NewbieJr 541 Posted March 18, 2014 Yes, I do. You have yet to show how I am an alias. You, and Newbiejr, have failed to tell us what you think Obama should do in this situation. Instead you both want to cry about me agreeing with what Moz laid out as a course of action. You are now 0-5 when asked to back something up or offer an opinion/solution. ZERO FOR FIVE. You should seelk an "I Love Putin" website. I bet you'd have plenty of folks agreeing with you there. Hack.
phillybear 366 Posted March 18, 2014 At this point, Poland and Lithuania are starting to pledge military support to the Ukraine as their military mobilizes. If the United States were to make a move, and they have a move to make, put some military in Eastern Ukraine for military exercises and troop training of Ukrainian forces. Nothing suspicious in that. Then, if Russian continues to slowly push into Eastern Europe, they risk messing with American troops, and that would be disastrous for all involved. I can't see Russia making that gambit. They can't financially afford a long standoff. They need to invade Ukraine in the next few weeks. America would force a stalemate. Really, it's a brilliant chess move. And Obama is too stupid to make it.

Putin doesn't seem like a logical man. And I'm not sure he's bright enough to think in terms of what he can or can't afford. There's world diplomacy involved in this. Drawing a line in the sand that could very well be crossed is a risky strategy. You better be prepared to act if your bluff is called.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 18, 2014 As a two time Obama voter, I'll make the mistake of entering the fray... 1. Obama, and thus by extension the US, looks like a b!tch here. 2. It is lamentable that so many here are enjoying that. He needs to build a coalition. Get the rest of Europe to pledge to send troops to Ukraine's defense. Get China on board if possible. Less risky than you think. If Russia calls the bluff and invades, just back out and leave. It's basically what American is doing anyway, so it's not like you're losing face. Hey, they were just routine military exercises. Putin has lost his mind, but it could work too. Without actually getting involved.
NewbieJr 541 Posted March 18, 2014 Less risky than you think. If Russia calls the bluff and invades, just back out and leave. I hope you're kidding. That wouldn't even be a possibility. Even rational people would think we're pussies then. This is why these decisions aren't as simple as Fox News anchors would like their sheeple to think. If you move forward with any ultimatums, it better not be until you feel like being potentially vested in another war. Titans is correct, we need to get a lot of other countries involved and let Russia know that the world won't tolerate him invading Eastern Europe. This isn't a time to be pounding our chest and pretending the entire world has to do as we say.

Titans is correct, we need to get a lot of other countries involved and let Russia know that the world won't tolerate him invading Eastern Europe. This isn't a time to be pounding our chest and pretending the entire world has to do as we say. Take a good look around this country. It's overflowing with pussies. We are a nation of pussies. And we will act like pussies. Nobody is going to act. Europe, North America. Nobody. All a bunch of pussies. That has fostered this situation. So, there are only two options here. Isolationism, where we say fock off to the entire world, bring all military home, surround our borders, cut off all foreign aide, cut back on foreign trade, let the world deal with it's issues like we did up until the middle of WWII. Or you get involved. You can't pussyfoot around like now, half in and half out. It's lunacy. There is no plan for anything at any time. There is no foreign policy despite all the expenses. Wish washy doesn't work anymore because nobody takes the United States seriously anymore. Me? I'd prefer isolationism. Meanwhile, Russian television is broadcasting propaganda around the clock that Putin is going to drop nukes on America and turn all of us to ash right now as I'm typing this. The fock? Instead you both want to cry about me agreeing with what Moz laid out as a course of action. Yet another quote parse...shocking I tell you. That has never happened before. BTW...I liked most of what Moz had to say. (I would disagree with this, we have to save face thing. That can never be a reason to take action IMO) I didn't cry about you...I pointed out the FACT, that you offered nothing more than a shot at the President, are now doing your usual deflect to those who point out the hack that you are. You didn't agree with what he said until you were asked. Your first response to Moz was to whine about Obama (you know, the typical hack behavior). So...now, on with some more quote parsing and word games. That seems to be the only tactic you bring.

DankNuggs 305 Posted March 18, 2014 Russia reneged on Crimea, we reneg on ukraine missile defense system. Lets get this protective shield back in place immediately. Lets start full scale deep well fracking natural gas and export to europe, which will help us assert our energy independance, and take a huge dent into russias pocketbook. The new cold war is energy production and independance. I'd also start full scale nuclear powerplant approvals across the country.

naomi 360 Posted March 18, 2014 This is probably a ditzy question, but I'll go for it Is there historical parallel to the vast majority of a people in a land wanting to be annexed by a nation (unless propaganda in full swing is giving that impression) while it's unwise and commitment breaking to let it happen? titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 18, 2014 This is probably a ditzy question, but I'll go for it Is there historical parallel to the vast majority of a people in a land wanting to be annexed by a nation (unless propaganda in full swing is giving that impression) while it's unwise and commitment breaking to let it happen? You can make a strong argument that many, if not most, of hitlers early gains in the thirties were popularly supported by the peoples in question. The Rhineland, studetenland, the anschluss, and the polish corridor. Of course, with elections involving the nazis, the results are suspect at best. And all of those acquisitions violated the treaty of Versailles, and were thus opposed by Britain and France. Chamberlain later ratified most of it. The straw that broke the camels back was the invasion of Poland in 1939, which is traditionally cited as the beginning of WWII. Of course, the western democracies had burried their heads in the sand, and were woefully unprepared, as evidenced by the swift demise of France and the Dunkirk disaster. That is the sort of scenario we must avoid here.
