Voltaire 5,316 Posted March 17, 2013 I miss the format and would like to get back in again. The whole thing was my idea after all. It's just I left under bad circumstances and have bad relations with bunch of those a$$holes from Sports Outlaw and some of the other newer boards that hijacked the league. Focking doorknobs, it's no wonder the league only grows during the spurts when I run it. I'd been toying with starting a rival league but I just don't have the tech skills for the message board forum and the bells and whistles like Zach did when we got overthrown. But I would like the opportunity to tell those fockers to kiss my ass again.

420allstars 13 Posted March 18, 2013 Sounds like something I would be interested in knowing a little more about. is there a league bylaws I could take a look over?
WhiteWonder 2,738 Posted March 18, 2013 Sounds like something I would be interested in knowing a little more about. is there a league bylaws I could take a look over? HERE is a link to the bylaws. This, unfortunately, is outdated. There is probably a better set of updated rules at the IBL message boards but I can not seem to remember that website at the moment. looking at the above link, the major changes are that there are now 8 boards in 1 league rather than 10 boards split between 2 leagues. and there are 8 drafts instead of 5. the 8 drafts go off staggered. 3 start the first monday, the next three start the following monday and then the final 2 start the last monday. So the drafts will be going on at the same time and trading is allowed between all drafts. the scoring should be the same. its a ppr league and the lineup options should be the same as well. at the end of the regular season, the standings are divided into 4 tiers for the playoffs. champions, veterans, rookie and waterboy. you play playoff games against other teams in your tier and accumulate points in that fashion. Voltaire 5,316 Posted March 19, 2013 Would he pass the I'm NOT a communist test? and anyone that goes to a restaurant and orders a steak well done (at a steak house) seems shady to me No worry about that because there are no small "c" communists in China. They're reputation is shattered and associated with poverty and starvation. The big 'C" Communists are crony capitalists and it's members wouldn't know the difference between a hammer and a cycle. China is more capitalist than the US is. That's why it's growing so much.
zmanzzzz 1 Posted March 19, 2013 The whole thing was my idea after all. hardly. there were several of us over at the ffwarroom that came from huddle that got the idea going and hosted the leagues. i dont recall you being one of them. the first year we had 4 teams: warroom, huddle, fftoday and fbg. i dont remember who won. anyway, i would be interested in getting back in as well. We both know you weren't there. We only had three the first year. I paid for that first year of IBL at MFL entirely out of my own pocket. And when you showed up, you wanted to join for the second year. The league was already fully established by the time you came poking around. So you missed all that. You know that and I'll prove it to you. The Huddle had imploded with the internet bubble and a lot of folks went to the new site at FBG. But that place blew chunks and we Huddle diaspora had a huge culture clash. Joe Bryant had zero sense of humor and was banning us left and right. When one of our guys got banned for no reason, it was unreal. When I lamenting the excessive use of the ban hammer and requested more tolerance, I got banned too. That's the reason to this day I still don't go there anymore. I hate them and don't respect how they run their board. But anyways, redCashion threw down the gauntlet in FBG's version of the Geek Club. He said we should settle this with a football league. It generated tons of enthusiasm. Lots of folks agree. Then nothing. So then I came forward and organized the whole thing. I went and invited Warroom and thankfully they took us in because we needed a host forum. I personally taught 35 other people the format I had envisioned. It wasn't a collaboration. The whole thing was in fact my idea. It was extrapolating on a format I wanted to do with another league the year before but other owners didn't want to go along. My log in date as a member at this forarm coincides with helping JetDoc get Team FFToday established. The reason I logged into FFT was to teach the rookies here the rules of IBL. This was 2001 the first year of IBL: http://football99.myfantasyleague.com/2001/home/6368 You'll notice no zmanzzzz participating teams because he wasn't there when we started and doesn't know what he's talking about. It was also FBG's first year of existence and the year theHuddle imploded. Unfortunatly they hacked it up to prepare for 2002, but you can still see what was up. This is my 1999 dynsasty league (still in existence) that I commished and that I had wanted to become IBL-like but was thwarted by the other owners: http://football99.myfantasyleague.com/1999/home/0681 . It's where I got the idea and the itch for the format. These teams shared a site but not a player list. When we had our fight at FBG, I was able to channel all my ideas I had for this league into the IBL. (Walking Utleys is my team ) Notice the scoring is identical. The format is just off one thing. The only difference was I wanted a hard 1-2-3-1-1-1 starting lineup and Bronco Billy wanted the 2nd RB to be a flex RB/WR/TE . I lost that vote and that's how the IBL got the flex. Without getting into any of the politics of whatever the argument is here, it is pretty focking cool to look back at FF rosters from 14 years ago huh? Seriously.. you had Gonzo! and Jerry Rice! I have only been playing FF for about 6 years so I have no point of reference from back that far! Obviously if I am fighting for a spot on the team with the guy who may or may not have invented the whole league some 14 seasons ago I will assume I can forget about it! maybe next year

Matt Mueller 146 Posted March 20, 2013 I'd like to get a little bit more info on it as the format is totally new to me but I would abosolutley be interested in representing this board and could def make the time commitment.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted March 20, 2013 I'd like to get a little bit more info on it as the format is totally new to me but I would abosolutley be interested in representing this board and could def make the time commitment. There are 8 drafts, so there are 8 copies of each player. Only restriction is that an individual team can't have more than 1 copy of a player. A board could take as many as all 8, or take none. If you've got the 5th pick in draft A, you've got 1.05A, 2.08A, 3.05A, etc. You can use those picks to trade into other drafts if you wish. If you don't like who's on the board at 2.08A, you could trade down in that draft, or trade into drafts B, C, D, etc. Usually there's a fast draft in each set of drafts, so if you're not in that one, you have a chance to jump into it if you see a player you like that's falling. Like WW said, the draft period is pretty intensive, and it behooves you (and the board for that matter) to be as available as possible to watch for potential deals. After that, the commitment lightens up to roughly what a normal league requires.
Matt Mueller 146 Posted March 20, 2013 Ok. I think I get the 8 copies of a player thing and since we would be a team, being around for draft pick trades ect. Is an owner only responsible for managing 1 roster during the season?

lambert58 71 Posted March 20, 2013 To touch on a point that WW did a great job of making... this is a team format through and through. We had complete buy in from everyone from start to finish last year. Even the teams that were at the bottom of our standings ( ) stuck it out to the end and that made a lot of the difference in our winning. The playoffs are unique and the lower ranked teams play each other and it is important that you win those lower tiers. Some teams had their team owners mail it in when things went south and it really cost them. Great group of guys on team FFToday. Best league I have ever been involved in and this is my 22nd year with my primary league outside of IBL. Awesome format.
southcarolina 166 Posted March 21, 2013 edjriafp seconded. Ive got some more seasoning to do down in the minors, but maybe in a few years i will be ready to try something like this. It seems like a really really awesome format
