It's OK to fire a woman because she's just too hot

Did you vote for me? If you did, there's an option to delete your vote.

I did not. Was actually on the fence but it appears I chose correctly.

One would think that one of the perks of owning your own business is that you get to choose who works for you, and who doesn't, regardless of their skills.

There's this whole definition of "your business", and that's kind of why you do it. :bench:

Yeah I think it's bullsh!t. It isn't her fault she's hot. I mean, if she were being inappropriate in some manner of behavior then I could see it. But here it just sounds like her boss wanted to d!ck her and she might let herself be d!cked so the boss's wife made him fire her. Maybe the boss should just learn some self-control, or divorce his wife if he's so eager for some strange.

I don't see the issue that the guy wanted to fire her. It's his focking business, why wouldn't he be able to fire and hire who he wants?

His wife works there too. I'm pretty sure this chick is making the work environment toxic for the wife.

As usual, Worms gets backed in to a corner with his own "logic" and bails.

Wow, I thought we were having a rational discussion about it. We actually seemed to be making progress. You acknowledged that there could be certain circumstances where he would be justified in letting her go for reasons unrelated to work performance. We were then going down the road of what circumstances would be acceptable. You agreed that if she made the workplace "toxic" that would be sufficient. I then simply pointed out that his wife also worked there and her presence probably made the workplace toxic for her. No insult. No arguing. And then you chose not to respond to that point. I'm guessing it's because you would have had to acknowledge that he's probably within his "rights" to let her go under those circumstances and you'd hate to ever acknowledge that I changed your point of view on an issue. I've seen you do the same thing in other threads. Usually I just chuckle about it. Your suggestion now that the reason you shut up was because you were sick of arguing with me really rings hollow given the context and tone of the conversation at that point.

I won this thread.

Could you expand your comments to include a discussion on employment at will doctrine? I'll hang up and listen.

I don't know a lot about employment law, so I can't really say what the answer is for your hypothetical. If she's great at her job then I'd say maybe not. However if he had some reason for hating her, like she's some awful person who rubs every one of her coworkers the wrong way, then yeah I guess he should be able to can her for creating a toxic work environment.

Then try to refrain from commenting on matters you don't know much about or, try to attain a little bit of knowledge on the subject before commenting on it ... you know, like a lawyer might do. Here, you could have researched for five minutes to learn something about employment at will and concluded the guy was within his rights to fire the woman. Instead you went directly to comments like "Gee Wally, I think this was bullshit." And you wonder why people beat on you with the fake lawyer shtick.

Had to be the dentist's wife pressuring to can her. Sounds like he asked her to wear less tight clothes, but she said she was just wearing scrubs. Which is it? Either way, sometimes life ain't fair, even if you are irresistible.

I don't care about laws. This isn't about laws. It's about what a private employer should be able to do. This isn't even a public corporation we're talking about here. It's s small dentists office. Why the fock shouldn't a small, private employer be able to make his own choices as to who he employs and who he doesn't? I mean, what if he just focking hated this chick. He owns the company but he should have to work side by side with someone he focking hates? That would just be retarded.
