phillybear 366 Posted March 19, 2014 So you are in favor of sanctions and diplomatic pressure as the way to deal with this crisis, but you don't think the ones done so far have enough teeth. Is that a fair assessment of your stance? Well, to be fair, I think it was yesterday when the entire Russian Parliament was demanding that Obama put sanctions on all of their members and laughed and laughed and laughed. Reminded me of that scene in Mars Attacks!! when the aliens caught the nuclear warhead that Jack Nicholson fired at the mother ship and the missile was miniaturized and then inhaled it as a bong hit. And they laughed and laughed and laughed. This is not off to a good start.

NewbieJr 541 Posted March 19, 2014 :crickets: from the googly one..Im shocked I tell ya. PaulinStl did what I do to him everyday. If you back him into a corner and insist he gives an actual answer, he runs away and hides like a little girl. That's where RP would post the fishing line or call me ducky. Gooeyballz doesn't want to blow his cover like that, so he just slithers away with his tail between his legs. Or turns on Fox News, hoping they can come up with an opinion for him. I see no way anything Obama does on his own having any impact. He is a joke to Russia.

And as such, you really don't have any idea of what to do other than try to make the countries that rely on Russian oil energy independent by increasing fracking and selling all that excess gas. The U.S. will not take military action in the Ukraine crisis, President Barack Obama told NBC 7 San Diego Wednesday. "We are not going to be getting into military excursion in Ukraine. What we are going to do is mobilize all of our diplomatic resources to make sure that we’ve got a strong international correlation that sends a clear message,” President Obama said. He is always a dollar short and a day late. “When protests in Ukraine grew and violence ensued, it was surely evident to people in the intelligence community — and to the White House — that President Putin might try to take advantage of the situation to capture Crimea, or more.” “That was the time to talk with our global allies about punishments and sanctions, to secure their solidarity, and to communicate these to the Russian president. These steps, plus assurances that we would not exclude Russia from its base in Sevastopol or threaten its influence in Kiev, might have dissuaded him from invasion.” Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/mar/18/romney-obama-failed-act-russia-when-action-was-pos/#ixzz2wSFIPZ74Follow us: @washtimes on Twitter

Same goes for the EU. Crimea has been annexed by Russia. That is a done deal, so Putin will not reconsider anything about it. I heard something a while ago (I'm not familiar with the geography there) that said Crimea has no common border with Russia. To get there you have to go through Eastern Ukraine, which happens to be where all the industry is, so I don't see how Putin stops now. He will have to annex some, or all, of Ukraine or Crimea is pretty much useless to him. That is, other than the Ukranian naval bases he has already taken from Ukraine located in Crimea. I am a basing this off of what I heard about the geography of the region. I have no idea if it is accurate.

Looking at Google Maps, Russia doesn't have a land border with Crimea, but the water the separates the two is only about 5 miles. It looks like there's also a Russian island about a mile away that already has a bridge going to mainland Russia, so putting in a mile long bridge wouldn't be too hard. Newbie, sho nuff, frank m, please stop beating him senseless. After awhile picking on the handicapped makes you guys look bad. So you think they have beat me senseless? In fact what they have done is chase me around and whine because I agree with what some other posters say should be done. I guess i could just post what they said and then try to take credit for the thoughts. Would that satisfy them, or you? I pretty much ignored Newbie and Sho Nuff yesterday in this thread because they offer nothing of value to the discussion. Frank M tried some trickery on me, and it didn't work. Then he tried to twist my words, and that didn't work. See post #180 where I put him in his place. While Newbiejr and Sho Nuff are wonderful at nipping at my heels whining about me posting what I would do, they have failed to post one original thought of their own......unless you consider this by Newbiejr "original". This. This. This. This. Last I checked, Crimea was not a United States property. What Obama should do now is hard to say since he has bungled this from the start and is considered a joke by the Russians. On Day 1 he should have done what Moz said, announce any attack on Ukraine would be the same as attacking the USA. Putting the missile defense system we promised Poland and the Czech Republic would be another good step. That was the first time Putin took Obama to the cleaners. I would also do the same for Ukraine, which is what Dank (I think it was him) suggested. Those 3 stooges have done nothing to one up me in this thread. They have offered nothing, and no doubt will offer nothing today beyond more whining about me. If you consider this "hammering" me the only thing I have to say to you is: Put the crack pipe down.
