the draft. Even if you're drafting 12th (last) in a large league, you could get Rashard Mendenhall and Darren McFadden in the first two rounds, and come back in round 3 and 4 and take solid WRs like say Mike Williams, Dwayne Bowe or Jeremy Maclin. That's a pretty good start.
MDC 7,403 Posted July 24, 2011 4/5. I'd like Rice or Charles with a higher 2nd round pick than the Top 3. I'd gladly start a draft with something like Rice/Nicks.
PATSSOX 22 Posted July 24, 2011 I want somewhere in the 4-6. Normally hate that spot but there are 6-7 RBs ill be happy with in any of those spots. Im gonna get some more mocks under my belt before really have good idea though. Coming back around in 2nd you should be able to get damn good RB if want to get a couple studs or a very solid #1 WR. The top 3 WR's(AJ, CJ, and Roddy) should be gone so probably grab someone like Gore or Sjax if they somehow make it back. Be dam good start to team if could land Rice or Charles then Gore on way back (that wont happen but would be nice) and Miles Austin in 3rd.
Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 30, 2011 I just got 4 so I'm gonna target rice possibly with a rb and wr in the next 2 rounds. My only concern is that I was planning on getting a top qb but it takes a long time to snake back. If romo is there I think I take him but if not I may wait for Eli/stafford ect Anyone have thoughts on draft strategy from 4-5?
IGotWorms 4,058 Posted July 30, 2011 I agree with the general consensus, 4 or 5 is probably the best spot to draft this year. Land yourself a high quality RB and still have some elite WRs or high-end RB2s to pick from in the second round.
NPNG 4 Posted July 30, 2011 I like #6 because you are going to get one of AP, Foster, C. Johnson, Charles, Rice, or McCoy. I think Charles and McCoy are going to be ppr monsters this year. If you are pick 6th you will have pick #19 in the second round and should land you a stud WR in the lines of Wayne, Wallace, Austin, etc. Sets you up in the 3rd round with a solid #2RB or a QB on the lines of Romo or possibly Rivers. PATSSOX 22 Posted July 31, 2011 4th or 5th seems to be a good spot in the mocks I've done. Normally i hate 4th or 5th but this year im with you i like these spots. I probably will be happy with one of top 6 or maybe 7. You can get one of the these backs Foster, AP, CJ, Rice, Charles, MJD and maybe stretch for McCoy. Then on way back you should get a choice of pretty dam good RB or WR and then on way back in round 3 can get a RB if took one of WRs or probably damn good QB. Of course i will change my mind 1000 times before i do my first draft and will throw my strategy right out the damn window when im starring at my sheet
giraldi02 474 Posted July 31, 2011 I got the 7th pick in my main PPR league. I have Vick or Rodgers or the top WR to choose from as the top 6 are pretty much going to all be the top six backs. The big question I have right now is finalizing my WR top tier. I have Megatron and Andre Johnson very close but haven't decided whom I'd take. Either way starting a team with one of them and a back like Forte, Hillis, or S-jax or another receiver like Jennings or Nicks would be great.
cyclone24 1,913 Posted August 1, 2011 Beautiful thread....Im drafting 4th and ive done about 8000 mock drafts i think. I seem to have the best team when i go Charles in round one. In round two when it comes around if i see that there are 4 qbs remaining id be happy with if i pass on one (assuming worst that the 3 behind me will ALL take a qb in round 2) then ill take the best RB or if a no brainer WR is there. But outside of Roddy, CJ, Andre and Fitz...i dont see one. Grab the best QB available in round 3 (Usually Peyton, Brady ive seen slip, Brees, etc) Round 4--Best WR left of Gates (never seen him get to me in round 4 though) Round 5--Best WR or TE (If its Finley, Witten or Clark) Round 6-- Best of whichever i didnt get in round 5. Fantasy Noob 10 Posted August 1, 2011 I like 3rd you get an elite RB and 3 of the top 26 players. I think top 6 so you can get an elite RB is just a huge advantage, even snake style drafts don't properly compensate for this. I am rapidly becoming a fan of auction. Moe Money 4 Posted August 1, 2011 I landed the six spot in a ppr and am ecstatic with the idea of McCoy in the first. 80 catches is a realistic possibility, 800-900 rushing yds conservatively, plus receiving yardage and td's is something to be excited about!!! It's a deep RB pool for picks 1-6 in a ppr..... First time in a while.

It's a deep RB pool for picks 1-6 in a ppr..... First time in a while. I love the idea of McCoy at #6. Defenses at the end of the year started to somewhat figue Vick out and if he gets hurt, Vince Young is not going downfield with any regularity. Both lead to McCoy running the ball or hitting him out of the backfield. The idea a spy on Vick opens things up for McCoy as well.
Flgatorguy87 160 Posted August 2, 2011 At the turn, where I have drafted the last 2 years, because it means I won my league. I am also comfortable grabbing two of whoever slips from the top RB's or WR's. I think it's the best place in the 1st rd to draft BPA.

Flgatorguy87 160 Posted August 2, 2011 Who y'all like better this year.. McFadden or McCoy? Blount or Mathews? Not really pertinent to the thread but... McCoy McFadden Blount Mathews I am keeping DMC for a 9th...then keep my first and second to draft at the turn. I already like my start and I don't draft for 3 weeks. Some people will disagree with Mathews, but IMO Tolbert has established himself as the receiving/GL back. Not to mention that is Rivers team without a doubt. I could see Mathews hitting 900 yds and 5 tds. But that's not hard to find in later rounds.

Flgatorguy87 160 Posted August 2, 2011 I think McFadden is poised for a big year. I hope your right, but I think DMC is more on pace for a "solid" year. I hate the fact that he lost Cable, and that offense isn't getting any better. I am keeping him purely for value. I would be thrilled if he could be close to repeating last year. My only concern is that I was planning on getting a top qb but it takes a long time to snake back. If romo is there I think I take him but if not I may wait for Eli/stafford ect Anyone have thoughts on draft strategy from 4-5? I pulled 4 for an upcoming PPR draft as well. I'll probably take Rice or McCoy in the 1st. Then, I'll go either WR/WR or RB/WR depending on the value of who is there. I'd love to get Gore, SJax or Fitz in the 2nd and hope that someone like Mike Wallace falls to the early 3rd. At TE, I'll consider Gates in the 3rd if my top WR targets are gone. I think he's going to have a big year and that will be my only chance to get him. If I don't, I'll grab TE in the 4th/5th if I can get one of the top 4 (Witten, Finley, Clark) is there. I'd have to think about Vernon Davis if the other guys were gone, but would probably pass and hope to get Jimmy Graham in the 6th. I like a lot of the QBs and WRs available in the mid-rounds so as long as I get one top 10 WR in the 2nd or 3rd, I'm fine waiting. I'll probably target my QB in the top of the 7th. Dream draft would look something like: R. Rice, SJax, M. Wallace, Witten, S. Holmes, AJ Green, J. Freeman with another solid QB option and lots of RBs and WRs to close it out. PATSSOX 22 Posted August 5, 2011 I just got the #6 pick in one of my 12 team leagues Guy with #1 pick has been saying he was taking Vick with his first pick this year. I hope like hell he picks Vick #1. I want one of these 5: AP, Foster, CJ, Rice, or Charles. Brown going to Philly makes me think twice about McCoy. Ive got #1 pick in 12 team keeper and #6 pick in 12 team.
